Multicolored roses adorned the doorway, their intoxicating fragrance creating an atmosphere that was both romantic and decidedly

sensual. The entire path inside made Louisa feel like she was wading through a sea of petals, with blush–pink wallpaper featuring half-

opened rosebuds lining the walls.

Louisa’s face started burning again. Was it too late to make a run for it? She really didn’t have the nerve to go through with this.

Rachel linked arms with her. “Come on, we’re already here. You can just browse–if nothing catches your eye, we don’t have to buy

anything.”

Louisa remained silent. Fine. She was inside anyway. Plus, she’d checked carefully on the way–no familiar faces around. No one would

ever know.

The thought calmed her somewhat.

Julian stared at the store’s sign, deep in thought. “Velour Secrets? What kind of place is this?”

“Based on the decor, it’s definitely somewhere women frequent,” Noah shrugged. “Beauty salon? Spa? Maybe a fancy dessert shop?”

Julian frowned. “None of those match the name though.” What beauty salon would call itself “Velour Secrets“?

“Places with misleading names are everywhere,” Noah grinned. “Just a marketing trick. Look, we can smell the roses from here–probably

selling rose–flavored pastries or something.”

Julian’s frown deepened. Would Louisa really be so secretive just to grab a pastry? Unlikely.

“I could go check it out,” Noah offered. “If I run into Ms. Forbes, I’ll just say a friend recommended it.”

Julian shook his head. “Not yet. Let’s wait and see.”

“Whatever.” Though Noah remained convinced it was definitely some kind of bakery.

Half an hour later, Louisa and Rachel emerged from the store, each carrying a bag emblazoned with the Velour Secrets logo.

They were accompanied by a beautiful, alluring woman, all three laughing and chatting like old friends. The woman walked them to their cars, and Louisa and Rachel drove off in separate directions.

“A friend recommended this place,” he said innocently. “I’m here to buy your signature specialty item.”

Though he had no clue what that might be, surely this approach couldn’t go wrong?

To his surprise, the woman looked him up and down like he’d grown a second head. “For… yourself?”

Noah froze. For himself? What did she mean by that? These weren’t edible products?

Seeing his confusion, the woman’s expression grew guarded. “Sir, our establishment exclusively serves female clients. I believe you’ve

come to the wrong place.”

Noah returned to the car, utterly bewildered. “It’s not a food place–it sells women’s products. Skincare stuff, probably.”
