Chapter 325
Sadie’s question made Louisa pause as a mental image suddenly surfaced–Julian standing at the sink, washing dishes.
国
Come to think of it, he’d never actually let her do any housework. When Bob was around, Bob handled it. When Teddy was there, it was Teddy’s job. And when neither was around, Julian did it himself. He’d never once asked her to wash a dish.
If Sadie hadn’t mentioned it, she wouldn’t have even noticed. Julian’s thoughtfulness was so subtle, like a gentle rain that nourishes without being noticed. Something inside her softened at the realization.
Sadie caught her expression and nudged her arm with a knowing smile. “Look at you getting all dreamy–eyed. Come clean with me–how far have you two gone? Are you together? Have you slept together?”
“No!” Louisa snapped out of her thoughts, denying everything without hesitation. “Stop making stuff up. Nothing’s happening between
us.”
“Making stuff up, am I?” Sadie smirked, leaning in to examine Louisa more closely.
Today Louisa was wearing long pants and a long–sleeved blazer, covered from neck to toe. But looking carefully, Sadie could see traces of
heavy foundation on parts of her neck.
“If there’s really nothing going on,” Sadie challenged, “take off your clothes and let me check.”
Louisa clutched her collar tightly, horrified. “Your brother’s right here! Don’t be ridiculous.”
“You’re so obvious,” Sadie laughed. “I’ve been watching all evening. Julian did all these intimate things–put his hand on your waist, and you didn’t even flinch. And don’t think I didn’t notice you two holding hands under the table. That’s total new–couple behavior!”
“Stop talking nonsense,” Louisa retorted. “What would a perpetually single person know about relationships? I’m leaving now. Bye.”
She couldn’t get away fast enough. Julian had been relentless last night, kissing her everywhere. Her body was still covered in hickeys. She genuinely feared Sadie might actually try to undress her.
Sadie watched her flee with a sigh. This girl was clearly falling for him but refused to admit it.
Louisa dashed out of Sadie’s apartment, still clutching her collar, her cheeks flushed. Thank goodness Sadie hadn’t followed her.
She let out a relieved breath–only to spot a familiar figure by the elevator. Julian.
He was alone, no Teddy or Noah in sight, leaning casually against the wall with effortless elegance.

Louisa froze momentarily. When their eyes met, she blurted out, “You haven’t left yet?‘
Julian’s lips quirked into a half–smile. “How could I? With my poor Louisa’s terrible eyesight, I couldn’t let you go upstairs alone. What if
you walked into a wall?
Louisa wanted to crawl into a hole. She had been feeling touched by his thoughtfulness moments ago, but one sarcastic comment and all
those warm feelings vanished. Why had she used such a ridiculous excuse earlier?
Julian extended his hand toward her. “Here, let me guide you so you don’t trip.”
Louisa stared at his elegant hand, remembering how warm it felt when it held hers. Almost unconsciously, she reached out to place her
hand in his.
A second later, she came to her senses and tried to pull back, but Julian had already grasped her hand firmly, not allowing her to retreat.
She’d fallen for his charm yet again.
Inside the elevator, Julian watched her select their floor. “Can you see the numbers clearly? Don’t accidentally hit 7 instead of 17 and end
up in someone else’s apartment.”
The 7th floor was where George lived. Another dig at her.
Louisa rolled her eyes, her gaze inadvertently passing over his lips.
Julian noticed. “Why are you looking at my mouth?” he murmured, leaning closer.
She glanced at his lips again. “Nothing. Just wondering why such a perfect man had to be cursed with a mouth that never stops talking.”
Julian chuckled softly. “Without this mouth, how would I kiss my girlfriend?”
Before she could respond, he pressed her against the elevator wall and captured her lips in a heated kiss.
Louisa pushed against his chest. “Not in the elevator!”
“Fine. Let’s go home then.” He wrapped his arm around her waist as they exited.
When they reached her door, she wriggled in his grasp. “Let go. I’m going to my place.”
After a night of little sleep and just being kissed breathless, she had zero energy left. There was no way she could handle another round.
“Satan is still at my place,” Julian reminded her. “Aren’t you coming to get him?”
‘I’ll wait here. You can bring him out.”

No way was she entering his apartment. If she went in, she might not come out again.
Julian studied her for a long moment, then relented. “Fine. He can stay with me tonight. You go ahead.”
Louisa considered this. All of Satan’s stuff–his bed, food, toys–was at Julian’s place. It would be a hassle to move everything. Plus, she
was completely exhausted.
She nodded. “Thanks for taking care of him, then.”
With that, she retreated into her apartment. Julian watched her go, sighing silently. This woman truly had no attachment to him.
Louisa locked her door, showered quickly, and went to bed. She expected to fall asleep instantly, but instead found herself tossing and
turning.
The bed felt empty with just her in it. She kept thinking about how secure she’d felt in Julian’s arms.
Sleep completely eluded her. Then she heard Satan barking on the neighboring balcony. That was strange–Satan rarely barked. Was
something wrong with him?
Concerned, she got up. Since she wasn’t sleeping anyway, she might as well check on him.
She climbed out of bed, threw a cardigan over her nightgown, and went next door to knock on Julian’s door.
