Chapter 253
Noah nodded enthusiastically.
Sadie’s lawyer instincts kicked in. “What happened? Tell me everything,” she asked eagerly,
Noah opened his mouth to speak, caught sight of his boss’s icy stare, and promptly shut it again. He didn’t dare.
This only piqued Sadie’s curiosity. She glanced over at Louisa, who was already looking her way, tilting her head slightly–a clear signal to
get out while she could. This toxic atmosphere spelled trouble for anyone who stayed. Survival was key.
But Sadie missed the hint. Their usual friend telepathy had failed them.
Sadie’s suspicious gaze swept across everyone’s faces. Something felt off. This didn’t look like a date. Why weren’t the dating couple sitting together? And Abigail’s expression–full of hurt and resentment.
Maybe the date was fake? Perhaps an obsessed admirer had shown up uninvited?
In an instant, Sadie pieced together the truth. She also noticed the dishes being served at Julian’s table–mostly Louisa’s favorites.
Sadie smiled knowingly, then stood up, pulled Louisa to her feet, and guided her to Julian’s table. Before Louisa could protest, Sadie pressed her firmly into a seat. “You sit with Mr. Tudor. I’ll go over there and have a NICE chat with Ms. Foster.”
Her emphasis on the last sentence sounded distinctly ominous.
Louisa shot her a warning look: ‘Don’t do anything crazy.”
Sadie nodded. “Don’t worry.”
She took Louisa’s former seat, leaving Louisa stuck at Julian’s table, facing his amused gaze. Louisa managed an awkward smile.
To hide her embarrassment, she fell back on her survival tactic–focusing intently on her food.
Julian gracefully ladled some soup into a small bowl and placed it in front of her. “Ms. Forbes, eat more, gossip less.”
Louisa remained silent. So he wasn’t over it yet? And Sadie, that traitor, had abandoned her to save herself.
At the other table, Sadie leaned back in her chair, crossed her legs, and adopted a boss–like posture. She fixed Abigail with a penetrating
stare.
Even as a wealthy socialite, Abigail felt intimidated by Sadie’s powerful presence. Already hostile toward Sadie, she now felt even more uncomfortable. “Ms. Watson, right? Why are you looking at me like that?”

Chapter 253
Sadie smiled. “No reason. I’ve just never witnessed high–society matchmaking before. I wanted to see how rich girls pursue men.
Though not explicitly rude, everyone present understood the implication behind “pursue“-it suggested desperate, shameless chasing.
Sadie was mocking Abigail for her persistent, undignified pursuit.
Angered, Abigail instinctively glanced toward Julian.
He appeared completely oblivious to their table, calmly sipping water and occasionally glancing at Louisa.
He could be so gentle and indulgent with both Sadie and Louisa, yet showed her not even basic courtesy? He was clearly trying to
humiliate her.
Abigail couldn’t take it anymore. Before tears could fall, she hurriedly stood and left. Her friend quickly followed.
Outside the restaurant, Abigail finally broke down. Leaning against a tree, she sobbed, “Even if he doesn’t like me, how could he humiliate me like this? Molly, am I really that awful?”
Molly Lewis tried to console her. “Of course you’re not! You’re far better than that Ms. Watson… though that Ms. Forbes…”
She trailed off.
Abigail’s sobs quieted. “Am I worse than Ms. Forbes?”
Molly hesitated but couldn’t lie in good conscience. “Honestly, Ms. Forbes is genuinely beautiful. Even with minimal makeup, she
outshines most women…”
Abigail groaned. “Who do you think Julian actually likes–Ms. Watson or Ms. Forbes?”
With Sadie, Julian had actively invited her to sit down, spoken gently, and hadn’t objected when she arranged for Louisa to join him.
With Louisa, though his words weren’t particularly kind, he’d served her soup and looked at her with such tenderness–an unmistakable
fondness.
Was he being nice to all women just to make Abigail give up? If so, why couldn’t he be nice to her too?
Abigail couldn’t make sense of it.
Beside her, Molly wore a thoughtful expression, her brow furrowed.
“What are you thinking about?” Abigail asked.
Molly seemed not to hear. Suddenly, she smacked her forehead. “I knew she looked familiar! Now I remember.”

Chapter 253
Abigall was confused. Remember what?
That Ms. Forbes her name is Louisa Forbes.”
So what?”
Abigail didn’t understand. Having studied abroad for years and only recently returned, she wasn’t familiar with local affairs or the name
Louise.
Molly declared, ‘I’m certain Julian likes Louisa.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Are you blind? Julian barely spoke to Louisa, but the way he looked at her was incredibly tender. That gaze, so focused—he was practically drooling!
Hearing this, Abigail’s expression grew even more desolate. ‘So Julian rejected me because he likes someone else? I made a complete fool
of myself today…”
Molly scoffed. “What’s there to like? Louisa’s just some woman from the slums–no family background, no connections. She can’t even compare to you in status.
“Sure, she has a pretty face and decent figure. But someone of Julian’s position would never marry her. No matter how much he likes her, he only wants to sleep with her. She’s nothing but a whore.”
She grabbed Abigail’s arm. Come with me.”
Abigail didn’t understand what Molly was planning.
Molly led her to a hidden spot outside the restaurant’s window. She took out her phone and began taking photos of Louisa while saying, ‘Since they’re making fools of us, let’s make sure they don’t get off easy either.”
