Theron sat in the back of the sedan, pressing the ice pack against his bruising jaw. He listened to Ronan’s plan to cripple Amelia’s hands, but he didn’t look convinced. He shook his head slowly.
“You are focusing on the wrong thing,” Theron said, wincing as his jaw moved. “That girl, Amelia… she is not worth our direct effort.”
Ronan frowned. “She is the one healing him. If we stop her-”
“If we touch her, we start a war with the Stone family before we are ready,” Theron interrupted. “Look at the Stone River Pack. It is a mess. That girl didn’t just come back to play house. She is tearing them apart from the inside.”
Theron gestured vaguely towards the window. “Ethan and Caleb are fighting tooth and nail for the inheritance. And now this ‘little white rabbit‘ returns and Caleb ends up in a coma? It is not a coincidence.”
Ronan paused, considering his father’s words.
“The Stone family wants to get rid of her more than we do,” Theron continued, his voice low. “Ethan hates her. Livia despises her. Why should we get our hands dirty? Let them destroy each other. If we attack her now, we might accidentally unite them against an external enemy.”
Ronan leaned back against the leather seat. The tension in his shoulders eased slightly. “You think they will finish her off for us?”
“I am counting on it,” Theron grunted. “Don’t create extra problems, Ronan. We watch, and we wait.”
Ronan nodded slowly. “You’re right. I was too rash.”
At nine o’clock that evening, Amelia sat in her hospital bed. She had finished her dinner and was looking at her phone. The screen displayed a live feed from the hidden cameras in her bedroom back at the Pack House.
On the screen, the room was dark. Suddenly, movement caught her eye.

In the corner of her room, three small snakes raised their heads. They flicked their tongues, tasting the air, and then swiftly slithered into the shadows beneath the heavy curtains.
A moment later, the window latch clicked. It slid open. A figure dressed entirely in black, with a cap pulled low, climbed silently into the room.
Amelia watched calmly as the intruder began to rifle through her things. He ignored the jewelry box. He went straight for the wooden cabinet where she kept her dried herbs. He opened the drawers, sniffing at jars and bottles.
“Ethan acts fast,” Amelia murmured to herself. “He thinks the antidote is just sitting there.”
She tapped the microphone button on her screen. Her voice traveled through the hidden speakers in her room, soft but clear.
“White.”
It was a single command.
On the screen, a pale blur shot out from the herb cabinet. The intruder froze, hearing a hiss,
but it was too late.
*Strike.*
The white snake sank its fangs into the man’s ankle.
The intruder yelped, a strangled sound of panic. He stumbled back, clutching his leg. The venom wasn’t lethal, but it was designed to paralyze nerves instantly. His leg gave out. Terror overtook him. He didn’t dare search anymore. He scrambled back to the window, dragging his numb leg, and threw himself out into the night.
Inside Amelia’s mind, Ava snorted.
*You are too soft,* the wolf growled. *You should have let White rip his throat out.*
*Death is too easy,* Amelia replied internally, soothing her wolf. *Ethan wants the cure. If I kill his messenger, he stops trying. I want to give him hope.*
Amelia smiled coldly at the empty room on her screen.
*I will let him think he can buy it,* she thought. *I will attend the auction as the Shadow Apothecary. Let him find me. Let him pay a fortune. And then, when he realizes who hold his life in her hands… that will be the real punishment.*
Ethan paced back and forth in his office at Starlight Entertainment. The city lights outside

were bright, but his mood was pitch black.
The phone on his desk rang. Ethan snatched it up.
“Did you get it?” he demanded.

“Mr. Stone…” Zachary’s voice came through, shaky and weak. “I… I can’t do this anymore.”
“What are you talking about?” Ethan barked. “Where is the medicine?”
“There is no medicine!” Zachary cried out. “There are snakes! Poisonous snakes in her bedroom! I was bitten, Mr. Stone. I’m at the healing center now. My leg is completely numb.”
Ethan froze. “Snakes? In her bedroom?”
“Yes! A white one. It was waiting for me,” Zachary stammered. “I quit. Keep your money. I’m not going back there.”
The line went dead.
Ethan stared at the phone. “She keeps vipers in her room?”
He slammed the handset down. “She is a lunatic! A complete psycho!”
He sank into his leather chair, rubbing his temples. He had to pay Zachary’s medical bills to keep him quiet, which only added to his fury. But the fear was creeping in. He had underestimated Amelia. She wasn’t just a country bumpkin. She was dangerous.
“I can’t steal it,” Ethan muttered. “And she won’t give it to me.”
He pulled open his drawer and took out the file on the “Shadow Apothecary.”
“The auction,” he whispered. “That is my only chance.”
He picked up his cell phone and dialed his head of security.
“Listen to me,” Ethan ordered. “Send men to the auction house. Every day. If anyone lists rare moonlight herbs, or if anyone mentions the Shadow Apothecary, I want to know immediately.
Do not fail me.”
He hung up and turned his chair to face the window. He looked out at the dark skyline, feeling a heavy weight in his chest.
“Just you wait, Amelia,” he hissed. “Once I am cured, I will crush you.”
At eleven o’clock, the door to the VIP ward opened. Celine walked in, looking tired.

Livia was standing by Caleb’s bed, adjusting the blanket. She looked up sharply as Celine entered.
“You’re late,” Livia snapped.
“I’m sorry, Mother,” Celine said meekly. “Traffic was bad.”

Livia walked over and grabbed Celine’s arm. Her grip was tight. “Listen to me. You need to secure Rhys Calder. Do whatever it takes.”
Celine nodded, wincing slightly. “I know. I’m trying.”
“Try harder. Your grandfather… that old fool… he is giving Amelia too much power. If she takes control of Stone Botanicals and brings in the Calder family, we are finished. You understand? We will have nothing.”
Celine lowered her eyes. “Yes, Mother.”
Inside, Celine scoffed. She knew exactly what would happen. If the Stone family fell, she would be the first one kicked out. She needed a rich mate, and she needed one fast.
“And do not mention the shares to anyone,” Livia warned, her eyes narrowing. “If people know Alaric gave her those assets, it will make us look weak.”
Livia turned back to look at comatose Caleb. Her face twisted in anger.
“That wretched girl,” Livia spat. “She put him here. If Caleb doesn’t wake up, I will make her life a living hell.”
Livia grabbed her purse and stormed out of the room, leaving a trail of expensive perfume
and bitterness.
Celine stood in the silence. The door clicked shut.
She walked slowly to the side of the bed. She looked down at Caleb. His face was pale, peaceful. He looked like he was just sleeping.
Celine’s expression went cold. The meek daughter act vanished.
“You really messed up, brother,” she whispered, her voice dripping with mockery.
She reached out and poked his arm, not gently.
“Because of you, Amelia won,” Celine said to the unconscious man. “She had the video of you cutting her brakes. Mom and Dad had to pay up to keep her from going to the police.”
Celine leaned closer, her blue eyes gleaming with malice.

“Grandfather Alaric signed the papers today,” she hissed. “He transferred 10% of the Pharmaceutical company to her. And that’s not all. She now owns 30% of Starlight Entertainment. She is your boss now, Caleb. So you better wake up soon, or you won’t have a company left to sing for.”
