The moment he says my mate’s name I feel my blood instantly boil.

Who the fuck is this motherfucker? If he thinks he can just stroll in here and walk right on out with my mate then he’s got another thing coming. I will tear him limb from limb before | let that happen. “Who are you and how the hell did you even get in here?” I growl trying and failing to keep my tone calm. He raises a single brow as a cocky smile covers his face and I swear it takes all I have not to knock him the fuck out right here right now.

“Do it. On second thoughts, let me at him. Fucker won’t have a thing to be cocky about by the time I’m finished with him.” Cain growls as he comes to the front of my mind. “Td be more than happy to let you do it but right now, we need to find out what exactly it is that this prick wants with our mate.” He doesn’t say another word but he grunts and stomps around in my head hard enough to make it more than clear about how he feels and I get it, I do because I feel the same way.

“I believe my brother asked you a question and I suggest you answer him!” Nick growls bringing my attention back to the prick who thinks he’s taking my mate. The guy looks straight at me and despite his cocky look, I don’t miss the slight fear in his eyes. If he’s afraid already then he’s in for a world of surprise and pain if he doesn’t tell us what we want to know and soon.

“My name is Talon, l am… was a member of the pack that you destroyed and Aria is my mate. I didn’t come here to cause trouble but I won’t be leaving without my mate.” Yeah, this guy is seriously cooked.

“And how did you get in here?” He seems to be trying to avoid that question but I’m not letting it go. Something is clearly off with this guy and of course, Nick has already picked up on it too as suddenly six of our warriors come from outside of the room and surround the prick.

“Why the need for so many men?” He asks looking around him once again appearing unfazed and cocky but showing the fear in his eyes.

He needs to learn how to control his emotions. Then again, if he doesn’t start answering our questions or leave my mate alone thenworking on his emotions will no longer be needed

” don’t know you. Don’t trust you, and until I’m convinced otherwise you wilt be treated with suspicion.” Nick growls his Alpha tone coming to the surface and making him stand tall like the powerful Alpha that he is. “Now, I’m going to ask you one last time and if you don’t answer…

Well, let’s just say you won’t like what happens.” | growl. I’m so fucking pissed and Cane isn’t helping me either which makes keeping control so much harder.

“Fine. I jumped on the back of the last vehicle that left the campsite.

When you stopped I crawled underneath to hide out and once we were here and everyone was inside I was able to slip in pretty easily, I just told the guard that I was part of the rescue team and they believed me.

“Idon’t buy that story. There’s some truth to it but there’s also something not right.” | grunt over a link that I open up with Nick, Shane and Will.”

“Same,” Shane grunts.

“Yep, I’m with you,” Will says next.

“You’re safe here, ok? I’m not going to let anyone hurt you, none of us will.” She gives me the smallest of smiles and fuck does it make my heart skip a beat. “I said please,” She whispers but this time her voice is a little louder and I can hear her. “Please what?” She looks past me to the prick behind me before looking back at me.

“Please, don’t let him take me. I promise I’ll be good. Or if you don’t want me here then that’s ok, l’ll leave and you’ll never have to see me again but please, don’t let him take me, I’m begging you.” Her voice is desperate as she once again grips my shirt. She seems so lost in her head that for a moment she doesn’t even realise that she is doing it.

She looks back at Talon and it’s then that I see the fear in her eyes before she brings her attention back to me where she sees her hand that’s wrapped around the end of my shirt. She quickly lets go and I don’t miss the slight tremor in her hand. “I’m sorry, goddess I’m sosorry.” What the hell has my girl been through? I take hold of her hand and guide it back to my shirt wrapping her fingers around the end. It’s – comforting her so I’m not about to take it away from her.

“Maybe she’s sensing that she can trust us without even realizing that she is our mate.” Cane comments and I have to agree. She seems different with me to the others. I hope she can sense something. I hope she feels safe with me because over my dead body will | let anything happen to her regardless of her age?

I feel a presence at my back just seconds before Nick, Shane and Will all come to stand beside me and I instantly feel Aria’s grip on my shirt tighten even more. “Robbie.” Fuck, who knew that someone calling my name could evoke so many emotions inside of me.

“Please.” She pleads making me realise that I haven’t answered her.

“You’re not going to do anything that you don’t want to. i promise.” My words are firm and said that way for her to know that I’m not messing around here. She’s my mate and she’s staying here where she belongs with me, even if she can’t know any of this for a while. “Promise?” She asks for a moment showing me her youth and vulnerability. “I promise.

“It’s a promise that I have every intention of keeping.
