Chapter 181: Long Time No See
Chapter 181: Long Time No See
(Author’s POV)
Octavia’s patience finally snapped.
She rose from her seat, her cold grey eyes fixed on Alpha Alaric.

“Alaric,” Octavia said, her voice cutting through the room like ice. “Two days ago, this girl broke into Drake Pack territory and assaulted my son. Now the ‘apology‘ Livia promised has
turned into this circus.”
She gestured at the blood–stained table where Adrian clutched his mutilated hand.
“You are the Alpha of Stone River Pack,” Octavia continued. “You will give the Drake family a satisfactory explanation. Now.”
The room fell silent.
Everyone turned to look at Alaric.
The old Alpha stood slowly. His grey eyes swept across the room, lingering on his son Adrian, then on Amelia.
“From this moment forward,” Alaric announced, his voice clear and firm, “all matters concerning Stone River Pack will be handled by Amelia Stone. She has full authority over Pack affairs.”
Gasps echoed through the room.
“If the Drake family wishes to pursue this matter,” Alaric continued, “speak directly to Amelia. I will not interfere.”
Adrian’s eyes went wide. The pain in his hand vanished, replaced by shock.
His father had just abandoned him completely.
Octavia’s eyebrows rose. Then she let out a cold, mocking laugh.
“How bold, Alaric,” she said. “You hand over an entire Pack to an inexperienced little girl. Are
you not afraid your Pack will collapse within a month?”
Amelia leaned back in her chair. She crossed her arms slowly, her body relaxed.

She looked at Octavia with a challenging glint in her sapphire eyes.

“Careful, Octavia,” Amelia said, her voice dangerously sweet. “High blood pressure is the silent killer for the elderly. Focus on your son’s missing finger, not my resume.”
Alaric’s lips twitched into a grim smile.
“Amelia is still better than me,” he said bluntly. “I am an old man with one foot in the grave. And she is certainly better than Adrian, who has accomplished nothing his entire life.”
Adrian’s face twisted with rage.
He glared at Amelia, his good hand clenched into a fist.
“Father, you have been manipulated!” Adrian shouted. “This evil woman has used some kind of dark magic or mind–control drug on you!”
Alaric’s face darkened. “Shut your mouth, Adrian. You are talking nonsense.”
“No!” Adrian snarled. “I know what I see. You would never willingly hand the Pack to her. She has poisoned your mind!”
He turned to the room, his voice rising.
“We must bring a witch to examine Father’s body!” Adrian declared. “We must break whatever spell she has cast on him!”
Alaric slammed his fist on the armrest of his chair. “Enough!”
But Adrian ignored him. A twisted smile spread across his face.
“Fortunately,” Adrian said slowly, “I prepared for this. Livia made sure we had backup plans. Otherwise, this Pack would be destroyed by her hands.”
He looked at his mate.
Livia understood immediately. She threw back her head and howled.
The sound was sharp and commanding.
Instantly, the doors to the Pack House burst open.
Warriors flooded into the room like a tidal wave.
Forty or fifty armed warriors packed into the spacious living room.
They wore full combat gear. Silver–tipped weapons gleamed at their belts.

These were elite soldiers borrowed from Livia’s father’s Pack, brought here specifically to handle today’s crisis.
Livia stepped forward, her voice ringing with authority.
“Restrain everyone except the Drake family members,” she commanded. “Octavia, Griffin, Carlos, and Lyra are to be left untouched. Everyone else–bind them with silver rope!”
Octavia watched the scene unfold. A cold smirk played on her lips.
*Adrian is useless in most things,* she thought. *But at least he knows how to hold onto
power.*
Alaric’s face turned red with fury. He pointed a shaking finger at his son.
“You traitor!” Alaric roared. “You are betraying your own Pack!”
Adrian didn’t flinch.
“I am saving this Pack,” Adrian said coldly. “Father, you are not in your right mind. Amelia has poisoned your thoughts. When you wake up from her spell, you will thank me for stopping you from making this terrible mistake.”
The warriors moved quickly.
They grabbed Natasha’s friends first. The young wolves yelped in surprise.
“What is happening?” one of them cried.
“Shut up!” Adrian barked. “Or I will have you gagged as well!”
Natasha’s face went pale, but she kept her voice steady.
“Do not panic,” she told her friends. “Theodore is here. The Stone family would not dare harm
us.”
Meanwhile, the Grey family elders were surrounded.
Helena Grey remained calm. She glanced at her five sons and gave a small nod.
The Grey uncles did not resist. They allowed the warriors to bind their wrists with silver rope.
Soon, everyone in the room except Amelia, Theodore, and Marcus was restrained.
Two large warriors approached Amelia.
They reached out to grab her arms.

The moment their fingers touched her sleeve, their hands turned black.
The skin swelled and blistered. Their fingers went limp.
“Aaagh!” they screamed, stumbling backward.
Amelia brushed off her sleeve lightly, as if she had touched something dirty.
She tilted her head and looked at the fallen warriors. Her tone was casual, almost playful.
“Oops. Did I forget to mention the contact neurotoxin? My bad.”
She turned to the other warriors still standing. She pulled out several small, silver–coated knives from her pocket and twirled one between her fingers.
Her smile grew sharper.
“Who’s next? I have plenty of these left, and I hate taking them home unused.”
(Amelia’s POV)
Adrian’s face paled.
He had seen what Amelia’s poisons could do. He did not want to risk losing more men.
“Stay back!” Adrian ordered the warriors.
He turned to Amelia, his voice low and threatening.
“Do not think you have won,” Adrian hissed. “If you make one wrong move, I will give the order to kill Jaxon and Seraphina. Do you want their blood on your hands?”
Amelia took a step forward.
She invaded Adrian’s personal space, her face inches from his.
Her voice dropped to a cold whisper.
“Go ahead. Make the call. But just know that the poison in Caleb’s system doesn’t just kill him–it dissolves his organs… slowly. And Ethan?”
She paused, her gaze flicking to Adrian’s eldest son.
“I know exactly where he sleeps. Do you want to gamble your entire bloodline on a bluff, Adrian?”

Adrian’s breath hitched. His face turned ashen.
Before he could respond, Livia rushed back into the room.
She was followed by a healer and another figure cloaked in a long, dark robe.

“Check him!” Livia ordered the healer, pointing at Alaric. “Check if he has been injected with any mind–control poison!”
The healer hurried to Alaric’s side. He examined the old Alpha’s eyes, his pulse, his scent.
After a long moment, the healer shook his head.
“There are no signs of poisoning,” the healer said reluctantly. “His vitals are normal. His min is clear.”
(Amelia’s POV)
Livia’s face twisted with frustration.
But she did not give up.
She turned to the cloaked figure.
“Then it must be a curse,” Livia declared. “A dark spell that leaves no physical trace!”
She gestured to the robed man.
“This is a scholar of the mystical arts,” Livia announced. “He specializes in detecting curses and breaking enchantments.”
The robed figure stepped forward slowly.
Livia had already bribed this man. No matter what he found, he was supposed to claim that Amelia had used dark magic on Alaric.
Livia shot Amelia a triumphant look.
“If he confirms you have cursed the old Alpha,” Livia said viciously, “you are finished!”
Amelia did not look worried.
Instead, she let out a soft, pitying laugh.
She shook her head slowly.

“Livia, spending all that money just to hang yourself? That’s dedication.”
The robed figure did not walk toward Alaric.
Instead, he walked directly toward Amelia.
Everyone froze.
The man stopped in front of Amelia. He reached up and pulled back his hood.
A kind, weathered face was revealed.
Warm eyes crinkled as the old man smiled at Amelia.
“Lia, my dear child,” he said gently. “It’s been a long time.”
