“I’ll taste it first. If I really start seeing strange things, remember to feed me this antidote.”

Amelia fished a small bottle out of her portable medical kit.

I held it carefully to her lips.

“Amelia, open your mouth.”

“No,” she grumbled.

I sighed, then had an idea. I softened my voice to a coaxing tone.

“Be a good girl,” I whispered. “This is magic candy from the forest elf.”

“If you eat it, you will become as cute as them.”

Amelia turned back to me. Her blue eyes lit up instantly.

“Really?” she asked.

“Really,” I promised.

She opened her mouth immediately and swallowed the capsule obediently.
