Vivian was stunned by the slap
Caden stared at his sister with profound disappointment. I always thought you were just spoiled and willful. But do you have any idea how many problems you’ve caused this family over the years? How many messes we’ve had to clean up after you? It’s one thing to get yourself in trouble, but to drag Mom into
it too?”
His voice rose with each word. “Now she’s your accomplice. Do you understand she could face criminal charges? Mom’s not young anymore–do you want her
to go to prison with you?”
Stinging from both the slap and his words, Vivian covered her face, her voice breaking with self–pity. “You hit me… you’ve never hit me before…”
“Right now I could strangle you!” Caden gritted his teeth.
“That’s enough!” Lily quickly stepped between them, grabbing her son’s arm. “You sister didn’t mean any harm. She’s injured. Let’s not place blame right
now.
Vivian sobbed dramatically in the background while Lily hurried to embrace her. Shh, baby, don’t cry. Your brother didn’t mean to hurt you. Please stop
crying.
Finally, when Vivian’s sobs quieted, Lily turned back to Caden. “Must you come in here and lose your temper like this? Can’t you calm down? I’ve already handled everything. Officer Garner assured me that without a body, there’s no concrete evidence. They can’t convict Vivian.”
She lowered her voice confidentially. As for that lunatic Becky, she’s mentally ill. The police won’t take her testimony seriously. And whatever she says, Officer Garner will help us delete it. Without evidence, everything will be fine.”
Hearing this, Caden felt the room spin. He stared at his mother in disbelief. “You are actually bribing police officers?”
Lily ignored her son’s horrified expression, even looking smug. “Officer Garner helped us five years ago. Trust me, he’s reliable. Whatever Becky and Louisa say won’t matter. If they keep making trouble, I’ll make sure they end up in jail themselves. No one will be able to save them!”
“No one?” Caden let out a hopeless laugh. “Not even Julian?”
Lily’s smile froze. “What did you say?‘
“Do you know who bailed out Louisa and her friends last night? Julian. He arrived at the police station before anyone else.” He leaned in, his voice dropping. “And he wasn’t met by just anyone–he was greeted by the Chief of Police in Vire a Highlands!”
The color drained from both Vivian and Lily’s faces.
“That’s impossible, Lily stammered. “When Vivian stabbed him, he didn’t press charges. When we forced Louisa to write that apology letter, he didn’t interfere. Why would Julian turn against the Price family for some nobody?”
Caden laughed bitterly. “Julian’s an old fox. Even his parents can’t read his mind you think you know what he’s thinking?
“I warned you both that Julian was backing Louisa. I told you to leave her alone. Why wouldn’t you listen? Are you determined to destroy our family with
your own hands?
Lily was speechless, her eyes filled with panic.
Vivian recovered quickly, scoffing. ‘So what about Julian? He might be able to ba out Louisa, but the police didn’t find Mark’s body. What can he do to
me?”

Chapter 284
“You think everything’s fine because they didn’t find the body?” Caden asked sharply. “Havent you wondered where it went?”
Vivian was stumped. She and her mother exchanged bewildered looks.
After a moment, Lily spoke up. “Even if we don’t know where it went, Louisa doesn’t know either. I’m certain of that.”

Caden looked at his hopelessly stupid mother and sister, feeling the urge to cry. Use your brains for once! Who would be interested in a corpse? Who would
know it was buried under a tree in the orchard?”
He threw up his hands in frustration. “Haven’t you considered that Julian might have the body now? Maybe that’s why he went to the police station–to
report this crime.
“Maybe the reason he hasn’t moved against you before is because he wanted to send you to prison for good, with no chance of ever getting out!”
Each accusation sent chills down their spines. Lily and Vivian felt the cold wind of fear.
After a moment, Lily looked at Caden with a pale face. “You have to help your sister. No one else can save her.”
Caden collapsed onto the sofa, his face ashen. “I can’t help. Murder and hiding a body–no one can help her now.”
“That’s not true. You can help, Lily insisted desperately. “I’ve already contacted Lorelei–your aunt. She said that if you agree to her conditions, she can make any problem disappear for the Price family.”
Caden laughed bitterly. “Give it up. You know what kind of person Lorelei is. Could I ever accept her conditions? Not just me–George wouldn’t agree either.”
Lily grew more frantic. “Why are you so stubborn? Your aunt isn’t asking you to commit crimes. She just wants you to join her business alliance. It would benefit you too–a win–win situation!”
“Bullshit! Caden swore. ‘Do you even know what kind of alliance that is? I’ve told you before–Lorelei is a snake. Everyone who gets involved with her ends up ruined. Look what happened to the Getty family! Now you want her to destroy our family too?”
The so–called alliance was really just a way to collect pawns, eventually forcing members to participate in corruption. By the time they wanted to escape,
would be too late.

Besides, if Caden had to choose sides within the Getty family, he’d never pick Lorelei’s faction. How long could someone relying on such underhanded tactics last? He’d rather maintain a relationship with Nicholas, the Getty heir.
Lily persisted. ‘Don’t talk about your aunt that way. Of course she’s ruthless with enemies–you have to be tough to survive. But she wouldn’t use those tactics against family. Just do it for Vivian’s sake.”
‘Absolutely not!” Caden firmly refused.
Lily tried to continue, but Vivian suddenly shouted, “Enough, Mom! Stop begging him! If he won’t save me, George will. I’ll call George right now…”
She grabbed her phone.
