Chapter 285
Lily quickly grabbed Vivian’s hand to stop her. “Don’t call him. He won’t come.”
“Why wouldn’t he come? Vivian insisted. We’re getting married. I’m his future wife. Of course he’ll come.”
Seeing her daughter’s stubborn confidence, Lily sighed and took the phone away. George has already been here.”
Vivian looked confused. “He was here? Then where is he? Why didn’t he wait for me to wake up?”

While Lily was trying to find a gentler way to explain, Caden cut in bluntly. ‘George is gone. Forget about him. He knows everything now. He specifically told me that if the murder allegations were true, the wedding between the Capul and Price families would be canceled.”
Vivian’s pupils dilated with shock. She couldn’t believe it. Wouldn’t accept it.
“That’s impossible!” she screamed. “You’re all lying to me! George loves me! He wouldn’t cancel our wedding! I’m going to marry him on schedule! I will be
his wife!”
She thrashed wildly, trying to get out of bed. Her violent movements caused blog to seep through her bandages.
Lily rushed to restrain her daughter. “Sweetheart, please stop thinking about him Listen to me, just forget him.”
The truth couldn’t be hidden any longer. Lily reluctantly continued, “You don’t know how cold–blooded and heartless that man is. When Becky was trying to kill you in the orchard, George was already there.”
She gripped Vivian’s shoulders. “He stood in the darkness watching you get attacked, watching you get hurt, and he never stepped in to save you.
“With someone so cruel, even if you did marry him, you wouldn’t be happy. Sweetle, listen to me. Let’s forget this wedding. We’ll raise your baby ourselves,
as a Price family child.”
At this, Caden let out a long, chilling laugh that lasted nearly a minute.
Lily and Vivian stared at him, alarmed. Had he lost his mind?
Suddenly, Caden stopped laughing and looked coldly at his mother. “I asked the doctor. She’s not pregnant. The baby was a lie she made up.”
Lily was stunned. “Not pregnant?”
Vivian sat in grim silence.
Lily immediately understood–the fictional “baby” was just leverage to force George into marriage. But how had Vivian convinced Hazel to go along with the
lie? That part puzzled her.
Caden turned to his sister. “You really will try anything to make a man marry you won’t you? He clearly doesn’t like you anymore. He’s obviously disgusted by you. Why are you so desperate to be with him?”
For the first time, Caden felt a genuine revulsion toward his sister. Murder, hiding a body, lying–one thing after another–and worst of all, showing no
remorse.
Exhausted, he cut to the chase. ‘Now that Julian is involved, we have no other options. There’s only one way forward–Vivian needs to turn herself in.
“She was under eighteen when it happened, still a minor. The sentence won’t be severe. That will at least save her life, and afterward. I’ll find a way to
protect her.

Not Vivian screamed bysterically when she heard about prison. I won’t go to prison! I’d rather die than go to prison! You need to find another solution right now!” She pointed at Caden, her tone imperious and demanding.
But Caden wasn’t the same brother shed always manipulated. He watched her meltdown coldly. “I’m just giving you advice. If you won’t take it, I’m done
trying to help.
He turned to leave without hesitation.
Lily chased after him, pleading. You can’t abandon her. She’s your sister–your only sister. You can’t just walk away!”
“No! I’m done!” Caden declared firmly.
As Lily tried to reason with him, the sound of police sirens suddenly filled the air outside.
