Chapter 282: Prying for Secrets
Chapter 282 Frying for Secrets
Clade’s Povi
Yes Alpha
The respectful, submissive voice drifted from the office.
It was Wade. Griffin’s Beta assistant.
My heart tightened. I quickly held my breath, masking my scent to avoid detection by their keen
senses.
I turned and moved silently toward the elevator.
The doors slid open just as I arrived, but I didn’t step in immediately.
I listened intently, calculating the timing of Wade’s footsteps down the hall.
Just as he neared the corridor’s end, I stepped into the elevator, pretending I had just arrived.
The doors slid shut, enclosing us in the small metal box.
I glanced at Wade through the reflection on the polished wall.
I knew this Beta harbored a secret crush on me. It was a weakness I intended to exploit.
I smoothed my hair back, deliberately exposing the pale curve of my neck.
“Wade,” I said, breaking the silence casually. “Griffin seemed to be in a good mood just now.”
Wade stiffened slightly, but didn’t look at me directly.
“I overheard him mention a name at the door,” I continued, my voice light. “Glenda.‘ Who is that?”
Wade’s body went rigid.
It was the instinctive alert of a Beta sensing danger, Panic flickered in his eyes as he turned to face
“Ms. York, I strongly advise against prying,” he said, his tone serious. “Eavesdropping on Alpha Griffin is dangerous. It challenges his authority. For your own safety, please forget that name.”
I immediately let my eyes fill with tears.
My haughty exterior crumbled into pitiful vulnerability.
I bit my lower lip and released a very faint trace of pheromones laced with sadness.
“I was just… I was just worried about Griffin,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “You know how he

treats me. Is this ‘Glenda‘ a now she wolf he’s interested in?”
I looked up at him with wide, wet eyes.
“Is she a bed warmer sent by another Pack? He’s been so cold to me lately. If there is someone else.
Seeing my usual arrogance replaced by such fragility, Wade’s defenses crumbled.
He sighed, looking torn.
“No, she is definitely not a lover,” he lowered his voice to a hush. “She is a… very dangerous woman. She is connected to the underground black market
The elevator dinged, signaling our arrival at the ground floor.
Wade didn’t dare say more.
“Just know that the less you know, the better. It is not a relationship issue.”
He stepped out quickly, fleeing the awkward intimacy of the elevator.
As the doors closed behind his retreating figure, the grief vanished from my face.
A cold sneer replaced it.
If she wasn’t a love rival, then this Glenda had specific utility to Griffin.

The turmoil at the sanitarium had settled for the moment.
Theodore drove Amelia back to the Starlight Entertainment building personally.
Inside the car, the atmosphere was quiet but charged.
Amelia unbuckled her seatbelt and turned to the man beside her. Even in a wheelchair, Theodore
radiated the overwhelming power of a dominant Alpha.
“Theodore,” she said, her voice solemn. “Regarding your brother, I will activate my entire intelligence network to investigate. I hope to find him before our Mating Ceremony.”
Theodore’s eyes softened as he looked at her.
He reached out, his fingers gently tracing the back of her hand. The touch brought a sense of
peace to the wolf inside him.
“No,” he said, his voice deep and resonant. “We don’t need to wait that long. I want to find him before your birthday banquet. I want him to stand there as family.”

Amelia smiled and nodded before exiting the vehicle.
Theodore watched her figure disappear through the revolving doors.
The moment she was gone, the warmth evaporated from his face.

His expression turned icy, the ruthless mask of the Northern Wolf King returning.
“Marcus,” he commanded coldly to the Beta in the passenger seat. “Issue the notification. Initiate a search warrant at the highest level.”
Marcus straightened immediately.
“Mobilize “The Seasons‘ elite guard. Use ‘The Hag‘–that notorious trafficker–as the primary lead.”
Theodore’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
“Track the scent. I don’t care what methods you use. Within two weeks, I want the lost heir of the Crimson family standing in front of me.”
Deep within his chest, his wolf, Logan, let out a low, vibrating roar. It was the call of a predator seeking its kin.
(Author’s POV)
Amelia had just sat down in her office when her encrypted phone rang.
It was Silas Grey.
“Shadow King, the results are in, Silas’s voice was calm and efficient. “The ‘big shot‘ backing the actress Zoey is not simple. Years ago, to promote someone else, he deliberately blacklisted
Wayne.”
Amelia listened intently.
“He manufactured the ‘cheating assistant‘ scandal,” Silas continued. “The data shows Wayne was forced to sever ties. The blackmail material was entirely fabricated. And this big shot likely has blood on his hands.”
Amelia watched the fax machine spit out the detailed report.
A cold smile played on her lips.
If the opponent had such a dirty background, the fight would be even more satisfying.
She picked up her phone and dialed Director Liam.
“Liam, the male lead is decided,” she said decisively “We are officially activating Wayne. Yes, I want
him to use this show to rise from the ashes of his enemy’s destruction.”

She hung up and leaned back in her chair.
Her fingers tapped a rhythmic beat on the desk.
She was waiting for a good show. She was waiting for the foolish Chairman of Gale Entertainment to jump into the pit she had dug.
She wanted him to choose Yves, the apple that looked shiny on the outside but was rotten to the
core.
At the same time, Alpha Arthur York was sweating in his office.
He held the phone to his ear, his hand trembling slightly.
Facing the pressure of a top–tier Alpha like Griffin, even over the phone, made his instincts scream
in fear.
“Arthur, I hear you are casting the male lead?” Griffin’s voice dripped with unquestionable authority.
“You are hesitating between Yves and Jasper? And hear Jade prefers Jasper?”
Arthur wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
“Yes, Alpha Griffin. Jade feels Jasper has more potential…”
“Hmph,” Griffin sneered. “I don’t care what Jade thinks. I will only remind you of one thing. Do your background checks.”
Griffin’s voice dropped lower.
“Jasper is the one the Stone family is fully supporting. Are you sure you want to offend me for the
sake of a rookie?”
The line went dead.
Arthur hadn’t even caught his breath when his illegitimate son, Hugh York, barged in.
Hugh slammed a thick stack of documents onto the desk.
“Father, look! I told you Jade’s judgment is flawed,” Hugh said, his voice dripping with disdain. “We absolutely cannot choose that Jasper.”
He pointed accusingly at the papers.
“I checked him out. The kid has dirty blood in his veins. In high school, he was sent to juvenile detention for bullying classmates. That is typical Rogue behavior. Savage and uneducated.”
Hugh sneered.
“Since his debut, he has had no discipline. He actually hit a director. The Stone family paid to suppress it, but everyone knows he is a ticking time bomb.”

Hugh’s expression shifted to one of ingratiating €
“But this Yves is different,” he said, tapping the pl dedicated and cooperative. Most importantly, his choosing Yves is the safest decision.”
