Isla cupped her swollen face, tears streaming down her cheeks as she glared at Theron. “Father, did you see how Theodore treated me? He doesn’t even respect you anymore! He’s still so arrogant despite being crippled!”
Theron’s expression remained calm as he handed her a cold compress. “Theodore has always been headstrong. His disability hasn’t changed that.”
“But he humiliated me in front of everyone!” Isla protested.
Theron sighed deeply. “The real issue is that Patriarch Gideon still favors Theodore above all others. That’s where his confidence comes from.”
“What do you mean?” Ronan asked, his eyes narrowing.
“Your grandfather has always been obsessed with chess. If he invites someone to play with him, it shows his approval and respect.” Theron’s voice hardened. “Ronan, you’ve been back for three years, and he hasn’t invited you to play even once. Yet Theodore still plays with him regularly.”
Ronan’s face darkened with jealousy. “That doesn’t mean anything.”
“It means everything in our family,” Theron replied sharply.
Ronan’s eyes flashed with determination. “Grandpa will acknowledge my abilities someday. I will definitely make him acknowledge me.”
He paced the room, his movements agitated. “Besides, he hasn’t officially announced Theodore as heir yet. That means he’s wavering, especially since Theodore’s injury. He’s just hoping Theodore’s legs can be healed.”
Isla’s eyes widened with alarm. “What if they can be healed? What then?”
A dangerous glint appeared in Theron’s eyes. “They won’t be. Every doctor who examines Theodore is under my control. Even if there’s a cure, he’ll never receive it.”
He gently stroked Isla’s bruised cheek. “I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you today. I failed you.”
Isla saw her opportunity and seized it. “It’s not your fault. Theodore has become so disrespectful. Did you hear what he said? That your authority only exists because of him?

Theron’s fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. His face contorted with rage.
“He’s just like his mother,” he spat venomously. “She looked down on me as her mate, and now he looks down on me as his father.”
His eyes darkened with malice. “I eliminated her when she became a problem. I can do the same to her son.” He turned to Ronan with a serious expression. “Have you investigated Amelia Stone thoroughly?”
Ronan nodded confidently. “Yes, Father. She was indeed brought back from a remote, insignificant pack. The Stone family doesn’t even want her. She’s so unwelcome that she’s been registered under Jaxon’s name instead of Adrian’s.”
Theron relaxed visibly. “Good. As long as she’s a nobody, this works in our favor. If Theodore marries her, his position in the family will weaken. We can use that to strengthen our own
standing.”
Isla snorted derisively. “The Stone family clearly doesn’t want Celine to marry Theodore anymore. They’re just offering up some random girl to fulfill their obligation.”
A malicious smile spread across her face. “Ronan, why don’t you marry Celine instead? Theodore would be furious, and he’d become the laughingstock of Northgate City.”
Ronan considered this suggestion with growing interest. “If I married Celine, it would crush Theodore’s pride completely.”
His mind raced with possibilities. Winning Celine’s heart would not only humiliate Theodore but also elevate his own status within the family. It was a perfect plan.
Meanwhile, in Patriarch Gideon’s private study, Theodore placed a black chess piece on the board with precision.
“Has your father told you about the situation with the Stone family?” Gideon asked, studying the board intently.
Theodore nodded. “Yes. The alliance will continue, but I’ll be marrying Amelia Stone instead.”
Gideon raised an eyebrow. “You’re in a precarious position, Theodore. Many are eyeing your place as heir since your injury. Are you sure it’s wise to marry a girl with no status or power?”
Theodore met his grandfather’s gaze unflinchingly. “Who else but me can keep the Crimson Moon Pack strong and the Northern Territories secure?”
A hint of a smile touched Gideon’s lips. “You certainly don’t lack confidence in yourself.”

“And I have confidence in my choice of mate as well,” Theodore replied smoothly.
“Have you met this true daughter of the Stone family?” Gideon asked curiously.
“I have,” Theodore confirmed. “And I knew immediately she was the one.”
“Interesting,” Gideon mused. “When we arranged your match with Celine, you showed no particular interest. Yet you seem quite enthusiastic about this new girl.”
Theodore smiled slightly. “Nearly dying changes one’s perspective. Some things in life should
follow the heart’s desire.”
Gideon studied his grandson thoughtfully. “I think I’ll attend tomorrow’s welcoming feast. I want to see what makes this Stone girl so special that you chose her at first sight.”
Theodore’s smile widened as he thought of Amelia’s fierce, untamed spirit. “You’ll be very pleased with my future Luna, Grandfather. I guarantee it.”
Gideon observed the rare spark of genuine happiness in his grandson’s eyes. Theodore had always been polite and composed, but few people ever truly reached his heart. His arranged marriage to Celine had been treated as a mere duty, but now Gideon could see real anticipation for the future in Theodore’s expression.
This Amelia Stone must be truly remarkable.
Later that evening, Theodore wheeled himself to his bed after a long shower. He reached for his phone to message Amelia, only to find she had already texted him.
“Don’t forget to take your moonlight herb medicine tonight,” her message read.
His lips curved into a smile as he typed his reply: “Of course. Perhaps if you reminded me every day, I’d never forget.”
Across the city, Amelia sat at her computer desk. After sending Theodore his reminder, she logged into her secret account as the author Lily. She needed to handle the sale of rights to her final healing chronicle.
Her inbox was flooded with messages–fan mail and friend requests from entertainment companies. She immediately rejected the request from Starlight Entertainment without a second thought.
A message from the website editor caught her attention: “Many companies are interested in purchasing the rights to your final healing chronicle. Have you decided which company you’ll sell to?”
