Chapter 110: The Shadow Apothecary’s Trap
Chapter 110: The Shadow Apothecary’s Trap
(Author’s POV)
The car sped away from the hospital, leaving the heavy atmosphere behind.
Seraphina gripped the steering wheel, a sudden laugh escaping her lips. She glanced at Amelia in the passenger seat.
“Amelia, you made Livia furious back there,” Seraphina teased, her eyes bright with amusement. “I swear I heard that poor coffee cup crush in her hand.”

Amelia adjusted her perfect makeup in the rearview mirror. She didn’t look the least bit guilty.
“Honestly, Mom, I did her a favor,” Amelia said, a wicked curve touching her lips. “Her face was turning a lovely shade of purple–it really brings out her eyes.”
Seraphina shook her head, a look of admiration softening her features. She was glad to see her daughter had grown sharp claws. In this pack, you needed them to survive.
Amelia pulled out her phone. Her fingers tapped the screen as she dialed Ethan’s number.
The call connected. Amelia’s expression turned cold instantly.
“Is the plot for the moonlight herbs finished?” she asked, her voice commanding. “Good. Wait there. I’m coming to inspect it.”
She hung up without waiting for a reply.
Seraphina frowned slightly, confusion clouding her mind. The hierarchy in werewolf families was strict. Ethan was one of the potential Alpha heirs. He had always been arrogant and dismissive of anyone he deemed weaker.
Yet, ever since Caleb’s car accident, Ethan’s attitude toward Amelia had shifted. He was submissive. Almost fearful.
Seraphina tapped her fingers on the wheel. She wondered what kind of hold Amelia had on him. It was incredible, like she had cast a spell or held a knife to his throat invisible to everyone else.
Back at the Stone River Pack House, Amelia went straight to her room.

She opened a secure terrarium. Three venomous vipers slithered inside, their scales glistening under the heat lamp. She dropped food into the tank and watched them strike with deadly precision.
Once they were fed, she headed to the backyard.
She walked unhurriedly toward the newly designated herb garden. Ethan was already there. He stood by the fresh soil, his face dark and sullen.
“It’s all here,” Ethan said stiffly as she approached. “Inspect it.”
Amelia walked a slow circle around the plot. The soil had been turned perfectly.
Inside her mind, her wolf, Ava, let out a scornful snort.
*“Look at this once mighty Alpha,“* Ava growled with amusement. *“He obeys like a lowly gardener. It is a delightful sight.“*
Amelia agreed silently. She stepped closer to Ethan. She reached out and brushed a speck of dust from the shoulder of his expensive suit.
Ethan flinched but didn’t pull away.
“You have a natural talent for digging in the dirt, brother,” Amelia mocked, her voice smooth.
“It suits you better than trying to run a company you’re destined to lose.”
Ethan’s face turned a violent shade of purple. His jaw clenched.
“Shut up,” he hissed through gritted teeth.
Amelia didn’t stop. She circled him like a predator.
“You have no business sense,” she stated bluntly. “You won’t get control of the entertainment company back. But if you keep acting like a good little puppy, I might hire you as a groundskeeper.”
Ethan trembled with rage. His fists balled at his sides, but he didn’t dare strike her.
Amelia watched him shake. She decided to test him.
“I’m going to the central auction house tonight,” she said casually. “I need to see what’s on
the market.”
Ethan’s head snapped up. His eyes darted nervously. He was clearly suspicious.
He had been secretly searching for the legendary “Shadow Apothecary” to cure his poison. He feared Amelia might ruin his plans.

“I’m just browsing,” Amelia added lightly.
“I’m not going with you,” Ethan said quickly, turning to leave. “I have things to do.”
“Wait,” Amelia called out.
Ethan froze. He turned back slowly.
Amelia locked eyes with him. A cruel smile played on her lips.

“You know, Ethan, I had a rat problem last night,” she said softly. “A suicidal little thing tried to break into my room.”
Ethan went still.
“I almost felt bad,” Amelia continued, letting the words hang in the air. “The traps I set don’t just kill; they burn through flesh from the inside out. I’d hate for anyone important to melt before the family reunion.”
Blood drained from Ethan’s face. He turned pale instantly. Cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
He realized how close he had come to a gruesome death. If his thief had touched anything in her room last night…
He needed to be more careful. The antidote was his only hope.
Ethan didn’t say another word. He turned and limped away as fast as his legs could carry him, looking like a frightened dog.
Amelia watched his retreating back. She let out a cold sneer and turned away from the garden.
Dinner was simple that evening. The kitchen staff served roast venison seasoned with herbs.
After the meal, Amelia went to the garage. She selected a brand–new sports car, the engine purring as she started it.
She drove through the city lights to Kane’s Auction House. It was the largest and most exclusive auction venue in the city.
Valerius Kane, the owner, was waiting near the entrance. When he saw Amelia approach, his eyes lit up. He hurried over, rubbing his hands together.
“Miss Stone!” Valerius greeted warmly. “I assume you bring more treasures?”
Amelia stepped out of the car. She looked at him coolly.

“What about the rare moonlight herbs I consigned last time?” she asked. “Why haven’t they been sold?”
Valerius bowed slightly, his expression apologetic but calculating.
“Please understand, Miss Stone,” he explained. “Those herbs are incredibly rare. I am waiting for the perfect moment. We need the most generous buyers to ensure the price reaches the sky. I want to maximize your profit.”
Amelia smirked.
“You’re a greedy bastard, Valerius,” she said. “I like that about you.”
Valerius chuckled, taking it as a compliment.
Amelia leaned against her car, her posture relaxed.
“I heard a rumor,” she said, her voice dropping. “Is Ethan Stone asking around about the ‘Shadow Apothecary“?”
Valerius nodded immediately. Information was his business, after all.
“Yes,” Valerius confirmed. “He is offering a heavy price for any lead on that mysterious
figure.”
A cunning light flashed in Amelia’s eyes. This was the opening she had been waiting for.
She looked at Valerius, the corner of her mouth lifting.
“Let’s verify that rumor for him,” Amelia commanded. “Tell him the Shadow Apothecary will make an appearance this weekend. Use one of my herbs as the bait.”
She paused, imagining the scene. A truly evil smile blossomed on her face.
“I want to see the look on his face when he thinks he’s finally won,” she whispered, “right
before I crush him.”
