Chapter 308
Julian gave Louisa a cool glance. “What’s wrong with being divorced? It’s not like you committed murder or theft. Why do you make it
sound shameful?”
Louisa remained silent. ‘I don’t think it’s shameful. I was just trying to put their minds at ease.‘
Julian didn’t pursue the topic. “Don’t just stand there. Sit down.” He walked toward Nicholas.
Louisa quickly moved to pull out the chair next to Nicholas for Julian, then sat down beside him.
William said to Julian, “Julian, say hello to Gareth.”
Julian looked at Gareth and offered a polite but cold greeting: “Mr. Getty.”
Gareth returned the courtesy.
The atmosphere in the room grew awkward. William and Gareth occasionally exchanged a few words while Nicholas and Julian spoke
quietly to each other.
Nicholas placed a cup of tea in front of Julian. “That was some long phone call. Look, I’ve already poured your tea. Drink up.”
How attentive.
William, sitting across from them, observed the scene. He particularly noticed Nicholas’s muscular build and recalled the rumors about
him and Julian.
Growing increasingly uncomfortable, William couldn’t help but say, “Nicholas, you shouldn’t keep coming to Silverlight City so often. You’re not getting any younger. Your uncle is already looking for potential girlfriends for you.”
Nicholas flashed a mischievous smile and draped his arm around Julian’s shoulders. “William, you don’t understand. I just love hanging
out with Julian. He’s more fun than any girl could be.”
That last comment nearly gave William a heart attack on the spot. Fun? What kind of fun? Was he playing with his son? William wanted
to punch Nicholas.
Gareth seemed more open–minded and tried to comfort William. “Let it go. Nicholas and Julian are good kids. If they want to hang out together, let them. Gender… it’s not an issue. We shouldn’t be too traditional.”
William’s face turned ashen. To hell with “not an issue.”
But seeing that Julian neither pushed Nicholas away nor denied his comments–just calmly sipping his tea–William felt his world
crumbling.

Chapter 308
Suddenly, he noticed Louisa sitting nearby. William’s eyes lit up like a man seeing daylight after being trapped in darkness.
*Stop talking nonsense,” he said quickly. “My son is perfectly normal. He likes women. Everyone at the company says he’s dating Ms.
Forbes.*
Louisa, who had been quietly watching the drama unfold, froze. What does this have to do with me?
Alarmed, she waved her hands at William. “No, no, that’s not true. I’m not dating Julian. Those are just rumors.”
William gave her a kindly smile. “Don’t be afraid, Louisa. I know what’s rumor and what’s not.”
Louisa stayed silent. ‘What exactly do you know? You’re just trying to use me to “fix” your son’s sexual orientation.‘
If the company chairman personally confirmed these rumors, what then? Besides, Julian’s sexual orientation was perfectly normal. This
was all Julian’s scheme. He’d even dragged his father into his games.
She shot Julian a resentful look that clearly said: ‘Explain this right now!‘
Julian caught her gaze and his cool features softened with tenderness. “That’s enough teasing. She’s quite shy, and the office rumors are already causing her trouble. If this continues, she might quit. I worked too hard to bring her back–I can’t have you scaring her away.”
His voice was gentle, his gaze affectionate. He seemed to be clarifying things. He seemed to be protective. But every word dripped with
suggestion.
Louisa’s cheeks flushed under his gaze. Was that supposed to be an explanation? And what did he mean by “worked too hard to bring her back? His choice of words, his tone–even stray cats and dogs passing by would think there was something between them.
Nicholas, unwilling to be outdone, hugged Julian again with a devastated expression. “Julian, you’ve changed! You’ve betrayed me! Didn’t we promise to grow old together? Didn’t you say you’d fight society and your parents for me?”
He continued dramatically, “I never thought you’d change the moment you met Ms. Forbes. We were perfectly happy being gay together.
Why did you secretly change your orientation?

“No! You can’t be with her! My heart is broken. I don’t approve! Did you hear me? I. Don’t. Approve!”
He delivered that last line with anguished determination, his teeth clenched. Then he shot Louisa a jealous, rivalrous glare and said to
Julian: “Between me and her, you have to choose! It’s either her or me!”
Louisa was baffled to suddenly find herself cast as the homewrecker. She was completely confused. Though she had to admit, she did envy the apparent closeness between Julian and Nicholas.
But after observing them for some time, she was absolutely certain Julian wasn’t gay. Nicholas might talk nonsense, but he seemed like a normal guy too. She just couldn’t figure out why these two men were putting on this act, making everyone think they were gay.

Chapter 308
William had clearly been pushed to his limit by his son’s antics. The scene before him made his vision blur with anger. He turned to Gareth: ‘Gareth, take this troublemaker away before he ruins my son.”
His precious son. His pride and joy. How had Nicholas turned him gay?
Gareth quickly tried to calm him down. “It’s fine, William, don’t worry. Nicholas knows his limits.”
William snapped, “Easy for you to say. Your family isn’t the one being…” Being the passive one.
Gareth didn’t understand. “Isn’t what?”
William couldn’t bring himself to say it. “Just pack up your nephew and take him home.” He couldn’t bear to watch. Another minute of
this and he’d end up in the hospital.
Nicholas, showing no mercy for William’s distress, pushed further: “Why are you so upset, William? Julian and I truly love each other.
Look, our families have known each other for generations. If you’d be willing to give Julian to me as my wife, I promise I’ll cherish and
love him forever.”

“Get out! Get out! GET OUT!” William was beside himself with rage. He grabbed his water glass and hurled it at Nicholas. “Get the hell out
of here!”
