Louisa was about to cry. What was she even looking for?
She immediately wriggled out of his arms and sat up straight, heart racing while he pretended to be calm. “Where’s Sadie? Why isn’t she here?” She looked
in every direction, acting as if she’d just noticed Julian. “Julian? What are you doing here?”
Julian watched her panic with a hint of a smirk. “Why I’m here isn’t important. What matters is that your Sadie has disappeared. Don’t you want to look for
her properly? Perhaps she turned invisible or shrunk and is hiding in the couch cushions?”
His tone was ice cold–a clear sign he was angry.
Louisa didn’t dare respond to his sarcasm, her eyes filled with silent reproach. She didn’t need to wonder why Julian had replaced the person beside her. It
was still her car, but Noah was now driving, and Julian sat beside her. Clearly, her best friend had sold her out.
Julian’s cool voice drifted over. “Sadie was used as a pillow and compressed for an hour until her arm went numb, so she asked me to help. You were sleeping
so soundly we didn’t wake you. Surprised?”
“No, no, not at all, Louisa quickly replied.
“Well then…” His voice was deliberately slow.
Afraid he might say something even more shocking, Louisa quickly interrupted. slept the whole way–I didn’t squish you, did I?”
‘It wasn’t too bad. Just a numb arm.”
Louisa swallowed. “So… what should we do?” She didn’t dare say anything risky, throwing the question back at him. From what she remembered, Julian cared about his reputation. He probably wouldn’t make things difficult for her.
To her surprise, Julian didn’t pick up the conversation. He just looked at her with those deep, gorgeous eyes and asked softly, “What do you think we should
do, Louisa?”
Louisa fell silent. How would she know what to do?
They just stared at each other. Outside, the city lights were coming on, the interplay of light and shadow making the atmosphere in the car increasingly
hazy and intimate.
Noah in the front seat was growing impatient. Why were these two dragging this out? It was agonizing to watch. He finally broke the silence for them. Ms. Forbes, why don’t you massage Mr. Tudor’s arm? You were lying on him the whole trip.”
Louisa felt mortified. A massage wasn’t a big deal. She threw caution to the wind and agreed. ‘I’ll help with a massage.”
She took Julian’s arm and began to knead it. Julian allowed her to continue.
Then Noah dropped another bomb. “You also laid on his legs for half an hour. Lisa’s eyes instinctively darted to Julian’s long legs. Noah added, “And his
chest.‘
Louisa thought: Are you messing with me?
‘Everything’s numb. Hurry up and massage him, Noah urged.
Louisa felt even more devastated. How was she supposed to handle this?

Before she could figure it out, Julian spoke again, his words deliberately slow. Cest and thighs, hmm… I’ll have to set a price. Nothing too expensive–you couldn’t afford it.”
Louisa was so angry she could spit blood. She knew last night’s incident wasn’t over. This boomerang had circled back after a day and night, coming straight for her. Sure enough, Julian, that calculating man, wasn’t going to let her off the book.
She sat there with a miserable expression, feeling utterly dejected. But she couldn’t get angry because last night’s incident was definitely her fault. She
simply turned to look out the window, saying nothing.
Fortunately, Julian didn’t continue to torment her. When they passed a shopping mall, Julian suddenly said, “Noah, park at the mall.
“It’s so late–what are we doing at the mall? Noah asked. Was Louisa upset, and Julian wanted to buy something to cheer her up? Noah couldn’t figure it
out but parked anyway.
Julian patted Louisa’s head. “Come with me.”
Louisa had no idea what Julian wanted at the mall so late, but since she couldn’t escape, she followed behind him. Julian headed straight to the phone
section, reached back, and pulled Louisa to his side. “Which brand do you want?”
Only then did Louisa remember–at the Virella Highlands Hotel, she had told Julian about her smashed phone, and he’d promised to take her to buy a new
one when they got back. She had forgotten, but he remembered.
‘I’ll stick with iPhone. I’m used to it,” she said.
Julian nodded and entered the iPhone store, telling the sales associate, “The late model in white.”
Seeing the attractive, well–dressed couple with their refined manners, the associate recognized them as wealthy customers and immediately brought out the
newest model. Julian walked to the counter to pay.
Louisa hurried over. “Julian, I can pay for it myself.”
Julian gave her a half–smile, said nothing, and gestured with his palm in a “go ahead motion. But when Louisa reached for her phone, she realized–she
didn’t have one. How could she pay?
Now she understood the look Julian had given her. It was the look you give to someone being ridiculous. She wanted to bang her head against the wall from
embarrassment.
Julian chuckled softly, pulled her aside, and paid for the phone himself. As they left the store with her new phone, Louisa immediately said, ‘I’ll transfer the money to you once I get home and set it up.”
Julian gave her another lukewarm glance, his tone cool. “Whatever you want. It’s st a phone. I’m sure you can afford it.”
Louisa said nothing. Could they have a normal conversation anymore? This ‘mong topic wasn’t going to go away, was it?
When they finally reached home, Louisa just wanted to get inside quickly. But as she was opening her door, Julian casually added, “Bob made lots of delicious food. Want to come over and have some?”
Louisa rejected the offer without thinking. “No thanks, I need to clean my place,
“There’s Bob’s secret Lobster Ravioli, congee, pan seared salmon, and lobster. Are you sure you don’t want any? Julian continued.
Just hearing about it made Louisa swallow hard. She was so hungry. But eating with Julian…
She immediately steeled herself and firmly refused again. “I’m sure. I’m not eating. I need to clean my house.”
