Chapter 408
As he spoke, Julian looked at George with a lingering gaze that gave
the impression he already knew the answer but was still posing the
question–wanting to hear the other person’s response to corroborate
something.
George said impatiently, “How would I know?”
Julian didn’t get angry. He smiled slightly. “How could you not guess?
It’s quite easy. Try again.”
His tone was like coaxing a fool.
Then Julian turned to Sadie. “Ms. Watson, what do you think?”
Sadie had been pondering this question herself. “I heard from Louisa
that Vivian has a very capable aunt by marriage who came to help her
before she was arrested… Could it be this aunt?”
Louisa confirmed, “Not ‘could be‘. It definitely is.”
She then looked at George. “Hasn’t Mr. Capulet been getting quite
close to that woman recently? She even entrusted her intellectually
disabled daughter to you. But now she’s rescued Vivian… Looks like

even though she fancies you as a son–in–law, she only wants to
control you. She doesn’t actually respect you.”
George was left speechless, his expression darkening.
He hadn’t expected Vivian to be abducted like this. This was supposed
to be a society governed by law.
To rescue someone, shouldn’t you exploit legal loopholes, bribe
officials, plead with judges?
Hijacking a police vehicle midway, killing officers… They were insane.
Completely insane.
But then again, what use did Vivian have that made her worth
rescuing for Lorelei?
Sadie thought for a moment, looking between Louisa and Julian. “Now that we all think it’s this woman, shouldn’t we tell the police what we
know so they can investigate?”
Julian replied, “Do you have evidence? Mere suspicion is useless.”
Sadie protested, “So we just wait around doing nothing?
Julian didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he turned to look at Louisa

beside him.
Louisa was immersed in her own thoughts, holding her water glass
and drinking.
Sensing Julian’s gaze, she met his eyes. “What is it?”
Julian asked, “What do you think? Are you afraid?”
Louisa shook her head. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t afraid. She’s
wanted me dead for quite some time. But I think she probably won’t
surface so quickly for now.”
Sadie and George both asked simultaneously, “Why not?”
Louisa explained, “Because whoever rescued her won’t let her out.
Hijacking a police vehicle, killing officers–is that an easy thing to do? They went through such great trouble to rescue her because
Vivian has value to them, not to let her come out and get herself
killed. What we can do now is stay vigilant, keep calm, and try to find
her before Lorelei releases her.”
Her words brought sudden understanding to Sadie and George.
Julian looked at her with admiring, bright eyes, gently ruffling her
hair. “Exactly right. Our Louisa is so smart,”

George’s expression turned ugly.
Were they deliberately showing off their relationship in front of him?
Sadie asked urgently, “Then where should we look for Vivian?”
Julian replied, “I’ve already sent people to search.”
On this point, his thinking was perfectly aligned with Louisa’s.
Sadie remained worried.
Louisa’s brow was also furrowed.
Julian reassured them, “You don’t need to be so tense. Ms. Watson,
you and Louisa should just go about your normal lives.”
Sadie fell silent.
Easy for him to say.
How could they not be tense?
But Louisa thought Julian had a point. Being anxious now wouldn’t
help.

Sadie looked down on his cowardice and sneered. “When he was with
Vivian, how intimate they were–couldn’t wait to be together every
day. Now? Hearing that Vivian might come out, he’s scared out of his
wits. Men’s hearts really do change at the drop of a hat.”
Louisa didn’t comment.
Julian, however, glanced coolly at Sadie. “Perhaps Ms. Watson knows
too few men. Go fall in love.”
His implication: You haven’t met good men, so stop poisoning our
Louisa’s mind.
Sadie felt awkward, apologized, and quickly left.
Julian turned to Louisa. “Shall we go home too?”
Louisa paused, confused. Wasn’t this his home?
Julian clarified, “I’ll have it cleaned. We’ll move back tomorrow.”
Louisa understood. With Teresa here before, and now George and
Sadie visiting, the germaphobic Julian didn’t want to stay in a home
“contaminated” by a group of people.
She couldn’t help but smile. “Should we hold a housewarming

ceremony for Mr. Tudor?”
Julian replied, “I have no objection, but the ‘moving in‘ process has to
follow my rules.”
Louisa quickly backtracked. “Never mind then.”
She knew perfectly well what he wanted to do.
They chatted and laughed as they returned to her place.
Someone called Julian. He went to the balcony to take it.
Louisa sat on the sofa, her mind involuntarily returning to thoughts
about Vivian.
When Julian finished his call and returned, he found her sitting on
the sofa in a daze.
He sat beside her, pulling her into his arms consolingly. “Stop
overthinking, I’ll catch her.”
Louisa nodded, but couldn’t help wondering where Vivian might be
hiding.
Julian waved his hand in front of her eyes. “Ms. Forbes, come back to

earth.”
Only then did Louisa snap out of it, looking at him in confusion.
Julian rarely saw her look so adorably dazed. He couldn’t help but
chuckle. “There’s one more thing I need to tell you. Teresa is leaving
Silverlight City tomorrow. You won’t have to deal with that trouble
anymore.”
Louisa didn’t process this immediately. “Why the sudden departure?
Did you chase her away?”
Julian corrected her, “More precisely, my mother told her to leave.”
Louisa fell silent.
How was that possible?
Julian seemed to know what she was thinking. He wrapped his arms around her waist, lifted her onto his lap, and gazed at her with eyes as
brilliant as a galaxy of stars. “Because she needs to prepare to welcome her daughter–in–law.”
