Chapter 699 Jack Is Arrested At Last
“Now there’s just one left.
Who was that?
Obviously.
Just then, the news broke in.
“The reporter has learned that Mr. Langstrom is under investigation by the disciplinary committee for serious violations of law and discipline… Mr. Langstrom is suspected of using his position to secure improper benefits in project contracting, business operations, and policy support, and is suspected of taking vast sums in bribes…inciting others to commit crimes… multiple homicides…”
As the news anchor spoke, footage aired.
In the Langstrom family’s back garden, Jack had received an early warning and tried to flee–but he was surrounded and arrested.
When he was pinned to the ground, all his previous gentleness was gone. Only panic remained.
Jack had been caught!
“Hah…”
Liam burst into laughter.
He couldn’t stop.
Like a kid who’d just gotten a present.
Tatiana watched him, “You’re happy?”
“Of course. My oh–so–high–and–mighty father–this is the first time he’s ever been treated like this. Too many years of being pampered–he’s forgotten who he really is.”
Liam was in a great mood. He kept talking.
“Know why I didn’t kill him? Why I sent him to prison instead?
“A man like him–he cares more about face than anything. Death’s too easy. The best punishment is losing everything while you’re still alive. Like a pathetic worm.
“There are plenty of people in prison who hate him. He’s going to have a very full life in there.”
Liam looked like he was thinking of something joyful. The smile never left his face.
Tatiana finally asked, “Can you let me go now?”
“Do you really want to leave me that badly?”
“I thought you understood why I was marrying you.”
“I do. So you never felt anything for me?”
Liam leaned in close, a hint of expectation in his eyes.
Tatiana smiled, “Liam. You already know she answer.”
It was always an act. From the very beginning.
“Tatiana, you’re cruel. I really did like you–even knowing you were hiding something.
“Your kind of ‘like‘ means keeping a backup child while marrying me? Don’t pretend, Liam. Maybe you did like me—but not that much. The person you love most is yourself.”
Liam burst out laughing.
“Of course. You know me best. If things were different, maybe we could’ve been happy together.”
“No, Even without all that, you’re still not my type.”
“Oh? Your type–Jasper?”
“That’s none of your business.”
“You’re not afraid that if I get angry, you’ll suffer?”
