Arthur sat behind his massive mahogany desk, flipping through the stack of actor profiles. His

expression was severe.

The warning from Griffin Drake still echoed in his mind. His daughter, Jade, had foolishly

recommended that boy, Jasper, to the Drake heir. That move had clearly annoyed Griffin

Arthur snapped the folder shut with a sharp thud.

He looked up at his illegitimate son, Hugh, who stood eagerly by the desk.

Hugh’s eyes lit up with triumph.

“Understood, Father,” Hugh said, unable to suppress the smug grin spreading across his face.

He turned and strode out of the office, his steps light with victory.

The first thing he did was call Director Bruno.

“Drop Jasper,” Hugh ordered into the phone, his tone leaving no room for negotiation. “We are going with Yves.”

On the other end of the line, Director Bruno frowned.

To his professional eye, Yves’s acting was stiff and mechanical. He lacked soul. Jasper, however, possessed a raw, primitive talent that was rare in the industry.

But Bruno hesitated. He remembered the rumors about Jasper. The boy had a record of violence. He had once lost control and injured someone to protect a pack mate.

“Alright,” Bruno sighed, compromising for the sake of a peaceful production. “We will use Yves.” Hugh hung up the phone and immediately dialed the marketing manager.

“Launch a full campaign,” he ordered viciously. “I want you to use this announcement to suppress Starlight Entertainment’s new show completely.”

Hugh walked down the corridor, feeling a surge of power.

The sky outside had turned a bruised purple as evening set in.

In a dilapidated apartment on the edge of the city, the air was thick with the smell of cheap disinfectant and bitter herbs.

Jasper dipped a towel into a basin of warm water. He wrung it out carefully and began to wipe the face of the middle–aged man lying on the narrow bed.

This was Mitch, the Rogue wolf who had raised him, Mitch lay unconscious, his breathing shallow and labored.

The silence of the room was broken by the buzzing of the phone in Jasper’s pocket.

He pulled it out. The screen displayed the name “Lisa.”

“Hello, Lisa?” Jasper answered, a flicker of hope in his voice.

“Bad news, Jasper,” his manager’s voice came through, heavy and resigned. “The audition failed.”

Jasper’s hand tightened around the phone until his knuckles turned white.

He looked at the IV drip beside the bed. The fluid was running low, and the cost of the medicine was exorbitant. He needed this job to keep Mitch alive.

“Lisa, can you try again?” he whispered, his voice hoarse with suppressed desperation. “Please. I will take any role. Even a background character. Just get me on set.”

“Jasper, don’t be naive,” Lisa sighed on the other end. “Alpha Arthur personally rejected you. He

doesn’t want you.”

She paused, her tone shifting to pity.

“Take my advice. Quit. You have no future in this industry. You offended too many people with your

temper in the past.”

Despair washed over him like icy water, threatening to drown him.

He looked at Mitch’s pale, lifeless face. He couldn’t give up. Not now.

Lisa thought he was crazy. Going to the theat company immediately after being rejected by Gale

was taky and desperate.

Perhaps she would hire him just to disqust Arthur York.

“Fine,” Lisa said finally. “I’ll send it to you.”

A moment later, a number appeared on his screen

Jasper took a deep breath to steady his shaking hands. He dialed the number.

“Hello? This is Liam,” a calm, professional voice answered.

“Director Liam, this is Jasper,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady. “I want to audition for the

villain role in *Treatment Diary*.”

Liam paused on the other end.

“I heard you just auditioned for Gale Entertainment, Liam said bluntly.

“Yes,” Jasper admitted, his throat dry. “I was rejected.”

He didn’t make excuses. He didn’t try to hide his failure.

Liam was silent for a while.

“I admire your talent, Jasper,” Liam said slowly. “You have a wildness that cannot be taught. But I worry that Amelia might not want to accept an actor who was eliminated by our competitor. She might suspect your loyalty.”

Jasper’s heart sank, but he didn’t hang up.

“However,” Liam continued, his voice softening with appreciation for talent. “I hate to see potential wasted. Come to the studio near the Pack House tomorrow at ten. If you can move me, I will try to speak to Amelia for you.”

“Thank you,” Jasper breathed out, relieved. “Thank you, Director.”

He hung up the phone.

Outside the window, the city lights were beginning to flicker on, but his room remained in shadow.

Jasper turned back to the unconscious man. He swore to himself that no matter the cost, he would earn enough money to save him.

It was evening, and the office building was growing qulet.

I signed the last document on my desk and closed the file.

I was just about to pack my laptop into my bag when my private phone vibrated against the wood.

The screen flashed. It was Jade.

I picked it up immediately, sensing urgency.

“Jade, what’s the news?” I asked, sliding my computer into my bag.

“Amelia, I’m not sure if this is useful, but I felt I should tell you,” Jade’s voice came through low and

hurried.

I could hear the faint sound of wind in the background. She was likely hiding in a secluded corner

of the Gale Pack grounds.

“At noon, I overheard Griffin on the phone,” Jade whispered. “He was extremely agitated. He sounded… excited. Like he had found a weapon.”

I stopped what I was doing, my hand hovering over my bag.

“In the conversation, he kept repeating one name,” Jade continued. “Glenda.”

My fingers froze in mid–air.

“Glenda.”

I repeated the name softly.

A strange familiarity washed over me. It wasn’t a warm feeling. It was cold, like a draft from a dark

cellar.

It felt like a shadow rising from the depths of a buried memory.

That name was connected to something dark. Something dirty. It reeked of the underground black market and illicit trades.
