Julian nodded coolly. “Mr. Price. Holding up alright?”

Caden brightened at what seemed like concern, about to respond.

“Being a brother is tough, Julian continued with a sigh. “You’ve really had your work cut out for you all these years. Having such a sister is quite the blessing. But look on the bright side–you won’t have to clean up her messes anymore. Just visit her on holidays.”

Louisa couldn’t help but laugh. Julian’s tongue was as sharp as ever.

Caden’s face went pale. He’d clearly misread the situation.

Julian patted his shoulder like an old friend. “My condolences.” Then he walked away with Louisa.

Thinking about Caden’s priceless expression, Louisa struggled to contain her laughter.

Julian glanced down at her. “If you want to laugh, just let it out. Don’t hold back and make yourself sick.”

“Maybe you should lick your own lips and see if you die from the poison,” Louisa retorted. “Your mouth is absolutely toxic.”

Louisa fell silent. She’d miscalculated again. When it came to verbal sparring, she was no match for him.

Blushing, she walked ahead.

Julian kept pace beside her, leaning down to whisper in her ear. “Though after all those kisses, you must have your results by now. As your boss, don’t l

Louisa remained silent. Could he please stop talking? This was her fault. She should have just kept her mouth shut.

Their entire group was waiting outside the police station entrance. Anissa, her eyes red from crying, rushed forward to meet them.

Louisa quickly steadied her. “Please, you don’t have to do this.”

Fabian also thanked Julian and invited everyone to his home for a meal.

Julian didn’t answer immediately, instead looking at Louisa. “Tired?”

He was giving her the choice. These past few days had been exhausting for everye.

‘Maybe we should pass? Louisa suggested.

Julian nodded and turned to Fabian. “Everyone’s worn out from the past couple ds. We won’t impose. Get some rest, and we ll get together another time.”

‘I understand, Fabian replied. “But please do bring Louisa hack to visit when you have the chance.

Julian smiled. “Thank you.”

As they left the police station, a silver–gray sedan drove past, nearly brushing Julin’s car. The window was lowered halfway, revealing a woman with perfect makeup and striking features. It was hard to tell her exact age–she was well–preserved–but her eyes seemed to hold layers of calculation and cunning.

Julian gave a cold laugh. “The Price family finally went to her. They re digging thr own grave.”

Hearing this, Louisa glanced out the window. The woman in the passing car seemed to sense something and looked in Louisa’s direction.

Julian quickly reached out, covering most of Louisa’s face and turning her away, eventing her from getting a clear view of the woman.

“Why didn’t you let me look? Louisa asked.

“Nothing worth seeing. Filth,” Julian replied curtly.

Louisa frowned, giving him a suspicious look. “That’s not it. You didn’t cover my eyes–you were more worried about her seeing me than me seeing her, weren’t you?”

Julian fell silent. Had she really caught that?

He changed the subject, offering an explanation instead. “Her name is Lorelei Wolfe. She’s Gareth Getty’s wife–Nicholas’s aunt by marriage. She’s also Lily’s cousin, making her Caden and Vivian’s aunt. She’s bad news. Stay far away from Her, understand?”

The complicated web of relationships distracted Louisa from her original question

“So the Price family brought her in as reinforcement?” she asked.

“Yes, but don’t worry. She’s just a clown who can’t cause any real trouble.”

Louisa was surprised by Julian’s openly contemptuous tone. In her experience, he was always well–mannered, never showing his dislike so plainly even if he despised someone. Was this Lorelei truly that terrible?

Suddenly remembering something Nicholas had mentioned, Louisa asked, “Nichols once said his uncle Gareth conspired with Owen and Dominic to kill his parents, and that there was a ‘mastermind‘ behind it all. Was that Lorelei?”

Julian didn’t answer immediately. He just looked at her, his eyes filled with complex emotions.

Confused by his stare, Louisa prompted, “What is it?”

Julian ruffled her hair. ‘Nothing. I’m just curious how you developed such sharp tuition. You’re right–it was her. She plotted from behind the scenes, helping Gareth murder Nicholas’s parents.”

For some reason, hearing this made Louisa feel inexplicably upset. Why did sheddenly find it hard to breathe?

Julian took her hand in his, enveloping it in his warm palm. ‘Don’t think about It’s okay. She’ll never have the chance to hurt you.”

Louisa remained quiet. It wasn’t that she feared Lorelei would harm her. She just couldn’t explain her feelings, so she decided not to try.
