George ignored Julian’s sarcasm. His eyes locked on Louisa, pleading. Come with me to find something? I promise, this is the last time.”
Louisa fell silent. How many times had she heard that “last time” promise? It had lost all credibility long ago. But she knew exactly what George was looking
for.
After a moment of silence, she nodded casually. “Sure.”
Joy lit up George’s face, impossible to miss. He knew it–Louisa must have remembered. This place held their sweetest memories. Once she saw it, she’d
definitely change her mind about him.
They got out of the car one by one.
Julian stood by the car and extended his hand to Louisa. Seeing this, George quickly thrust out his own hand as well.
Louisa looked at the two hands before her and, without hesitation, grasped Julian’s.
Unwilling to give up, George said urgently, “Your foot–you can’t walk properly. Let me carry you down.”
“No need.”
Louisa rejected him mercilessly and placed her hands directly on Julian’s shoulders. Julian lifted her out of the car.
George panicked and immediately walked toward Louisa. Instinctively, Louisa wrapped her arms around Julian’s waist.
Julian looked down at Louisa in his arms, tenderness and warmth flooding his eyes.
Watching this scene, George’s feet felt nailed to the ground, his chest constricting until he could barely breathe. In this moment, it finally hit him–Louisa
had truly fallen for someone else. Even knowing Julian couldn’t give her a future she still chose him without a second thought.
Julian scooped her up effortlessly and glanced coolly at George. “Mr. Capulet, lead the way.”
George’s face turned cold. He didn’t move.
Not wanting to waste time here, Louisa pointed Julian in a direction. Julian carried her ahead. Only then did George follow.
Teddy didn’t follow. He stood by the car, replaying the scene in his mind. When Louisa wrapped her arms around their CEO… wasn’t that a little too natural?
Meanwhile, the three of them entered the woods.
There was no moon tonight, no starlight. As they ventured deeper into the wood even the streetlights disappeared, leaving them surrounded by pitch
darkness.
Louisa instinctively tightened her arms around Julian’s neck.
Julian knew about her fear of the dark. His voice softened, reassuring. It’s okay, okay. I’m here. Don’t be afraid.”
Louisa murmured softly in response.

Watching their intimacy, George felt his heart shatter into countless pieces. Hell remembered that night many years ago when he and Louisa had come here. She’d been terrified of the dark then, too, refusing to come in no matter what. He d coaxed her for ages, holding her hand tightly the entire time before
finally getting her to enter.
Now, the scene was eerily similar to that night. Except that the person standing by her side was no longer him.
When they reached the spot, Louisa had Julian stop about fifteen feet away. She turned to George. “You go ahead.”
George said, “Let’s go together.”
Louisa replied, “You asked me to come. I came. But there is no us anymore.
One sentence nearly suffocated him. That choking sensation gripped his heart like a vise. He truly couldn’t believe Louisa could be this heartless toward
him.
Yet Louisa only looked at him coldly. “Go on. You should say a proper goodbye to the past, too. People have to keep moving forward.”
Still refusing to accept this reality, George insisted stubbornly, “What about you? Aren’t you going to say goodbye?”
Louisa suddenly smiled. She looked up, surveying the darkness around them, her voice light. “I already said goodbye.”
Not long ago, she’d come here alone. She’d walked through this pitch–black forest by herself and buried ten whole years of love with her own hands. She d said goodbye to her past self completely.
From that day on, she d buried George and those ten years of love for good. She didn’t love George anymore.
Seeing this, George’s heart ached so badly he couldn’t speak a single word.
Finally, he turned and walked toward the artificial lake.
Louisa quickly pulled herself from her thoughts and poked Julian’s chest, whispering in his ear, “Let’s go, let’s go.” Otherwise, once George came to his senses, they wouldn t be able to leave again.
Julian seemed rather interested. “What’s the rush? Let’s watch a bit more.”
Annoyed, Louisa thumped his shoulder. ‘Watch what? Let’s go already.”
Julian didn’t insist further and carried her away.
The two returned to the car. Louisa urged Teddy again. “Drive. Now. Let’s go.”
Not knowing what had just happened, Teddy instinctively started driving. He slamed on the gas so hard he nearly twisted his ankle.
They drove out the school gates. Jared happened to be arriving by car to pick up eorge.
Seeing Louisa in the car, Jared greeted her without thinking. Mrs. Capulet-
The moment he opened his mouth, he caught Julian’s icy glare.
Startled, Jared quickly corrected himself. ‘Ms. Forbes, Mr. Tudor, hello.”
Louisa responded coolly

Jared glanced into the car. He didn’t see his boss anywhere.

Louisa volunteered an explanation. He’s by the artificial lake. Don’t worry about him–he’ll come out on his own. But keep an eye on him. If he wants to
lose it, fine, but make sure he doesn’t hurt any students.”
Yes, yes, Ms. Forbes. I understand. Jared quickly responded.
Louisa rolled up the window and left with Julian.
However, that night, Jared waited for a long time. Even after the students finished their evening study sessions, he still hadn’t seen George.
Afraid something had happened to George inside, Jared quickly explained the situation to the security guard. The guard also worried George might be some
kind of dangerous person and hurried to help Jared search for him.
In the end, they found George sitting alone by the artificial lake, clutching something in his arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
