Chapter 98
The familiar voice made Julian’s body tense, his eyes instantly brightening as he looked toward the doorway.
Everyone in the room instinctively cleared a path for his gaze.
Then they all saw Louisa appear at the entrance.
Her hair was disheveled, her clothes completely soaked, her face pale and bloodless. Her forehead, face, and legs bore visible injuries. In this moment, she looked utterly wretched.
But when she smiled, her brilliant eyes outshone even the stars in the night sky.
Everyone in the room was shocked.
Louisa! It really was Louisa!
No wonder Julian had been so furious on her behalf. Even in such a bedraggled state, she remained stunningly beautiful.
Julian immediately walked toward her, removing his jacket as he approached. When he reached her, he
wrapped it around her cold, wet body.
His icy eyes warmed instantly upon seeing her. He examined her from head to toe, his expression filled
with concern. “How did you manage to hurt yourself again?”
Louisa looked up at him, offering a weak smile. “Being alive is good enough. Mr. Tudor, you shouldn’t be so
picky.”
Indeed, she had escaped the fire by jumping from the second floor into the sea.
Fortunately, having grown up by the ocean, she was a strong swimmer who knew how to navigate toward
safety when waves struck.
And luck had been on her side–when she jumped, the rocks had struck her leg rather than her head.
Julian couldn’t help but smile despite his concern. Ignoring the crowd around them, he pulled her into his arms, holding her so tightly she could barely breathe.
The joy of recovering what he’d thought lost made him lose control in this moment.

Louisa didn’t resist the embrace. Her entire body was cold, shivering uncontrollably.
And her leg wound–she hadn’t felt the full pain during her escape, but now in his arms, she finally felt it: a bone–deep, piercing agony that made it difficult to stand.
For the next few minutes, she leaned weakly against him, taking comfort in his warmth.
The group in the room watched the scene unfold before them.
Judith was nearly driven mad. How could this woman have such incredible survival instincts? Locked in a burning room, yet still able to escape by jumping into the sea?
Teresa stared at Julian with jealous eyes. She had loved him for half her life and had never been held like that. Her eyes reddened with envy.
Others watched the scene in disbelief. The Julian who had been ready to kill moments ago was now completely calm?
Was this merely “caring about“? This looked like complete devotion.
But wasn’t Louisa someone else’s wife? So the mighty CEO of the Tudor Group had fallen for another man’s
wife?
Julian ignored everyone’s stares. Looking down at Louisa, he freed one hand to gently smooth her wet hair.
“I need to take you to the hospital.”
“No,” Louisa insisted. “Let’s resolve this issue first.”
“Louisa!” His deep voice was filled with disapproval.
But Louisa was more stubborn. Once she decided something, not even Julian could dissuade her.
Knowing her determined nature, Julian realized that if he didn’t let her settle this score, she probably
wouldn’t cooperate with medical treatment either.
So he simply lifted her into his arms and, with everyone watching, carried her into the conference room. He placed her in the soft leather chair–his own seat–at the head of the table.
Perhaps because he had appeared during her most desperate, disheveled moments many times before, she had grown accustomed to his embrace. She didn’t overthink it.
On the conference table, Teresa’s phone screen still glowed with William’s name.

Louisa immediately understood what had happened.

She gave Teresa a cold glance, her lips curling into a sarcastic smile. Despite being an Investment Director managing hundreds of people, how could Teresa be so petty?
But never mind–Teresa wasn’t her enemy.
Discreetly scanning the room, Louisa asked, “Where’s Patrick?”
“George beat him badly,” Julian replied, then signaled to a subordinate.
The man immediately understood, going outside to drag in the bloodied, immobile Patrick, tossing him to the floor like garbage.
Now everyone was present.
Louisa looked down at Patrick, who resembled a dying dog, in no hurry to begin.
In this moment, she was like a deity overseeing life and death, her eyes burning with flame, her fingers tapping slowly on the armrest–each tap like a knife slowly flaying its victim.
When she saw that Patrick was thoroughly unnerved, she finally spoke slowly, “Mr. Taylor, when you set
that fire to silence me, you never imagined I’d return alive, nor did you anticipate your current
predicament, did you?”
Patrick could barely speak now, his teeth chattering uncontrollably.
George had beaten him severely, and Julian had forbidden him medical treatment. He was using all his strength to endure the pain of his fractured skull, with no energy to listen to Louisa’s words.
Judith couldn’t restrain herself any longer. She stood up and said, “Louisa, don’t go too far. When did Mr. Taylor try to silence you? What evidence do you have? Why would he want to silence you? Do you have
persecution delusions?”
Louisa turned to her unhurriedly, her lips curving into a calm smile. “Ms. Murphy, you seem eager to speak. Are you trying to divert attention from Patrick’s attempted murder so we can focus on your embezzlement and misappropriation of funds?”
“What embezzlement?” Judith panicked visibly, immediately countering, “We have no grudge between us.
How dare you slander me like this?”

Not giving Louisa a chance to respond, she quickly turned to Teresa, “Ms. Hughes, Louisa’s return at this moment seems designed to humiliate me, but she’s really here to make you look foolish.
“Perhaps this ‘escape from death‘ drama was self–orchestrated–just to impress Mr. Tudor and embarrass you in front of him. Louisa’s scheming runs incredibly deep.”
