Chapter 254

Inside the restaurant, Louisa remained unaware of the approaching danger. She was enjoying her meat, eating with obvious pleasure
Julian sat beside her, his gaze occasionally settling on her. She seemed to be the only one who could still eat normally. Little foodie.
Julian hadn’t touched his silverware. He picked up a glass of water, took a small sip, and set it down with perfect elegance–no different from his usual self. Yet Teddy and Noah felt a distinct chill in the air.
Maybe they should slip away?
They exchanged a glance, and simultaneously began to rise from their seats. Just then, the food started arriving at Sadie’s table.
Noah swiftly claimed the seat next to Sadie. “Ms. Watson, the food at your table looks much better. Mind if I join you?”
“Me too,” Teddy added. The atmosphere at Julian’s table was too frigid for comfort.
Sadie casually waved her hand. “Sure, help yourselves. But…” She looked at Teddy. “You’re paying.”
“No problem!” Teddy agreed readily. Julian would reimburse him anyway.
Everyone began eating. As they were finishing up, Noah patted his full stomach and turned to Sadie. ‘Ms. Watson, did you come with them?” He pointed at Jacob, then at Louisa.
Sadie raised an eyebrow, giving Noah an appraising look. Interesting question. One was her brother, one was her best friend–wasn’t it normal that she’d come with them? But as a lawyer, she was used to considering people’s motives when they spoke. After a moment’s thought, she understood.
She gave Noah a mysterious smile. “Yes, of course. When my bestie goes out with someone, I have to check things out. Can’t let her get fooled by some young guy, can I?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, a wave of cold energy drifted over from the next table. Sadie felt it instantly and smiled even more brightly. “Young guys these days can be so deceptive, don’t you think?”
Noah stared at her sunny smile and involuntarily shivered. There was something unsettling about Sadie’s smile.

Teddy pressed on. “So how did they meet?”
He needed to gather intelligence for his boss.
Sadie lifted her coffee cup, took a slow sip, and set it down deliberately before answering. “He’s the brother of Louisa’s friend. He’s had a crush on our Louisa forever. Now that she’s divorced, he’s making his move.”
*As Louisa’s friend, knowing it’s not a good match, why aren’t you discouraging her?” Teddy asked.
“Discourage what?” Sadie swept back her long hair elegantly. “When two people are into each other, what’s there to discourage? Besides,
young men are wonderful. Compared to those hot–tempered, complicated, difficult CEO types, young men offer emotional support–they’re
warm and sweet. What’s not to like?”
Teddy fell silent, sneaking a glance at the next table. Great–his boss’s expression had darkened even further. Julian was now staring at
Louisa with a dangerous intensity. Julian was jealous. Good luck, Louisa.
Louisa clearly felt that cold, dangerous gaze on her. She looked up and met his penetrating stare. She laughed nervously. ‘Mr. Tudor,
aren’t you eating?”
He hadn’t touched his silverware since they sat down.
Julian gave her a dangerous smile. “Are you finished?”
“Yes,” Louisa replied.
Julian stood up. “Then come with me.”
Louisa hesitated. Go where? She glanced at the next table, where Sadie, Teddy, and Noah all gave her knowing but helpless looks. Louisa sighed. Fine. She reluctantly stood to follow Julian.
Jacob was the only one concerned for Louisa. Seeing her rise, he quickly stood up too. “Louisa…”
He moved to follow, but Julian shot him a cold, murderous glare. Jacob immediately sank back into his chair.
Louisa frowned at Julian. “Why are you scaring him? He’s just a kid.”
Julian laughed bitterly. “Worried about your young boyfriend?”
“What boyfriend? What are you talking about?” She had only misunderstood his date with Abigail–why was he so angry?
Julian took her denial as evasion, too irritated to argue further. He grabbed her arm and headed for the exit. His forceful, unyielding demeanor suggested he had serious intentions.
Everyone at the table watched them leave the restaurant.

Jacob was deeply worried. He turned to Sadie, who was still eating. “Sadie, how can you just sit there eating? That man took Louisa away.
What if she’s in danger? We should follow them!”
Teddy gave him a withering look,
Sadie continued eating at her leisurely pace. “Save her from what? Stay out of adult business and eat your food.
The authoritative big–sister tone shut him down immediately. Jacob fell silent, lowering his head to eat with a wounded expression.
Teddy was growing increasingly confused as he listened. The way Sadie spoke to the young man sounded like she was scolding a grandson. And she had said he was Louisa’s friend’s brother… Wasn’t Sadie herself Louisa’s friend?
A thought struck him. “Ms. Watson, this young man… he wouldn’t happen to be your brother, would he?”
Sadie nodded, “Yes, he is.” She pointed at Jacob. “My little brother, Jacob Watson. We look alike, don’t we?”
Noah, who had been happily devouring his meat, nearly choked. He looked at Sadie in disbelief. “Didn’t you say this young man was Ms.
Forbes’s friend’s brother?”
“Yes,” Sadie replied. “I am Louisa’s friend.” She pointed to herself, then to Jacob, explaining more clearly: “Louisa’s friends brother. Any problem with that?”
Noah fell silent. Teddy fell silent. Well. They had misunderstood completely. But Louisa was probably in trouble now.
Outside the restaurant, in a secluded spot, Louisa asked the man ahead of her, “Mr. Tudor, where exactly are we going?”
Julian seemed not to hear her, continuing forward. They entered an elevator, then exited. Then they entered his room.
As he closed the door, Louisa felt a jolt of alarm. “Mr. Tudor, what are you doing?”
