Chapter 342: Playing the Pawn
Chapter 342: Playing the Pawn
(Amelia’s POV)
Ethan stood frozen like a statue before me.
I felt nothing as I watched him struggle to process my words.

I reached into my handbag and pulled out four gold–embossed invitations. I held them out to him with an
expression of complete indifference.
“Not just you,” I said flatly. “Caleb, Father Adrian, and Aunt Lyra are all welcome to attend tomorrow’s
birthday banquet.”
Ethan stared at the invitations as if they might disappear.
I knew exactly what Adrian was planning. He wanted to use this event to create chaos with the Drake
family’s backing. So why not open the door wide and build the stage for them myself?
When Ethan didn’t immediately reach for the invitations, I raised an eyebrow.
“Don’t want them?” I asked.
That snapped him out of his daze. He lunged forward and grabbed the invitations, clutching them to his
chest like priceless treasures.
In my mind, Ava snorted with contempt. “This wolf who once strutted around so proudly now looks like a
pathetic stray begging for scraps.”
I ignored Ethan’s overwhelmed expression and turned back toward my office.
His stammered thanks followed me down the hall, but I didn’t look back.
(Author’s POV)
After leaving Starlight Entertainment, Ethan couldn’t calm his racing heart.
He gripped the steering wheel tightly, feeling like all the suffering he’d endured in Meadow Brook Pack
territory had been worth it. Everything seemed to be moving in the right direction.
He dismissed the thought of returning to his shabby apartment. Instead, he drove straight to Caleb’s
current residence, eager to distribute the remaining invitations to his family. He was certain Caleb would
be just as thrilled as he was.
After delivering the invitations, he would head to the shopping district downtown to carefully select a birthday gift for his sister.
Meanwhile, Amelia arrived with Silas at one of the organization’s safe houses in Northgate City,

The Victorian–era mansion sat in the old district, its location carefully hidden from prying eyes.
Silas led Amelia through dim corridors until they reached a sealed room.
Inside, Livia was bound to a chair with heavy silver chains. Even though they knew she’d been injected
with suppressants, they couldn’t risk her wolf suddenly awakening and allowing her to escape.
(Amelia’s POV)
Livia looked absolutely wretched.
The woman who had always been impeccably groomed was now skeletal, her hair a tangled mess like dried grass. She looked like a rogue who’d been wandering the wilderness for months.
The moment she saw me enter, she began thrashing violently. The silver chains clanged with ear–splitting noise as she screamed hoarsely that I had kidnapped her, just as she’d suspected.
I pulled over a chair and sat down gracefully.
In my consciousness, Ava observed coldly. “She looks like she’s already gone mad.”
I gave Livia a mocking smile. “Why are you so certain it was me?”
Livia shrieked with rage. She claimed she’d been captured right after leaving Meadow Brook, and no one else would do such a thing. Now that she’d finally escaped, only to be caught again, she was laying the
blame squarely at my feet.
I let out a cold laugh at her accusations.
“Karma,” I said simply, letting the word hang in the air. “You’ve been used as a fool by your own mate.”
Livia’s body went rigid. Then she screamed in denial, insisting she would never believe Adrian would harm
her.
I leaned forward, my voice cutting through her protests like a blade.
“The one who kidnapped you was Adrian himself.”
Livia’s face turned deathly pale. Her lips trembled as she continued trying to defend her mate, accusing
me of lying.
I gave her a cold reminder. “You once defended Celine just as blindly. And we both know how that turned
out.”
