Jared and the security guard struggled to get George into the car.

George sat in the back seat, clutching the faded time capsule, tears streaming down his face. Only now did he finally believe that Louiss had truly left him- completely, irrevocably left. She’d even been heartless enough to destroy all evidence of their love, leaving him without a single memory.
Meanwhile, Louisa and Julian headed home together. Since her foot was still injured and she couldn’t walk properly, Julian carried her the whole way.
When they reached her front door, Louisa patted his shoulder. “Thank you, Mr. Tudor. Im home now
Julian gave her a pointed look. “You don’t have a bedroom on the first floor. How exactly are you planning to get upstairs?”
Louisa couldn’t meet his eyes, guilt creeping in. Her voice grew smaller. I can walk. As long as I’m careful and don’t move too much.”
Julian studied her for a long moment without speaking, then set her down. Louisa thought about getting inside quickly–once she was in, she’d be safe. But she could feel his gaze boring into her back, cool and intense, leaving her nowhere to hide.
Louisa didn’t dare turn around. Her hands trembled as she punched in her code. Why wasn’t Julian going home? Why did he keep staring at her like that?
Just as she reached the last digit, Julian’s cool voice drifted from behind her. “Lousa, I can see it now. You really are planning to pretend nothing happened and walk away.”
Louisa’s hand jerked, hitting the wrong number. She gave up trying and muttered under her breath, “Didn’t you say I didn’t have to take responsibility?”
‘Fine. I did say that. You don’t want to take responsibility, I won’t force you. I respect you.”
Louisa’s heart lifted. She immediately said, “Then we can just go back to how things were before-
“Now that I’m respecting you, shouldn’t we talk about the issue of you respecting me?”
Louisa fell silent. She knew Julian wouldn’t let her off that easily.
After a moment of silence, she asked quietly, “How do you want me to respect you?
Julian took two steps toward her, pressing close behind her, leaning down slight His deep, seductive voice murmured in her ear. ‘Louisa, do you know that talking with your back to someone is very rude?”
Louisa had no choice but to turn around. But they were standing so close that when she turned, her lips nearly brushed his face. She kept her head down, not daring to look at his handsome face. “You can talk now,” she said quietly.
Julian watched her evasive behavior and didn’t beat around the bush. I want a tie.
Louisa coughed sharply, startled. She instinctively looked up at him. You just sayou respect me. If I’m not taking responsibility, how can I give you a title? Was her brain malfunctioning? She had no idea what he was talking about
Julian offered her a way out. “How about this–you can pretend to be my girlfrien As for what you’re thinking inside, I don’t care. You don’t have to mean it. Does that work?”
Louisa didn’t answer. She lowered her head again, a heavy weight pressing on hechest, making it hard to breathe. Julian didn’t rush her for an answer. He just watched her, his eyes cooling. Gradually, Louisa couldn’t take it anymore. Whether from physical exhaustion or emotional turmoil, her body swayed.
Julian saw it. Without another word, he turned and went back to his own place.

Chapter 346
Only then did Louisa finally breathe a sigh of relief and went inside. But thinking of the disappointment in his eyes as he left made her chest ache.
Don’t mean it? Could she really not mean it? She didn’t dare examine that question too closely.
Finally, after sitting on the sofa for half an hour, she prepared to go upstairs to rest. Suddenly, her phone buzzed. She unlocked the screen.
It was a message from Julian: [My hand hurts.]

Louisa was immediately speechless. Hadn’t he been fine just now when he was carrying her? How did his hand suddenly hurt? She was trying to figure out how to respond.
Julian sent another message: [Wonder if the bone’s broken?]
Louisa thought: It can’t be that dramatic, can it?
Julian continued: [You know how violent your ex–husband is, right?]
Louisa fell silent.
After a while, she replied: [Should I call a doctor to check on you?]
Julian stopped sending messages. Even through the phone, Louisa could tell Julian was upset again.
A minute later, Julian sent: [Ms. Forbes hasn t forgotten who my hand got injured for, has she?]
Another minute later.
Julian: [Never mind. Someone doesn’t want to take responsibility, so I’ll just deal with it.]
Along with those words came a distinctly sulky vibe.
Louisa put down her phone without replying. After ten minutes of silence, she finally stood up and went to knock on Julian’s door.
The door opened quickly. Julian stood in the doorway, looking at her. The sulkiness between his brows seemed to dissipate. He scooped her up and carried
her inside.
Louisa startled. ‘Doesn’t your hand hurt?”
‘Seems like it doesn’t hurt anymore.”
‘Does it hurt or doesn’t it?”
It comes and goes. I don’t know what’s wrong with it.”
Louisa fell silent. She suspected he was perfectly fine and this was all part of his scheme.
Julian set her down on the sofa. He sat down beside her and held out his hand an you take a look?
Im not a doctor‘
Despite saying that, she still took his hand and pressed gently on the bones near his wrist, asking if it hurt.
Julian took the opportunity to wrap an arm around her waist. His seductive voicdrifted to her ear. It doesn’t hurt right now. Why don’t we eat first? You

Louisa fell silent. Wait, why are you talking so close to me? Her breathing went beywire.
Fortunately, Julian didn’t continue teasing her and got up to head to the kitchen Louisa thought about using this chance to escape. But she couldn’t resist glancing toward the kitchen.
The next second, she knew she couldn’t leave.
