Chapter 255
A man and woman alone in a room–this was too dangerous.
Louisa’s first instinct was to run, get away fast. But before she could reach the door, Julian’s arm snaked around her waist, pulling her into
his embrace. His forceful move left no room for resistance.
Louisa was startled, struggling futilely against his hold. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Isn’t an apology enough? I shouldn’t have assumed you were on a date. I shouldn’t have gossiped with Teddy. I was wrong, okay?”
“That’s over with,” he interrupted, his deep eyes fixed intently on hers.
Louisa frowned. “If it’s over, why are you still so angry?” And why was he looking at her like he wanted to devour her?
“What do you think?” Julian tightened his arm around her waist, pressing her body closer to his.
Louisa felt like she was losing her mind. Her heart pounded wildly, robbing her of coherent thought. What was she supposed to think? Could he please let go? They were too close. She could feel him against her waist–hot, hard, unmistakable. Her legs went weak.
“Julian,” she ventured carefully, “please let me go. We can talk properly, okay?”
“Don’t try to change the subject,” Julian saw right through her attempt.
Louisa wanted to cry. Change what subject? Who had conversations in this position? She tried pushing him away, but she was no match
for Julian’s strength.
Nervous, angry, and feeling vulnerable, she blurted out, “Didn’t you promise you wouldn’t treat me like this again? What are you doing now? Men’s promises are all lies. I’ll never trust you again.”
Julian stared at her flushed face, lowering his head until their foreheads touched. His voice was husky: “When I saw you going astray, even willing to take advantage of such a young boy, I felt responsible for setting you back on the right path.”
“What are you talking about? I don’t understand.” She didn’t want to understand. She just wanted to escape this dangerous Julian.
But Julian wouldn’t let her retreat. “Fine, you don’t understand. Let me show you another way.”
With that, his hand cupped the back of her head, holding her firmly in place. In the next moment, he captured her lips in a fierce kiss.
The heat of his breath, the intensity of his kiss–like a wildfire suddenly igniting in an open field–powerful and consuming. Louisa was stunned. She felt herself being devoured. Her heart raced even faster. His scent filled her senses, intoxicating her.
No–she couldn’t think straight anymore. She felt her body responding, wanting him… Her hands moved instinctively to his waist, reaching for his belt… But when her fingers touched the cool metal, she snapped back to reality.

Chapter 255
Oh God! What was she doing? Terrified by her own desire, she quickly withdrew her hand and pushed him hard.
Julian finally released her lips, his dark eyes searching hers. “Do you understand now?”
Louisa remained silent. Understand what? Was Julian just taking advantage of the situation?
Julian stared at her intently. “Dating kids is pointless. Adults should date adults. If you want a relationship, choose me.“
Louisa was baffled. What? How did dating suddenly enter the conversation? Slowly, realization dawned on her.
“You don’t think Jake is my boyfriend, do you?” she asked incredulously.
Julian’s eyes narrowed. “Jake? Such an affectionate nickname.”
“I’ve been calling him that for fifteen years,” Louisa explained.
“Childhood sweethearts, then,” Julian concluded.
Louisa wanted to scream. She gritted her teeth and explained again, “He’s not my boyfriend. He’s like a brother to me.”
“A brother with no blood relation,” Julian pointed out.
Louisa felt like she was arguing with a brick wall. She punched his shoulder in frustration. “Can we please have a normal conversation?”
Julian, seeing her angry yet somewhat pouty expression, felt his irritation finally dissipate. “Yes,” he said simply.
Louisa spelled it out for him: “That boy is Jacob Watson, Sadie’s brother. Sadie brought him here. Understand?”
What kind of mindset did Julian have? Did he assume any man and woman together must be romantically involved?
The atmosphere suddenly quieted. Julian stared at her. Louisa angrily pushed at his hands, trying to break free of his hold.
Yes, she was mad. Even if Jacob had been her boyfriend, Julian had no right to kiss her in anger. He claimed he wasn’t a thug or a bandit, but in her eyes, that’s exactly what he was.
Julian, seeing her genuine anger, realized he’d made a difficult situation. He didn’t release her, but his voice filled with remorse: “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have kissed you without understanding the situation. I was wrong. I apologize.”
Louisa fell silent. Julian was always like this–quick to apologize, making it impossible to stay angry with him.
Just as she was about to let it go, he added: “How about this–for fairness, you can kiss me back.”
Louisa was speechless. What? Did Julian have no shame?

That won’t be nevessary,‘ she said with foured patience,
But it’s only fair, Julian insisted Don’t feel pressured. I’m very open–minded.”
As he spoke, his lips descended again, lightly brushing against hers. The message was clear: ‘Here, I’m making it easy for you.”

Louisa stared at those soft, sensual lips. Fine, since he was being so sincere, it would be rude not to take her revenge. So she opened her
mouth and bit down on his lip.
Pain flashed across his face, Julian laughed despite the sting. She really didn’t hold back.
Little did he know, Louisa had intended to hurt him badly. But in the end, she couldn’t bring herself to bite that hard. When she pushed him away, she noticed a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth. She felt a twinge of guilt. Had she gone too far?
Julian caught her momentary concern and his heart softened. He reached out again, pulling her back into his embrace.
Looking down at her, his gaze deep and tender, he said, “You’ve had your bite, you’ve vented your anger. Now, isn’t it time to answer my
question?”
“What question?” she asked nervously.
“Playing dumb?”
