After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire’s Arms
Chapter 558
Louisa didn’t reply to Julian’s message.
She reached the door of Rachel’s reserved room.
The door was closed.
She knocked habitually.
A voice came from inside. “Come in!”
Louisa instinctively reached for the handle, but the moment she gripped it, she froze. That voice wasn’t Rachel’s.
Wrong room?
She stepped back to check the room name. No, this was right.
Then who was inside?
Rachel’s friend?
Where was Rachel?
Completely confused, she figured–well, she’d already knocked. Might as well go in and see.
She opened the door.
The room was spacious, with a folding screen blocking her view.
Louisa walked around the screen and immediately saw the woman sitting on the sofa-
Adeline?
Louisa’s mind short–circuited. Her feet stopped dead.
Oh God.
What was happening?
Why was Adeline in Rachel’s room?
Her breathing felt tight, like she’d walked into some supernatural trap.
Adeline rose from the sofa and walked toward her.

Chapter 558
The moment Louisa had stepped around that screen, Adeline had recognized her.
This girl was the one in the green dress who’d saved her.
The more she thought about it, the more excited she became. She reached Louisa and grabbed her hand. “It’s you, isn’t it? You’re the
one who saved me that night.”
A question in tone, but certainty in her words–and pure joy.
Louisa realized she couldn’t avoid this. She admitted it. “Yes.”
Then she pulled her hand free.
After all, this was Julian’s mother, and she wasn’t exactly awful. Louisa maintained surface–level politeness.
She just couldn’t bring herself to like her.
Adeline, lost in her own happiness, didn’t notice Louisa’s resistance. Her eyes swept up and down, left and right, inside and out,
taking in every detail.
Last time with the mask, she’d only thought Louisa resembled her late friend Melinda.
Now, without the mask, seeing her fully–this girl was truly beautiful. Stunning.
Louisa had no intention of lingering. She wore a polite but hollow smile. “You must be waiting for someone. I won’t disturb you.
Goodbye.”
With that, Louisa turned to leave.
Rachel, just you wait.‘
Louisa seethed internally.
No wonder this whole dinner had felt off from the start.
Now it all made sense.
Julian had lied to her.
Rachel had lied to her too.
You both just wait.‘
She fumed silently.
But Adeline wasn’t about to let her go easily. She immediately grabbed Louisa’s hand again. “Don’t rush off! Sit down. Let’s talk

properly.”
She’d searched for months for her savior. Now that she’d finally found her, there was no way Adeline would let her leave without
getting her name and contact information.
Louisa said, “I’m sorry, ma’am, but I have friends in another room. I need to get back.”
She pulled her hand free again.
Adeline grabbed it right back, patting it as she spoke. “I’ve been searching high and low for you. I never imagined we’d meet like
this today. Someone sent me an anonymous message saying they had information about you, so I rushed over immediately. I assume
you got an anonymous message too and came here?”
She wore an expression that said, “I understand completely.”
Louisa cycled through anger, exasperation, and now–absurdity.
When you disliked someone, you could imagine all sorts of terrible scenarios.
When you liked someone, you’d even invent excuses for them.
She just wondered what Adeline’s expression would be when she learned that she was Louisa–the very person Adeline had schemed
so hard to get rid of.
Sure enough, Adeline asked, “What’s your name, dear? Last time you left in such a hurry, you didn’t get a chance to tell me.”
Louisa thought: ‘If I’d known you’d conjure up some rich, beautiful savior in your mind, I would’ve told you last time.‘
Louisa smiled. “My name is-”
“Louisa” was about to slip out.
Just then, her phone rang.
At the same time, Adeline’s phone rang too.
Louisa had received a message from Julian: [If you don’t come back soon, grass is going to start growing in this room.]
Adeline was getting a call from Amelia.
She walked to the window to
Answer. “What is it?”
Amelia said, “Mom, where did you go? Don’t you think you’re being ridiculous? You promised to come but didn’t show up. You upset
my third sister–in–law so much she left, and Julian’s crying buckets.”
Obviously an exaggeration.

Adeline huffed proudly. “If she left, she left. Perfect–I’ll introduce him to someone better.”
Amelia said, “Give it up, Mom. My third sister–in–law is gorgeous–just as beautiful as your girl in the green dress. The only
difference is, yours is a filtered fantasy, and Julian’s girlfriend is a real, genuine beauty.”
Adeline got angry. “Who says mine is a fantasy?”
She turned to glance at the breathtakingly beautiful girl sitting on the sofa playing with her phone, then said smugly, “I’ll have you
know, I’ve already found my girl in the green dress. I’m bringing her to the room right now.”
“What?” Amelia’s earth–shattering shriek came through the phone.
On this end, Louisa also heard Adeline’s words. Her phone clattered to the carpet.
What the hell?
She’d just been texting Julian saying her period had started and she needed to leave immediately.
And now Adeline was going to bring her over there?
No, no, no. She had to get out of here. Fast.
Adeline hung up and walked over. “How’d you drop your phone?”
She bent down to pick it up.
Louisa was faster, snatching it up and blurting out an excuse. “Ma’am, I’m so sorry. My dog–who has depression–has gone missing.
I need to go find him right away. Goodbye.”
She immediately tried to leave again.
Adeline quickly grabbed her. “Don’t rush, don’t rush! I’ll have someone help you find your dog. My second son is a doctor–he can
treat depression too. Come with me first. I’ll introduce you to my gorgeous third son.”
Louisa said, “No, no, no, that’s not necessary. You’re too kind.”
Adeline said, “Yes, yes, it is! My son is so handsome and charming. You’ll definitely like him once you see him.”
