Julian glanced coolly at Louisa. ‘t heard. Ms. Forbes wants to invite someone. W not invite me?

“No!‘ George refused immediately.

Louisa collected herself.

When she looked at George again, her coldness had returned. Why not? I want invite him.”

George: “Not him!”

Louisa: ‘Yes, him!”

George: “What’s so great about him?”

Louisa: “Everything about him is great!”

She said it with complete conviction.

In that moment, she saw absolutely nothing wrong with her words.

But once spoken, the scene fell eerily silent.

George’s face darkened, staring at Louisa as if he wanted to tear her apart, bite bite.

Louisa was frightened by that look.

Though with Julian here, she wasn’t as afraid of George as before.

But George could still be terrifying when he had an episode.

She instinctively shifted deeper into Julian’s embrace.

Julian’s arm around her waist tightened.

Though the frost on his face hadn’t dissipated, his gaze toward her had noticeably softened. “If your ankles injured, don’t put weight on it. Lean on me first,

then discuss with Mr. Capulet whether or not I’m great.

Louisa fell silent.

She pressed her lips together hard, exhaled, but her fair cheeks only grew redder

Seeing her like this, George nearly spat blood in fury.

Julian gave him a bland glance. ‘Seems Mr. Capulet has changed his mind. Makes sense–it’s nearly dark. Even if we went, there wouldn’t be much to see.

Let’s go home.”

That last sentence was directed at Louisa. As soon as he said it, he simply picked her up.

Louisa’s heart jolted. This was a public street! People were watching!

She clutched at his shirt, saying quietly, ‘I can walk on my own…”

Julian: “When you’re injured, behave yourself. Don’t add to society’s burdens.
