After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire’s Arms
Chapter 537
Seeing her lost in thought, the little boy called out obediently, “Pretty lady, what are you thinking about? Are you busy? I can help.
Louisa smiled at him. “No, I’m fine. You don’t have to be so formal. Play around for a bit. I’ll call your dad.”
“Can I look around your place?” The little guy seized the opportunity she’d given him.
Louisa said, “Sure, but don’t go upstairs, and don’t touch the computer. Everything else is fair game.”
“Thank you.” The little guy immediately hopped off the sofa and began exploring.
Louisa called Julian.
He picked up quickly. “Louisa, what’s up?”
Louisa asked, “When are you coming back?”
Julian said, “Probably another two hours before I’m home. Why, miss me?”
Louisa was about to speak when she noticed a small head hovering over her shoulder.
The little boy was eavesdropping on her conversation with Julian.
Meeting her gaze, the little boy grinned sheepishly, looking a bit apologetic.
Louisa didn’t scold him. She said to Julian, “Your son came looking for you. Come pick him up when you’re done.”
Without giving Julian a chance to say more, she hung up.
Then she brought the groceries she’d bought at the supermarket into the kitchen and started washing some fruit.
As she worked, she glanced over at the little boy from time to time.
He seemed to be wandering around, but he didn’t touch things carelessly.
Occasionally, when he saw something interesting or curious, he’d reach out carefully to touch it.
Louisa brought the washed fruit to the living room and called him over “Come have some fruit.”
“Thank you.” The little boy walked over.
Louisa sat down on the carpet.
The little boy was too short, so he stood beside her.

They both ate grapes seriously, neither saying a word.
But they were both secretly observing each other.
Whenever they caught each other’s gaze, they’d smile awkwardly and continue eating grapes.
Finally, the little boy couldn’t hold back. He asked curiously, “Pretty lady, why aren’t you asking me anything?”
Louisa said, “What should I ask?”
The little boy said, “About my family. What they like, what their personalities are like.”
In the past, whenever people met him, they’d always ask questions like that so they could butter up his family.
Louisa said, “Not interested.”
What the Tudor family was like had nothing to do with her.
The little boy nodded with a hint of regret. “Okay.”
But then he turned and said, “But I’m really curious about you. I want to ask you some questions.”
Louisa said, “You can keep your questions in that little belly of yours and ask your dad directly when you see him.”
The little boy asked curiously, “You know what I want to ask?”
Louisa said, “You just want to ask about my relationship with your dad, right? You can ask him directly. If you need an explanatio
let your dad give it to you.”
She had no interest in coaxing Julian’s kid for him.
The little boy looked at her with admiration. “Pretty lady, you’re so smart.”
Louisa smiled back. “Thank you.”
The little boy wanted to say something else, Louisa’s phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID-it was a company CEO she hadn’t been in touch with in a long time.
Louisa patted the little guy’s head. “Go play.”
She took her phone and sat on the sofa, answering, “Mr. Turner, hello.”
Caleb Turner chuckled. “Ms. Forbes, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Do you have time to grab a meal sometime soon?”
Louisa didn’t respond immediately.

Chapter 537
Shed met Caleb back when she was at the Capulet Group. Their companies had worked together.
Caleb had always wanted to recruit her, even offering triple her salary at the time. She’d refused.
Now that he was suddenly calling, he must have heard she’d left the Tudor Group.
But Louisa didn’t let on. Instead, she said, “I’m not very available right now. Let’s skip the meal. If you have something to say, Mr. Turner, you can tell me over the phone.”
Caleb hesitated.
He’d really wanted to speak to Louisa in person.
After all, some things were hard to explain over the phone.
But since Louisa clearly didn’t want to meet, Caleb didn’t want someone else to beat him to it..
So he just said it over the phone. “I heard Ms. Forbes is currently between jobs. Would you be interested in joining my company?
You know I’ve always admired your work.”
Louisa declined directly. “I’m sorry, Mr. Turner. I want to take some time off. Thank you for the offer.”
Caleb sounded regretful and tried to say more, but Louisa politely refused throughout.
In the end, he had no choice but to end the call.
But just a few minutes after hanging up, Louisa’s phone rang again.
It was like overnight, everyone had learned she’d left the Tudor Group.
She answered one call after another.
After taking four calls in a row, she was exhausted. She tossed her phone aside and leaned back wearily on the sofa.
She had no idea where all these people had heard about her resignation.
The little boy shuffled over to her side, grinning. “Pretty lady, you’re really in demand.”
Louisa didn’t bother being modest. She replied casually, “Yep, very in demand.”
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Louisa checked the time. It should be Julian.
She got up to open the door.
