Louisa wanted to crawl under a desk. Was he seriously bringing this up right now?

Her face burned so hot she might as well have been running a fever. Julian stepped closer and pressed his hand to her forehead. “You’re burning up. Are you sick?
“No, no, I’m fine. I should go,” she said, trying to escape.
Before she could, Julian’s arm snaked around her waist. The sensation sent tingles through her body. Immediately, Louisa flashed back to what those hands had done to her last night, making her face burn even hotter.
Julian, acting perfectly casual, held up the thermos. “Drink this before you leave.”
He guided her toward the sofa with his hand at the small of her back. Louisa tried to appear unfazed. “What is it?”
“Soup from Bob. It’s for blood replenishment.”
Louisa went silent. Excessive sex–men needed kidney tonics, women needed blood replenishers. How did Bob know everything? And why
did she know these things too?
She sat obediently on the sofa, saying nothing. Julian opened the thermos and poured her a bowl of soup. “Drink up.”
Louisa kept her eyes down, quietly sipping the hot liquid. Julian watched her docile, awkward behavior and sighed to himself.
The soup was scalding. Louisa drank slowly at first, but then remembered Teresa mentioning the meeting. The time had already arrived.
She started gulping the soup down and promptly burned her tongue.
Julian pulled out some tissues to wipe her mouth, patting her back as she coughed. “What’s the rush?”
“Meeting,” she managed to say.
“Would a few extra minutes really matter?”
Louisa didn’t answer. Of course it didn’t matter to him–he was the boss. But she didn’t want to keep everyone waiting.
She put down the bowl. ‘I’m done.”
Julian didn’t push her. “Fine. I’ll go with you then. Let’s see what urgent meeting the Investment Department is having.”
“Julian!” Louisa snapped, genuinely irritated. They had agreed–sex only, no emotional involvement. What was he doing?
Julian, seeing her determination to keep him at arm’s length, hardened his expression. “Finish your soup. He returned to his desk.

Chapter 321
Louisa had no choice but to finish the soup before leaving.

She expected to be late for the meeting, but when she returned to the Investment Department, it hadn’t started yet. Department heads were still making their way to the conference room.
Confused, she pulled Marlee aside and asked what was going on.
“We were supposed to start on time,” Marlee explained, “but Ms. Hughes got a call from Mr. Tudor about some work arrangement, so she pushed the meeting back fifteen minutes.”
Louisa was speechless. Julian had considered her feelings after all. Remembering how she’d snapped at him earlier, she felt a twinge of guilt. She’d apologize to him later.
During lunch break, Louisa visited a pharmacy. They hadn’t used any protection last night, and she was in her ovulation period. The chances of pregnancy were high.
She bought emergency contraception, grabbed a bottle of water from her car, and took the pill immediately. Back at the office, she realized she’d forgotten to eat lunch.
Checking her watch, she figured the company cafeteria might still have food. As she was about to head there, her phone rang. Julian.
“Mr. Tudor, what is it?” she answered.
“Come upstairs. Lunch.” His voice was direct.
Louisa’s first instinct was to refuse, but remembering her earlier rudeness, she thought she should apologize. ‘I’ll be right up.”
She hung up and headed for the elevator. Just as she reached the 36th floor, her phone rang again. Rachel this time.
The floor seemed quiet–everyone probably still out for lunch. She ducked into the break room before answering. “Rachel, what’s up?”
Rachel laughed at her tired tone. “Why so exhausted? Was last night’s experience that good?”
Among women friends, once one person boldly broached a topic, the others would follow, Louisa’s mind flashed to the previous night. She licked her lips nervously. “It was… pretty good, actually.”
Rachel grew excited. “I told you! It’s mind–blowing, right? Like discovering a whole new world!”
“Yeah, it’s pretty powerful,” Louisa agreed.
“Of course! Unlike men who tap out after a few minutes, this little gadget has no downside.”
“I wouldn’t say no downsides,” Louisa countered,

“What downside could there possibly be? Rachel asked curiously.
“I’m worried about getting addicted,” Louisa admitted.
:
Rachel burst out laughing. “Sounds like last night was phenomenal!”

Louisa fell silent. What was wrong with her, having this ridiculous conversation with Rachel? Pretending she was talking about a toy when
she was really thinking about Julian.
She cleared her throat. “Anyway, I should go. I’m at work.”
“Wait, wait, don’t hang up,” Rachel stopped her. “Next Saturday there’s this amazing gala. All the socialites from Silverlight City will be
there. I got four tickets–invite Ms. Watson and Flora, and let’s all go together!”
Louisa hesitated. She wasn’t particularly interested in galas, but they were great networking opportunities. Sadie and Flora could probably
use the connections. It couldn’t hurt.
“Alright, I’ll let them know,” she agreed.
After hanging up, she made a note in her phone, completely unaware of the figure approaching behind her.
Suddenly, strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind. A low laugh sounded in her ear. “Louisa, those five–star reviews should be
for me personally, not something you’re advertising around town.”
