“He’s closed his link, but he’s up on his floor, so I’ll take you up there.” Inside, I start panicking while my instinct to run tries to kick in. “I don’t want to disturb him. If he’s closed his link, he wants to be left alone, and we should respect that.”
A laugh bubbles its way out of me at his playfulness because he always seems to be the quiet, mysterious one, but from what I’ve learned tonight, Robbie has a wicked sense of humor and a heart the size of the ocean. “Oh, we wouldn’t want that to happen now would we?” He nods while trying to hold a fake pout, but he just ends up doubling over as he laughs. I was more than prepared to stay in a room and see Nick tomorrow as I didn’t want to disturb him, but I can’t deny how happy both Lexi and I feel at the idea of seeing our mates again.
As we reach the Alpha floor, I feel my nerves kick in, but I try not to show them. Robbie takes me through a door and we enter a living area. It is pretty dark in here, but it’s clear to see that it is massive and absolutely beautiful. “At this time he is more than likely in his bedroom. If you go down that little hallway, his room is the 3rd room on the left.”
Before I can say anything, Robbie starts heading for the door, leaving me standing in the middle of Nick’s living area all alone. “You’re leaving?” He gives me a smirk. “Of course. Unless you want me to stay and have a sleepover with you and Nicky?” I can’t help but laugh when I realize how stupid I sounded, but thankfully, Robbie saw the funny side to it. I shake my head silently answering his question as he gives me a wave before exiting the room.
As soon as the door closes behind him, I take a moment to look around the room while I take deep breaths trying to calm my nerves. I’ve been around my mate a lot these past few days, so why am I so nervous? “Well, there’s the fact that you are on his floor, in his living area, and about to go and find him in his bedroom.” Of course, it’s now that Lex decides to stick her two-pence in after the girl has been radio silent most of the day. “You’re welcome!” Goddess give me strength!
Before I can freak myself out, even more, I straighten up my spine, square out my shoulders, and tell myself to stop being so dramatic and head for the door that Robbie told me was Nick’s bedroom. As soon as I’m standing outside, I knock before I can lose my nerve and suck in a deep breath when the door swings open, and I’m greeted by the sight of my mate in just a towel. Oh goddess have Mercy!
Alpha Nicholas
Watching my mate leave with my brother was hard. While every fiber of my being was telling me to stop her, the sensible part of me knew that I had to let her go, no matter how much I wanted to keep her with me and never let her go. Before she left, I saw the look in her eyes. She was struggling with her thoughts and needed some time. As her mate, I want the best for her and if her taking some time to be on her own is what she needs, then that is what I have to do.
“Bonnie!” My tone is harsher this time, but it seems to do the trick as she jumps a little before letting out the cutest little laugh. “Sorry… I… ah… No, nothing is wrong… I… am…” She’s the cutest when she’s shuttering. “You what, Bon?” She shakes her head a little and suddenly her cheeks start to turn a little pink. “I wanted to come back here. Robbie brought me back and showed me into your living area… told me which door was for your bedroom.
I expected to stay in a room, but he insisted that I come here… he said that… that you wouldn’t be happy if you found out that I was in another room.” Her stuttering has turned into rambling, and now I’m not sure which one is the cutest. “Well, Robbie was right about that.” Her head shoots up, and it’s clear to see that she wasn’t expecting me to agree with him. “Why did you want to come back with Robbie, darling?”
Without saying another word, I take a step towards her and take her hand in mine before pulling her into my room and pushing her up against the door as I close it. It’s time to get things between me and my mate straightened out, once and for all!
