Chapter 35: Theodore Suspects His Father
Chapter 35: Theodore Suspects His Father
(Theodore’s POV)
Theron was surprised, his eyes full of suspicion. “Are you sure?”

Isla also feigned surprise. “I heard that the Alpha’s true daughter grew up among rogue wolves. She can’t compare to Celine in any aspect. Even though your legs are crippled and you’re not what you used to be, you don’t have to settle for such a woman.”
She repeatedly emphasized the fact that my legs were crippled, deliberately trying to provoke me. I looked at Isla thoughtfully and said, “From what you’re saying, it sounds like you’re looking down on both the Stone family’s true daughter and me.”
Isla quickly put on a hurt expression. “I didn’t mean that at all. It’s just that since your legs were crippled, you’ve become more sensitive.”
“Isla, don’t interrupt when I’m talking with Theodore,” Alpha Theron scolded, his voice stern but his eyes gentle. It was obvious he was merely putting on a show of discipline while actually protecting her.
He turned back to me, his expression growing serious. “Are you absolutely certain about this decision? You truly wish to marry Amelia Stone?”
I met his gaze steadily. “Since Celine isn’t the Alpha’s daughter, I naturally won’t marry her. I’ll marry the true Alpha’s daughter instead.“.
Theron exchanged a quick glance with Ronan, a barely perceptible smile flickering in his eyes. “Very well. We’ll attend the welcome feast tomorrow night.”
I noticed Ronan’s eyes also held a hidden gleam of satisfaction. Something was definitely off about their reaction.
“There’s another matter we need to discuss,” Theron said, his tone hardening. “I heard that yesterday, you had Beta Marcus discipline Isla. Why would you do such a thing?”
“What’s inappropriate about teaching Isla some manners?” I replied directly.
Theron’s face darkened with displeasure. “She may have spoken out of turn, but she’s still a lady of the Crimson family. You shouldn’t have had Marcus punish her so severely.”
“Father, let’s be clear about something,” I said coolly. “Isla is merely the adopted daughter Ronan claimed. She’s not your biological daughter.”

“That doesn’t matter,” Theron insisted, his voice rising. “She may not be my biological daughter, but she’s indebted to Ronan. They grew up together, and she’s called him father for years. I consider her my own daughter.”
He pointed a finger at me. “You will apologize to Isla. And as for Marcus–a Beta daring to strike an Alpha’s daughter breaks pack hierarchy. Perhaps he shouldn’t be your Beta anymore.”
Isla’s expression turned triumphant. She stepped forward, chin raised. “I want a sincere apology, brother.”
I looked at her calmly. “My legs were crippled because I saved your life. Yet you repeatedly say things to hurt me. If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll never understand your mistakes.”
“You’ve become too sensitive,” Theron said impatiently. “Besides having doctors treat your legs, perhaps you need a mind healer as well.”
I could see my father was determined to force an apology from me. Fine. I’d give him exactly what he wanted–just not how he expected.
“Isla, come here,” I called.
She approached with a smug smile, clearly expecting my submission. When she was close enough, I suddenly called out, “Marcus.”
Before anyone could react, Marcus grabbed Isla’s wrist and delivered a sharp slap across her
face.
“That,” I explained calmly, “is for being an adopted daughter who dares report to the Alpha against me.”
Marcus delivered another slap to her other cheek.
“And that is for mocking my crippled legs in front of my father.”
Isla burst into tears, her cheeks bright red. “You’re horrible!” she sobbed, turning to Theron. “Father, look how he treats me!”
Theron rose to his feet, fury etched across his face as he helped Isla up. “Theodore! Since your legs were crippled, your temper has grown increasingly uncontrollable. You won’t even listen to me anymore!”
I remained unmoved. “Father, let me remind you of something. Your authority in this pack exists only because I fought for it with Grandfather. Without me, you were nothing in this

My blunt words stripped away any pretense of respect, and Theron’s face darkened with rage.
“Is it because my legs are crippled that you think I’m useless now?” I continued coldly. “Do you think Ronan can simply take over everything I’ve built?”
“Theo, you’ve misunderstood father,” Ronan quickly interjected, trying to defuse the situation.
I laughed coldly. “Let me warn you both–as long as I’m alive, I can destroy everything you
have in an instant.”
I signaled Marcus to wheel me out. “I’m going to play chess with Grandfather. By the way, Ronan, it’s interesting that you’ve been back for three years and haven’t played chess with
him even once.”
After leaving the hall, I stared coldly into the night sky. “Marcus, find someone to investigate my father discreetly. I want to know the true relationship between him and Isla.”
Marcus looked shocked. “Alpha…”
“Just do it,” I ordered.
As we moved through the quiet corridors, my mind raced with suspicions. Why would Ronan, my own brother, be so cruel as to attempt to assassinate me for the heir position? And why was my father so unusually devoted to Isla, a girl who’d only been in our pack for three years?
Something wasn’t right, and I intended to find out what it was.
