This so–called choice left both William and Louisa silent.
Was this a multiple–choice question?
It was clearly fill–in–the–blank,
There was only one answer,
Warmth spread through Louisa’s chest,
She’d never expected any particular outcome anyway. The fact that Julian was doing this was already moving enough.
She shook her head at him, signaling him to let it go.
But Julian only gave her a reassuring look, stroking her hair before taking her hand again.
After a long silence, William sighed: “If Teresa did something excessive, I apologize on her behalf–to you and to Ms. Forbes. You know I have no objection to whoever you’re with. As long as you’re happy. But the problem is, don’t you think you should at least consider your mother’s feelings?”
I’ve already given her three chances. Isn’t that considerate enough? Or should I just indulge her endlessly like Mom wants?”
Julian showed no sign of compromise, pressing forward relentlessly yet without being off–putting.
William sighed: “One last time. This is the last time. If Teresa causes trouble one more time, I’ll send her away. Alright?”
“Send her away?‘
Julian laughed coldly: “Where exactly are you sending her?”
William fell silent.
Julian really wasn’t easy to fool.
Julian: “Fine. When that time comes, whatever you say goes. Deal?”
Julian’s tone was reluctant: “Deal.”
William seemed relieved and was about to hang up.
Julian: ‘Oh, by the way, there’s one more thing.”
William: “What is it?”
Couldn’t Julian just say everything at once? His poor heart.
Julian: “It’s nothing. We’ll talk about it later.”

Chapter 398
The call finally ended.
Louisa couldn’t help but laugh. “Mr. Tudor, is it really okay to mess with your father like that?”
Julian looked at the smile on her face, his expression softening. “You’re finally happy.”
His words stirred something complicated in Louisa’s chest–bittersweet, warm, so warm it almost hurt.
She took his hand voluntarily and smiled. “Let’s head back.”
If they didn’t leave now, Julian would definitely be late for his meeting.
They arrived at the company just in time for his meeting.
Louisa didn’t go upstairs with him. Instead, she went to the Investment Department to handle some issues with other projects.
After finishing, she headed upstairs to her own office.
Normally, there was an elevator not far from her office door that no one else really used.
She could take it straight up without passing Julian and Teddy’s offices, or the secretary’s office and conference room. It was quite peaceful.
But today, the moment she stepped out, she ran into Teresa.
Teresa had changed into a new outfit and was wearing full, exquisite makeup. Even from a distance, you could smell the alluring fragrance on
her…
Teresa seemed pretty comfortable in her Special Assistant position–she even had time to shower and spray perfume,
Louisa gave a slight nod, acknowledging her.
Even though she knew Teresa was standing there specifically waiting for her.
Louisa pretended not to know, maintaining an attitude of neither hostility nor friendliness, and headed straight for her office.
Seeing this, Teresa immediately called out, “Ms. Forbes.”
Only then did Louisa look at her again: “Yes?”
Teresa: “The Chairman asked me to bring something for Julian.”
Louisa thought: So what?
Was she here to show off?
Louisa smiled faintly: “Then please, go ahead. You don’t need to report to me.”
Teresa: “About ruining your clothes at lunch–I’m terribly sorry. How about I just pay you back? How much was your outfit?”

Chapter 398
Louisa: ‘You’re too kind, Ms. Hughes. Eighty–eight thousand dollars.”
‘I’ll transfer it to you.”
Teresa operated her phone for a moment.
Louisa’s phone chimed.
Teresa smiled: “The money’s transferred. Please accept it, Ms. Forbes.”
Louisa nodded. “Thank you.”
Actually, the dress hadn’t cost that much–she’d bought it for under fifty thousand.
She’d deliberately overcharged. The extra could count as compensation for the emotional distress of Teresa’s assault.
Seeing nothing else, Louisa turned to head into her office.
Teresa called out again: “Ms. Forbes, I’ll be going on the business trip to Gravenford on Saturday, too.”
Louisa turned to meet Teresa’s triumphant gaze.
Teresa: “Julian asked me to go.”
Now, Louisa understood. Seeing how quickly Teresa had recovered, with no trace of her disheveled appearance from lunch, it was obvious
Adeline had calmed her down and even helped her strategize.
As for the business trip…
From what Louisa knew of Julian, he wouldn’t comfort Louisa on one hand while bringing Teresa on a business trip on the other.
Most likely, Adeline wanted to seize this last–and “only“-opportunity to insert Teresa into Julian’s orbit.
Julian had already said he’d give one more chance. How could he refuse?
But then again, what did any of this have to do with Louisa?
Louisa smiled indifferently. “Then I wish you both a safe trip.”
Teresa looked surprised: ‘Ms. Forbes isn’t coming with us?”
Louisa: ‘I haven’t received notice, so I assume not.”
Teresa studied the composure on her face, as if she couldn’t believe Louisa could be this calm.
Teresa’s smile grew even brighter: “That’s just how Julian is. Cold as ice on the surface, but deep down, he still cares about me.”
Louisa nodded: “That’s nice. Good for you.”
Teresa fell silent.

The conversation was going nowture.
How was Louise so good at pretending?

Sering that her words weren’t getting to Louise, Teresa switched topics: Let’s have lunch together tomorrow. Consider it my apology for what happened at lunch today?
Louisa: “Ms. Hughes, didn’t you already compensate me? That matter’s settled. Ms. Hughes doesn’t need to dwell on it.”
Teresa: “The main thing is, the Chairman’s wife is taking me to a gala the day after tomorrow. I need to buy some clothes and was hoping Ms. Forbes could help me choose?
Louisa opened her mouth to speak.
Teresa cut her off quickly: ‘Ms. Forbes, you’re not upset that the Chairman’s wife is taking me out and refusing because of that, are you?”
