Griffin sat in the opulent private booth, the golden fork in his hand bending under the force of his grip. His face was a mask of suppressed fury. Across from him sat a man whose identity was a closely guarded secret in the capital, dining with elegant precision.
Griffin had just ended the call with Arthur York. The realization that he had been played by Amelia Stone was a bitter pill to swallow. That woman was far more cunning than he had anticipated.
She had used Glenda, a discardable pawn, to execute a perfect maneuver. Not only had she eliminated Hugh York, a nuisance, but she had also forced Griffin’s hand. He had been compelled to pressure Arthur York personally.
Although Arthur had sounded submissive on the phone, Griffin knew better. No Alpha accepted the murder
of his heir without breeding resentment. Arthur would hate the Drakes for this suppression, even if he
dared not show it.
Amelia had successfully sown discord between the Drake family and their loyal dogs.
“Vicious bitch,” Griffin thought, his knuckles turning white.
The man across the table placed his wine glass down with a soft clink. He wiped the corners of his mouth
with a linen napkin, his movements slow and deliberate.
“Griffin,” the man said, his voice flat but carrying a crushing weight. “The ‘Secret Garden‘ is a game for
those at the very peak of the pyramid.”
His eyes bore into Griffin’s, cold and assessing.
“You cannot just let any unqualified prey through the gates.”
Griffin felt a chill run down his spine. He immediately reined in his anger, bowing his head slightly.
“Of course, sir,” Griffin said respectfully. “I personally screen every participant. There will be no mistakes.”
The man took a sip of red wine, swirling the crimson liquid in the glass.
“I hear that the Stone girl is making waves,” he remarked casually. “She has even brought Wayne back for
Starlight Entertainment’s new project.”
Griffin’s expression tightened.
“It is a minor oversight,” Griffin assured him quickly. “I will not let her interfere with your entertainment.”
The man nodded, seemingly satisfied. He stood up, smoothing his suit jacket. As he walked past Griffin, he paused and patted the younger man on the shoulder.

“Remember, Griffin,” he said, his tone sounding like a benevolent elder yet filled with threat. “If the Drake family wants to go completely legitimate and stand firm in both the human and werewolf worlds, you still need my support.”
“I understand,” Griffin replied, not daring to move until the man had left the room.
Once the door clicked shut, Griffin’s composure shattered. He grabbed his wine glass and downed the contents in one gulp.
“Did you find out who is backing her?” Griffin demanded, slamming the glass onto the table.
His assistant stepped out from the shadows, looking terrified.
“I… I apologize, Mr. Drake,” the assistant stammered. “We found nothing. Her tracks are completely
covered.”
Griffin’s eyes narrowed.
“It must be Theodore,” he hissed. “Only the Crimson family has the power to hide things this well.”
A cruel sneer curled his lips.
“Amelia is having a birthday banquet soon, isn’t she?”
“Yes, sir,” the assistant nodded.
“Good,” Griffin said coldly. “Contact the team holding Livia Stone.”
He picked up the empty wine glass, his grip tightening until the crystal groaned.
“Arrange for an ‘accidental‘ escape,” he ordered. “Let Livia run right into that banquet.”
The glass shattered in his hand, shards slicing into his palm. Blood mixed with the dregs of the red wine, dripping onto the white tablecloth.
“I want to see if Amelia can survive her own mother,” Griffin whispered.
(Amelia’s POV)
I returned to the Starlight Entertainment office immediately after finishing Theodore’s treatment session. The city lights blurred past the window, but my mind was focused on the next step.
I pulled out my phone and dialed Silas.
“Do you have everything?” I asked the moment the call connected.
“Yes, Boss,” Silas’s efficient voice replied. “I have the dashcam footage from Glenda’s car and the videos taken by the bystanders.”
“Good,” I said, leaning back in my chair. “Release them tomorrow. Make sure the timing is right.”
“Understood.”
I hung up and opened my laptop, logging into PackNet. The forum was already exploding with discussions

about the crash near the Treatment Center.

I clicked on the top thread. The photos of the scene were gruesome, though the moderators had pixelated the worst of Hugh York’s remains.
“Looks like his Alpha skull wasn’t that hard after all,” I muttered with a cold smile.
I scrolled down to the comments section.
“This is definitely the Moon Goddess’s punishment!” one user wrote.
“He just killed that family of three this morning, and now he is dead? Karma is real.”
“Good riddance. He thought he was untouchable.”
While a few users speculated about revenge, the overwhelming sentiment was satisfaction. The werewolf
community believed in retribution. Hugh had mocked the fragility of the “pups” he killed. Now, he was just
roadkill himself.
I closed the browser, feeling a sense of justice settle in my chest.
*May their souls return to the Moon Goddess’s embrace,* Ava sighed in my mind, her tone heavy but
satisfied.
A notification popped up on my screen. It was an encrypted file from Silas.
“Surveillance footage from the Gale Pack Alpha House,” the message read.
I opened the file. The video showed the grand living room of the York mansion.
Tanya York was there, disheveled and hysterical. Against Arthur’s orders, she had brought Hugh’s body
back to the house. She was weeping over the body bag, her hands trembling as she touched the covered
face.
A butler approached her, whispering urgently.
“Madam,” the butler said, his voice caught by the microphone. “We checked Glenda’s background. She…
she works for Griffin Drake.”
Tanya froze. Her tear–streaked face went pale as the realization hit her.
“Griffin?” she whispered.
Then her expression twisted.
“No wonder Arthur stopped the investigation,” she said, her voice shaking with rage. “He is afraid of the
Drakes.”
