Chapter 177: Here to Make You Miserable
Chapter 177: Here to Make You Miserable
(Author’s POV)
Carlos Drake did not back down just because Theodore Crimson was present. In fact, the presence of the Crimson heir seemed to make him act even more erratic, like a rabid cur barking at a lion. He puffed out his chest and pointed a shaking finger directly at Amelia’s face. Spittle flew from his mouth as he shouted.
“It doesn’t matter if the Alpha King’s heir is backing you!” Carlos screamed, his eyes bulging. “You are just a stray! I must make this girl who doesn’t know her place apologize to me today! Or the Drake family will never let this go!”
Theodore sat in his wheelchair, his expression unreadable. His long fingers tapped rhythmically against the armrest. Tap. Tap. Tap. A flash of murderous intent flickered in his eyes. He did not explode with rage immediately. He just watched this middle–aged man with a cold, detached stare, as if looking at a dead man walking.
Carlos and Matriarch Octavia Drake continued their tirade. They fed off each other’s energy, spewing vicious insults at Amelia. They called her wild, uneducated, and a disgrace.
Theodore’s face grew darker with every word. Finally, he spoke. His voice was low, but it cut through the noise like a blade of ice.
“Did the Drake family eat shit for breakfast?” Theodore asked calmly. “Your mouths stink.”
Behind him, his Beta, Marcus, quickly lowered his head. He coughed to cover the sound of his laughter and the twitching corner of his mouth.
Octavia’s face turned purple. She opened her mouth to snap back, but Amelia was faster. Amelia waved her hand in front of her face, grimacing as if she were shooing away a persistent, buzzing fly. She cut off Theodore, who was ready to defend her further.
“Octavia, please,” Amelia said, looking at the older woman with pure disgust. “Your breath smells like something rotting in a sewer. It is both rancid and unwanted. Save it.”
A loud, uninhibited laugh erupted from nearby. Natasha couldn’t help herself. She covered her mouth, her eyes dancing with amusement.
Livia panicked. She saw the rage building in Octavia’s eyes. She rushed forward, desperate to keep the peace. She needed Amelia to cure Caleb. She needed to save Seraphina.
“Matriarch Drake, please ignore her,” Livia pleaded, glaring at Amelia. “I promise she will

apologize. She will do exactly as she is told.”

Theodore prepared to speak again. He wanted to make it clear that no one ordered Amelia around. But Amelia simply reached out and placed her hand firmly on his shoulder. It was a dominant gesture. She was taking control of the room.
“Thanks for the PR speech, honey,” Amelia said to Livia, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “But I think they know exactly who I am.”
She turned her head slowly. Her gaze was sharp as a razor blade. She locked eyes with Griffin Drake, who had been watching silently from the side. Her lips curled into a dangerous smile.
“Frankly, Griffin,” she said softly. “I don’t need a shadow. Because I am the darkness you should fear.”
Griffin Drake’s expression shifted. He had heard rumors that Theodore valued this lost daughter of the Stone family. But he hadn’t expected the woman herself to be this formidable. Griffin had always been second best. In the elite circles, they called him the “eternal runner–up” to Theodore.
He forced a malicious smile onto his face. His grey eyes dropped to Theodore’s legs. They were motionless in the wheelchair.
“Theodore, long time no see,” Griffin sneered. “It seems the rumors are true. The former heir
to the Alpha King needs help just to stand up now.”
(Theodore’s POV)
I looked at Griffin. I did not feel the anger he wanted me to feel. Inside my mind, Logan let out
a dismissive snort.
*“The Alpha King from never cares about a mutt’s barking,“* Logan said.
I kept my face calm. I looked at Griffin like he was a bug I couldn’t be bothered to crush.
“After looking from high up for so long, the view from down here is interesting,” I said, my voice steady. “It is a different perspective. But you wouldn’t understand that state of mind. You have always been the one being stepped on under my feet.”
The words hit their mark. It was like an invisible slap across his face. Griffin stiffened. He looked like he had punched thin air. He had no comeback.
Octavia saw her grandson losing the verbal battle. She stepped in immediately.
“The tables turn, Theodore,” she said coldly. “We will see who is the Alpha King of the North
in the future.”

Livia was vibrating with anxiety. She didn’t care about power struggles. She only cared about her son. She impatiently urged Ethan and Celine to guide the Drake family inside.
“Let’s go in,” Livia insisted. “Caleb is waiting.”
Before he turned away, Carlos glared at Amelia one last time. His eyes were full of hate.
“You’ll see,” he whispered, a low threat meant only for her. “You’re going to pay.”
Amelia didn’t flinch. Instead, she suddenly stepped forward. She invaded his personal space, her face inches from his. She wore a mocking, provocative smirk.
“Keep promising me a show, idiot,” she said. “I might actually believe you.”
Carlos stumbled back half a step, startled by her aggression. Griffin looked back at Amelia deeply. A seed of doubt planted itself in his mind. Did Adrian and Livia really have this
woman under control? She didn’t look controlled.
Octavia raised her voice, making sure Theodore heard her.
“The Crimson heir is a cripple now,” she announced to the air. “He is no match for you anymore, Griffin.”
The group moved toward the house. As soon as the Drakes were out of earshot, Livia turned on Amelia. Her mask of politeness vanished. She thought having the Drake family there gave
her power.
“You better be smart,” Livia hissed, her voice cold. “Behave yourself. Or you will know how
serious the consequences are.”
Amelia stopped walking. She didn’t look at Theodore for comfort. She didn’t look scared. She walked straight up to Livia. Her blue eyes scanned her mother with contempt.
“Consequences?” Amelia laughed. It was a light, chilling sound. She spread her arms wide, gesturing to the chaos around them. “Livia, open your eyes. I am the consequence.”
She turned her head and winked at Theodore. Theodore returned the gesture with an indulgent smile.
Behind them, Natasha’s group of friends were whispering. They were staring at Theodore with wide eyes.
“He is so handsome,” one whispered. “It’s a tragedy about his legs.”
Natasha frowned. She interrupted their sighing with a proud look.

“Don’t worry about it,” Natasha declared. “The future Luna… I mean Amelia, she will definitely cure Theodore’s legs. She can do anything.”
Natasha was Amelia’s number one fan. She was ready to list all of Amelia’s achievements. But a cool voice cut through the air.
“Natasha, keep up,” Amelia called out without looking back.
Natasha clamped her mouth shut immediately. She nodded vigorously and trotted after Amelia like an eager puppy, dragging her friends along.
The large group walked into the living room. It was crowded. Livia barked orders at the bodyguards. They carefully placed the unconscious Caleb on the large sofa.
Everyone looked around. On the other side of the room, Alpha Adrian sat on a separate sofa. He was wearing hospital pajamas. His face was pale and sweaty. The stab wound from Jaxon Stone was clearly still causing him pain.
Livia looked at the room full of unrelated people. Her patience snapped. She glared at Amelia, her teeth gritted.
“Why did you bring so many people?” she demanded. “Stop stalling! Wake Caleb up right
now!”
Amelia stood in the center of the room. She looked at the greedy faces of the Stone family. She looked at the hateful faces of the Drake family. She looked at the curious faces of
Natasha’s friends.
She dropped all pretense. She didn’t look like a scared daughter or a compliant healer. She looked at her fingernails, examining them with bored interest. A cruel, playful smile touched her lips.
“Why the audience?” Amelia asked, her voice light and airy. “Oh, purely because watching you all implode will be the highlight of my year. And you know, I hate drinking alone.”
