After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire’s Arms

Louisa was completely stunned.

She never expected William to make such a concession.

Julian personally poured his father a cup of tea. “That’s our Mr. William Tudor for you- always has a way.”

William shot him an irritated look and said nothing.

This son of his was an expert at setting traps and reading people. He knew his father wouldn’t let go of someone as talented as Louisa, so he’d pushed him forward to say all this himself.

What a setup.

Julian poured Louisa a cup of tea as well, leaning in to murmur, “Only kids have to choose. My girlfriend’s amazing-of course she can have it all, right?”

Louisa couldn’t find her voice.

Her mind was still reeling.

Her company could continue operating. She’d get a two-hundred-million-dollar annual salary.

No, wait-it wasn’t just about the money. More importantly, she’d have access to the Tudor Group’s network and resources.

And the CFO title? That was serious backing.

What kind of incredible luck was this?

Lost in thought, she couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at her lips.

Julian chuckled. “Go ahead and laugh if you want. Don’t hold back.”

Her smile widened.

The other Tudor siblings exchanged glances, smiling too-but mostly they were shocked.

They’d only noticed Louisa’s beauty. They never saw this coming.

Their father was personally recruiting someone. As CFO, no less.

Aside from Tudor Group shares, in every other respect Louisa’s CFO position would be on equal footing with Julian’s CEO role.

It was almost unbelievable.

Julian watched the smile on her face, then suddenly sighed.

Louisa turned to him. “Why are you sighing?”

He shook his head, his tone casual. “Nothing. I just didn’t expect a measly two hundred million to win over Ms. Forbes. You’re such a money lover-have you

haug about what the wedding gift would be if you married the Tador Group’s CEO?”

Louisa said, “Mr. Tudor, your wedding gift only proves your value. It doesn’t represent mine.”

Julian looked at her, smiling. But even if I gave you everything I own to marry you, I’d still feel it was enough. What should I do?”

Louisa coughed sharply, startled.

She hadn’t thought before blurting that out.

Why was he running with it?

Proposing in front of his entire family?

Her eyes warned him: Stop right there! Don’t say another word!

Julian held her gaze for a long moment, then said nothing more.

He felt a flicker of disappointment. Even now, she still wouldn’t budge.

The entire Tudor family watched in disbelief.

Beauty, money, status-Mr. Tudor had laid it all out, one play after another. And Louisa could still resist?

Alicia, herself a formidable businesswoman, felt a surge of respect for Louisa.

Being born into privilege was luck. But building your own empire from scratch? That was pure ability.

Outside, Amelia was still searching for Adeline.

She’d checked the restroom twice, circled the surrounding area–nothing.

Finally, she called her mother. “Mom, where are you? Everyone’s already here. You can’t bail now.”

Adeline said, “Who’s bailing? You all go ahead and eat. I’m meeting someone.”

‘Meeting someone? Who?”

“Don’t worry about it. I’ll be back soon.”

She hung up.

Amelia groaned in frustration. She couldn’t tell if her mother was doing this on purpose.

If she kept not showing up, wouldn’t that embarrass Louisa? Julian would definitely be upset.

But Amelia had no other choice. She returned and lied, “Mom says she’s not feeling well. She needs a little more time. She told us to start eating, and she’ll come when she feels better.”

The moment she spoke, the warm atmosphere in the room froze.

Julian’s expression darkened.

William sighed helplessly.

Really? She’d already come all this way couldn’t she just let their son be happy?

Louisa was perfectly fine in every way.

He’d already accepted her as his daughter-in-law.

Whatever.

He couldn’t let Louisa feel awkward, so he rallied everyone. “Well then, let’s eat.”

Then he engaged Louisa in other topics to ease any discomfort.

Louisa didn’t care.

She knew Adeline didn’t accept her. She’d already prepared herself to be disliked and challenged.

Today’s situation was actually pretty good.

Compared to Hazel’s blunt, humiliating remarks before, Adeline was being gentle.

She almost hoped Adeline wouldn’t come in at all-that she’d just leave.

She picked up her knife and fork and began eating.

Still, the atmosphere in the room felt strained.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Louisa glanced at it and said to Julian, “Excuse me, I need to take this.”

She stood and walked toward the door, answering as she went. “Rachel, what’s up?”

As she spoke, she closed the door behind her, missing the way Jeffrey’s expression froze.

Rachel asked on the phone, ‘Louisa, are you here yet?”

“Yeah, I’m here. Why? Are you here too?”

Rachel’s tone was light. “Yep. Which room are you in? I’ll come say hi.”

“No, don’t!” Louisa quickly stopped her.

Things were already messy enough.
