Chapter 248
Teddy and thoah Adet Gate make a sound. The car had been deathly quiet, and they’d clearly heard the male voice on the
did stand like she was enjoying herself.
Noab kept shooting shocked glances at Teddy Who was that man? Louisa’s new boyfriend?
Teddy closed his eyes and nodded.
Noah’s internal monologue screamed, We’re dead, we’re dead, we’re dead.”
“Teddy… Julian suddenly called out, his ice–cold voice like a summons from hell.
‘I don’t know anything, Mr. Tudor, Teddy reflexively blurted. “I had no idea Louisa had a new boyfriend. I know absolutely nothing.”
The atmosphere plummeted below freezing
Teddy cautiously glanced at his boss, only to meet the razor–sharp cold light in Julian’s eyes.
Sweating nervously, he swallowed hard before continuing, “Mr. Tudor, I swear I didn’t know before. It was only this morning when Bob returned from grocery shopping that he saw Louisa in the parking lot with a young… man…”
He’d almost said “young boyfriend‘ but caught himself at the last second.
“And then?” Julian prompted.
“They left together in a car,” Teddy resigned himself to continue. “According to Bob, the young man looked very young, very energetic, very sunny, very…” He couldn’t continue.
“How young are we talking?” Noah asked curiously. “Not underage, surely?”
“Probably of age, Teddy replied. “Bob said he was tall and looked like a college student.”
Noah’s face lit up with realization. “Oh, so Ms. Forbes is his sugar mama?”
“I wouldn’t go that far, Teddy said. “With Louisa’s qualities–her looks, her figure–forget about being someone’s sugar mama. If she wanted, she’d have young guys throwing themselves at her. I’ve heard young men these days actually prefer women like her.”
After those words, the car turned into a freezer–dark and icy. Teddy’s heart leapt into his throat. He didn’t dare look back, fearing his boss might take out his frustration on his poor assistant before even seeing Louisa.
He shot Noah a desperate look for help. The two had developed a certain telepathic communication lately.

Noah immediately understood. “Mr. Tudor, don’t blame Teddy. He didn’t intentionally keep this from you. And even if Ms. Forbes decided to date some young guy, it’s not like Teddy could stop her…”
Teddy frantically covered Noah’s mouth. ‘Stop talking, Noah. We’ll both end up dead if you continue.”
The car was eerily silent and unbearably cold. The frost on Julian’s face continued to build, layer by layer.
Finally, he checked his phone for her location. To his surprise, she was nearby–specifically, at a service area just a few dozen miles ahead.
He passed his phone to Noah with an icy command, “Catch up to them.”
Noah glanced at the screen, first frowning, then looking confused. “Ms. Forbes brought her young boyfriend to Virella Highlands too?”
Teddy remained silent. ‘Noah, could you please shut your mouth?‘
As if hearing Teddy’s internal plea, Noah continued with his own theory, “I get it now! Ms. Forbes must have thought Mr. Tudor was dating someone else. She got jealous, so she deliberately found herself a young boyfriend to make Mr. Tudor jealous.”
At these words, Julian raised an eyebrow slightly. Could that be it? The frost on his face began to thaw layer by layer.
But Teddy immediately objected, “That’s impossible! Louisa would never do something like that. For her, if she likes someone, she likes them; if she doesn’t, she doesn’t. She wouldn’t do something so childish. In my opinion, she probably doesn’t like Mr. Tudor…”
“You seem to know her quite well,‘ came a quiet voice from the back seat.
Teddy immediately fell silent. These days, people didn’t appreciate honesty–not even his normally brilliant boss.
Meanwhile, Louisa remained puzzled. She’d assumed Julian was calling about work. Instead, he’d made those cryptic, sarcastic remarks before she accidentally hung up when Jacob startled her.
She wasn’t sure if she should call him back. What if he was with Abigail on their date? She’d be interrupting them.
She checked his location to see if he’d reached Virella Highlands yet, to help decide whether to return his call. To her shock, he was just
twenty miles behind her.
Her heart dropped. Julian didn’t know she was heading to Virella Highlands too, did he?
Not sure why she felt so panicked, she urged Sadie and Jacob, who were eating fruit, “Stop eating, we need to go. Now.”
Jacob immediately wiped his mouth and started the car, the epitome of obedience.
Sadie was startled by Louisa’s urgency. “What’s wrong?”

Julian’s right behind us, very close, Louisa replied, her expression grave.
“Is he following you?” Sadie asked.
‘No, he planned his trip to Virella Highlands days ago.*
“What’s he doing there?” Sadie asked, puzzled.
Louisa didn’t answer. Her mind was in chaos, even as Jacob pulled out of the service area.
On the road, she texted Teddy, hoping to figure out why Julian had said those strange things to her. But Teddy didn I respond.
Unable to make sense of the situation, she checked Julian’s location again and saw he was getting closer. She frowned deeply.
“You still haven’t told me,” Sadie pressed. “What’s Julian doing in Virella Highlands?”
Louisa sighed. “He’s on a date with Abigail Foster–the heiress he was set up with.”
Sadie’s eyes widened in shock. Then came anger: ‘Just days ago, you two spent the night together, made your relationship public, and he had you pressed against the wall doing those things to you. Now he’s off on a date? What’s he taking you for? Is he playing you?
