Chapter 246
Louisa met Julian’s cool, deep gaze. His face was expressionless–gone was the warmth she had grown accustomed to.
He appeared distant and detached, as if nothing had ever happened between them. It was as though all his tenderness had been nothing
but a dream.
She returned his coolness with equal politeness. “Hello, Mr. Tudor.”
Julian nodded slightly. “Hello.”
Louisa prepared to leave, but before she could take a step, Julian’s dispassionate voice reached her: “I heard your stomach was bothering
you.”
The casual inquiry sounded like ordinary small talk.
Louisa paused briefly before turning back. “It was, but I’m better now. Thank you for your concern, Mr. Tudor.”
Julian’s eyes rested on her face, his voice softening slightly. “If you’re not feeling well, you should rest at home. Don’t push yourself.”
“Thank you. I will,” Louisa replied politely.
Since Julian had shown concern, she felt she should reciprocate. After a moment’s hesitation, she added, “Have a pleasant weekend, Mr.
Tudor. Goodbye.”
With that, she walked away without looking back.
Julian watched her retreating figure, his brow furrowing. Have a pleasant weekend? What made her think he would have one?
Teddy, sensing the cold aura emanating from his boss, didn’t dare utter a word. Meanwhile, Noah continued happily eating his treats in
the car.
Julian glanced at him. “Enjoying that?” he asked coolly.
‘Very much, Noah replied quickly, not looking up.
‘Get out and eat it!” Julian ordered.
Noah felt dejected. Why could Louisa eat hamburgers in the car, but he couldn’t have a simple pastry? He shot Julian a resentful look, but his boss had already walked away.

After a busy afternoon, Louisa had completed all her work, including what she’d missed during her morning absence. Yet it wasn’s finer ta
leave yet.
Sometimes she found her situation rather pitiful–she took legitimate time off, had her pay docked accordingly, but never fell behind on
her workload,
She could slack off if she wanted, but that wasn’t in her nature. She couldn’t stand wasting time.
When the workday ended, she left promptly for once.
Saturday was her day off. She spent most of it resting at home and doing some cleaning. In the afternoon, she went grocery shopping
with Sadie,
Sunday morning, before seven, Louisa met up with Sadie, ready to depart for Virella Highlands.
For safety, Sadie had brought along her brother Jacob Watson, a college athlete on break, to serve as their driver and protector.
Looking at the tall, strapping Jacob, Louisa said to Sadie with exasperation, “The kid rarely gets a vacation, and you drag him along? Do you think we’re wealthy ladies in need of protection?”
“Safety first,” Sadie replied simply.
Though Jacob was now a young man who towered over them, his athletic scholarship kept him isolated from girls, and he remained shy. His face reddened as he spoke to Louisa. “I’m not a kid anymore, Louisa. I’m twenty this year.”
Louisa couldn’t help but smile, patting his head as if he were a puppy. “Twenty? That’s still young. When your sister and I were in college, you were still following us around asking for ice cream.”
Jacob’s face grew redder, but he insisted, “I’m capable of protecting you both now.”
Louisa fell silent, considering. They were indeed heading to an unfamiliar place with unknown circumstances.
Despite his youth, Jacob was fit, handsome, and as physically imposing as Noah. If trouble arose, his presence alone might deter potential
threats.
With this in mind, she smiled at him and handed over her car keys. “We appreciate your help. When we return, I’ll get you a gift-
anything you want.”
Jacob smiled shyly. “Don’t be so formal, Louisa.”
Sadie showed no such courtesy to her brother, giving him a light kick. “Stop dawdling. Grab the luggage and let’s go.”
Jacob promptly picked up both suitcases, carrying one in each hand without any apparent effort.

Louise Laughing with a handsome young man.
Bob felt a chill. Had Louisa started dating? A young, energetic boyfriend? Dad his boss know about fix?
He returned home preoccupied with these thoughts.
Teddy was sitting on the sofa drinking water when he noticed Bob’s expression What’s wrong? Did grocery shopping put you in a bad
mood? Stock market crash?”
“Shut up!” Bob glared at him. “Don’t jinx me.”
Teddy shrugged and fell silent.
Still dwelling on what he’d seen, Bob glanced toward the inner rooms. Julian hadn’t emerged yet. He set down the shopping bags and moved closer to Teddy, lowering his voice. “Did Mr. Tudor have a fight with Mr. Forbes?”
“Not that I know of, Teddy replied.
Though Julian and Louisa had seemed a bit off lately, he hadn’t heard about any argument.
Years as an executive assistant had honed Teddy’s instincts. “Do you know something?” he immediately asked.
Bob nodded with a furrowed brow. ‘I think Ms. Forbes has a boyfriend now. A young guy–looks like a college student. Very fit and handsome. When he talked to her, his eyes lit up. He was quite the gentleman too.”
Teddy spat out his water. What was going on?
No wonder those two had been acting strange lately. No wonder Louisa wouldn’t accept his boss. She preferred younger men!
Thinking about it, it made sense. Louisa had spent ten years with George–seven of them married–only to end in divorce. She must have had her fill of domineering executives.
And while Julian appeared polite, he concealed a calculating, manipulative nature beneath his smile.
Louisa had probably seen through this and decided to find a young, warm–hearted man who could provide emotional support along with physical strength.
She certainly didn’t lack money–she could easily support him.
