Livia’s eyes bulged wide at Amelia’s words. Her face flushed red with instant humiliation and rage. She shrieked, her voice piercing the tense air of the living room.
“Amelia, you ungrateful brat!” Livia screamed, pointing a trembling finger. “How dare you speak to me in that tone! Have you forgotten your situation? Have you forgotten who holds the cards?”
Amelia did not flinch. She did not show the fear or the need to explain herself that Livia expected. Instead, she looked at her biological mother as if she were observing a particularly stupid insect. A cold, deeply sarcastic sneer curled the corner of her lips.
“Situation?” Amelia repeated, the word rolling off her tongue with lazy contempt. “Livia, did you really think I bowed my head before because I was afraid of you?”
She laughed softly, a sound that mocked Livia’s very existence. It was like she was teasing a hamster trying to bite a steel bar.
“You thought that because you kidnapped my mother Seraphina, you had won?” Amelia asked, her voice hardening. “You thought that cutting off her finger with her mating ring and mailing it to me would force me to kneel? You thought threats would make me your puppet?”
Livia felt her heart sink like a stone. A cold feeling settled in her stomach. Something was wrong. Amelia’s attitude was too relaxed. She didn’t look like a victim. She looked like a predator playing with her food.
The charade was over. Adrian saw no point in maintaining the image of a loving father any longer. He stepped forward, his face twisting into a scowl. His Alpha Aura poured out, heavy and suffocating, filling the room with a dark chill.
“Amelia,” Adrian said, his voice low and menacing. “It seems you really don’t care about your adoptive mother’s life.”
He wanted to crush her defiance. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He held it up for her to see. His finger hovered over the dial button. His eyes were filled with
venom.
“I will call Harvey right now,” Adrian threatened. “I will tell him to cut off another one of Seraphina’s fingers. Or maybe this time, I should ask for an ear?”

Amelia didn’t panic. She didn’t even sit up straight. She leaned back against the sofa cushions, looking completely bored. She waved her hand at him, a gesture of pure invitation. It was as if she were watching a clown perform a bad trick.
“Call him,” she challenged. Her voice held a disturbing note of excitement. “Dial the number.
Do it right now. I really want to see the look on your face when no one answers.”
Adrian grit his teeth. His finger moved to press the call button.
*Ring. Ring. Ring.*
A crisp, clear cellphone ringtone echoed from outside the villa’s main door.
Adrian froze. His finger stopped inches from his screen.
A familiar, firm voice rang out from the entrance.
“Adrian, save it. Amelia isn’t worried because she knows exactly where I am.”
Adrian spun around, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Seraphina walked through the door. She was unharmed. Flanking her were Patriarch Alaric and Jaxon Stone. They looked like executioners.
Adrian stared at Seraphina’s hands. She held them up. Ten fingers. No blood. No bandages.
He had been completely played.
Amelia reached into her pocket. She pulled out a small, exquisite wooden box. She didn’t treat it with importance. She flicked her wrist and slid the box across the coffee table like it
was trash.
The box spun and hit Adrian’s hand with a soft thud.
Amelia leaned forward. Her voice dropped, sounding like a devil whispering in the dark.
“I think this belongs to your watchdog,” she said. “He won’t be needing it anymore. But I thought you might want a souvenir.”
Adrian’s hands shook uncontrollably. He pried the lid open. His breath stopped.
Inside lay a finger. But it wasn’t slender or feminine. It was thick, rough, and covered in calluses. It was a man’s finger.
“Harvey,” Adrian gasped.
*“A thoughtful gift, isn’t it?“* Amelia mocked.

Before Adrian could recover from the shock, Jaxon raised his hand.
“Bring him!” Jaxon barked.

Several strong warriors dragged a man into the room. It was Harvey. He was beaten black and blue, his face swollen and unrecognizable. He was bound tight with ropes. He looked like a beaten cur, whimpering in fear.
Adrian felt a chill run down his spine. His heart plummeted to the floor. The sight of his loyal servant in such a state confirmed his worst nightmare. The kidnapping plot was exposed. There was no way to talk his way out of this.
Jaxon stood over him like an angry god of war.
“Adrian,” Jaxon asked coldly. “In front of Father, what excuses do you have left?”
Alaric looked at the son he had once placed so much hope in. His grey eyes were filled with disappointment and burning rage.
“You bastard!” Alaric roared. “You actually hired people to kidnap your own brother’s mate?”
Adrian’s lips trembled. He couldn’t speak. He just shook like a leaf.
Alaric lost all control. He was shaking with fury. He raised his heavy wooden cane high in the
air.
“How can there be such scum in our Pack!”
*Thwack!*
He swung the cane with all his might. It slammed into Adrian’s body.
Adrian screamed. The blow hit his stomach, right where Jaxon had stabbed him earlier. The wound tore open instantly. Fresh, bright red blood soaked through his hospital pajamas.
“Father, stop!” Livia screamed. She rushed forward, desperate. “You’ll kill him!”
She tried to grab the cane. Alaric didn’t stop. He swung again, blindly. The heavy wood cracked against Livia’s arm. She shrieked in pain.
Ethan Stone saw his mother get hit. He jumped in to shield her.
*Crack!*
The cane landed hard on Ethan’s back. He grunted, falling to his knees.
The living room turned into chaos. Screams of pain and pleas for mercy filled the air.

Suddenly, a voice boomed from the doorway. It was old, but it carried immense weight.
“Adrian, you kidnapped my daughter. Do you think a few hits with a stick will settle this debt?”
The beating stopped. Everyone looked up.
Edmund and Helena Grey walked in. Behind them marched five tall, imposing men. Seraphina’s brothers. The Grey family Alphas.
They radiated power and anger. The five uncles stared at Adrian with eyes that promised violence. They looked ready to tear him apart piece by piece.
Adrian and Livia turned pale. Their blood ran cold. They never expected the Grey family to show up in full force.
Seraphina walked to Amelia’s side. She stood tall.
“This is my family,” she announced, her voice gentle but firm. “My parents. My brothers. Today, we will not let Adrian’s brood off lightly.”
The Drake family, who had planned to watch Amelia suffer, now looked sick. Their faces were grim. They realized the tables had turned completely. The internal conflict in the Stone family was far more dangerous than they had imagined.
Alaric took a deep breath. He looked at Edmund Grey.
“I promise you,” Alaric said gravely. “I will not protect him.”
He turned his glare back to Adrian and his family.
“You have crossed the bottom line of this family. This is unforgivable!”
Livia saw their power crumbling to dust. She was desperate. Her hair was messy, her face wet with tears. She threw herself at Alaric’s feet.
“Father, please!” Livia wailed. She tried to confuse the situation. “We were forced! It was Amelia! She poisoned Ethan first! She wanted to kill her own brother! We only kidnapped Seraphina to get the antidote! We had no choice!”
Alaric paused. He frowned. He looked at Amelia, who was watching the scene with cold indifference.
“Amelia,” Alaric asked, doubt creeping into his voice. “Is what your mother said true? Did you poison Ethan?”
Amelia didn’t even look at her angry grandfather. She turned her gaze to Ethan, who was curled up on the floor, groaning. She let out a short, arrogant laugh.

“Oh, please,” she said. Her tone was light, mocking Livia’s pathetic logic. “If I had really wanted to poison Ethan, do you think he would still be here whining?”
She smirked, her eyes flashing with a terrifying coldness.
“I don’t leave survivors.”
