Chapter 235: Six Hundred Million for Your Funeral
(Author’s POV)
As Amelia’s voice faded, the atmosphere in the banquet hall underwent a subtle, almost chemical shift. The deathly silence born of shock evaporated. In its place rose a breathless tension, heavy with calculation and raw, unfiltered desire.
The representatives of the entertainment companies, who had been aggressive and dismissive just moments ago, now looked like sharks that had caught the scent of fresh blood in the water. Their eyes gleamed with naked greed and anticipation. They stared at the woman on the stage, reassessing her value with every passing second.
Amelia leaned lazily against the podium. Her fingers toyed absently with the switch of the microphone, clicking it back and forth. A cynical, playful smile curled the corners of her lips. She looked like a ringmaster admiring a circus performance she had personally directed.
Standing to the side, Arthur watched her with a deep frown etching his forehead. He didn’t feel any of the so–called “Alpha aura” from his biological daughter. To him, the woman before him was simply a manipulative brat. She understood how to twist the hearts of men and was currently playing every powerful figure in the room like a fiddle.
Whispers erupted from the onlookers, spreading like wildfire through the hall. They were frantically mocking Griffin. The realization dawned on everyone that he had completely fallen on his face.
Amelia had waited until this exact moment to reveal her identity as “Lily.” It was a calculated move designed to turn Griffin’s proclaimed “sanctions” into a ridiculous, humiliating joke.
Amelia’s gaze swept across the entire hall. Her eyes held a trace of mockery as she prepared to deliver her verdict.
“North Star Media,” she announced slowly, her voice clear and steady.
“Visionary Pictures…”
She paused, letting the anticipation build.
“And Beacon Films.”
When she spoke the name of the third company, she deliberately stopped. Her gaze cut through the crowd, locking onto Griffin. His face had turned an ugly shade of iron–grey. She looked at him with open provocation before turning her attention to the representative from Beacon Films.
“They are chosen not just because they bought the script,” she said, her voice ringing with authority. “But because they bought the future. That’s the kind of gamble I respect.”
A murmur of surprise rippled through the room.
Amelia continued, making a promise that stunned the listeners. “My next manuscript will prioritize cooperation with these three companies.”
The representatives of the other companies stood frozen, looking dazed. Some began to whisper among themselves, questioning the validity of her words. They called it a ‘pie in the sky, a promise too vague to be real.
A high–ranking executive from Gale Entertainment couldn’t contain his frustration. He stepped forward, his face flushed with anger.
“You are destroying the rules of the industry!” he shouted, pointing an accusing finger at the stage.
Amelia didn’t look to the Crimson family for support. She didn’t need to. She simply sneered, her voice amplified by the microphone as she delivered her retort.
“Breaking the rules?” she asked, her tone dripping with disdain. “Honey, I *am* the rule now.”
Her eyes flashed cold. “Either sit down or get out.”
The domineering declaration silenced the executive instantly. He opened his mouth, then closed it, looking deflated. Since Amelia had offered them an out, the other representatives wisely chose not to argue further.
The representatives of North Star, Visionary, and Beacon raised their wine glasses high in the air. They toasted Amelia from across the room, a gesture of respect between equals in the savage
world of business.
Up on the second floor, Penelope watched the scene through the one–way glass. A flicker of genuine admiration danced in her eyes. She had to admit, Amelia was a born hustler.
Theodore maneuvered his wheelchair to the top of the grand staircase. Marcus walked stoically behind him as they began their slow descent.
Griffin looked up and saw the man in the wheelchair Old hatred mixed with the fresh sting of humiliation. Bad blood boiled in his veins. He realized with a jolt that he had been played for a fool by this pair of mates. He stared at Amelia with cold, venomous eyes.
Amelia didn’t flinch. She walked naturally to the side of the wheelchair as Theodore reached the bottom. She placed one hand possessively on Theodore’s shoulder. They stood together, radiating the undeniable aura of a Power Couple.
She looked straight into Griffin’s eyes. Her tone was laced with unmasked black humor.
“You should thank me, Griffin,” she said. “I saved you six hundred million today.”
She tilted her head, her smile sharpening. “Consider it the Drake family’s severance pay.”

Griffin’s hands balled into fists at his sides.
“Or better yet,” Amelia added cruelly. “Use it for a down payment on a deluxe tombstone. You look like you’re one foot in the grave already.”
Griffin shook with rage. He was radiating murderous intent, his eyes promising violence. But he knew that speaking now would only bring more humiliation. He turned on his heel and stormed out
of the banquet hall.
Arthur passed by the couple a moment later. He paused briefly, offering a cold warning.
“Writing well doesn’t mean filming well,” he muttered, before gathering his people and retreating
from the venue.
Theodore reached up, covering the hand Amelia had placed on his shoulder. His grip was tight,
protective.
“If that old dog dares to look at my mate again, Theodore growled low in his throat, “I will bite his
throat off.”
Derek and Garrett had watched the scene from the landing. They had originally hoped to see Griffin crush Amelia. Instead, they were forced to watch her solo performance. It was boring now. They walked down the stairs together.
Skylar was standing near Amelia. As she saw Derek approaching, her face drained of all color. Her body went rigid, her muscles tensing as if preparing for a blow.
But she didn’t hide like a frightened rabbit this time. She forced her spine to straighten. She bit her lip so hard it nearly bled, but she stood her ground, refusing to retreat.
Garrett approached with a fake, plaster–like smile on his face.
“You always bring surprises, Amelia,” he mocked, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
Amelia looked at him coolly.
“Surprises?” she asked. “I prefer to call them reality checks. You look like you’ve never experienced
one.”
Garrett’s smile faltered slightly.
But Derek didn’t care about the banter. His dark face was set in stone, his expression thunderous. He stopped abruptly in front of the group.
He completely ignored Amelia’s existence. His gaze went right past her, locking onto Skylar. He stared dead at the woman who was trying desperately to maintain her composure.
“That day after the auction,” Derek demanded, his voice low and dangerous. “Was it you
