Chapter 374: The Alpha’s Betrayal
(Author’s POV)
Ethan rushed toward the apartment door, his breath coming in ragged gasps. He had driven like a madman to get here.
Just as he reached the foyer, a scream tore through the wood.
It was his father, Adrian.
“You useless waste! How could you fail!” Adrian roared. The sound was like a dying beast, raw and terrifying. It slammed against Ethan’s eardrums.

“You are the professional killer Griffin Drake hired! You claimed a 100% success rate! You couldn’t even
handle one woman! You are absolute trash!”
Ethan froze in the shadows of the hallway. His feet felt like they were nailed to the floor.
A cold hand seemed to squeeze his heart. A poisonous dread crawled up his spine like a viper.
He knew his father was desperate, but this? Hiring a killer?
Amelia stood near the doorway. She heard the noise of his arrival and turned her head.
Her sapphire eyes landed on him. They were cold, devoid of any sympathy or warmth. A mocking smile
curled the corners of her lips.
“Oh, Ethan, you’re here,” she said. Her voice dripped with irony. “Looks like our ‘happy family‘ is finally
reunited.”
She shifted her position. She pushed Theodore’s wheelchair slightly to the side.
“Come in,” she said, gesturing to the open path. “Don’t miss the show.”
Ethan took a deep, shuddering breath. He tried to suppress the sharp pain rising in his chest.
He stumbled forward, moving like a man in a nightmare. He crossed the threshold into the blinding light of
the living room.
(Amelia’s POV)
The crystal chandelier cast a harsh, freezing light over the room. The atmosphere was suffocating. It felt
as if the air itself had turned to solid ice.
Grandfather Alaric stood in the center. He leaned heavily on his ebony cane. His face was the color of iron. His chest heaved with suppressed rage.
He pointed a trembling finger at Adrian.

“You have violated the will of the Moon Goddess!” Alaric shouted. “This is an unforgivable atrocity! You
have disgraced us all!”
In the corner, Silas stood like a statue. His hand was a steel clamp on the blonde mercenary’s shoulder.
The killer was battered and bruised. He couldn’t move under Silas’s absolute power.
Adrian looked like a trapped animal. His clothes were disheveled. He paced back and forth in the center
of the room.
He didn’t look sorry. He looked insane.
“It’s your fault!” Adrian screamed at Alaric. “You pushed me too far! You gave me no choice!”
He spun around and saw Ethan entering the room. Adrian’s eyes bulged. He pointed an accusing finger at
his eldest son.
“Look at you!” Adrian spat. “Both of you! Wagging your tails at her like obedient puppies!”
He glared at Caleb, then back at Ethan.
“You shame the Alpha bloodline!” Adrian yelled. “Begging her for scraps just to get back into the Stone
River Pack!”
Caleb stepped forward. His face was wet with tears.
“Why?” Caleb asked. His voice broke. “Why did you hire someone to kill Mom?”
Adrian stopped pacing. He looked at his sons with a twisted expression.
“For you!” Adrian exploded. “I did it for your future!”
Livia rushed out from the bedroom. Her eyes were red and swollen.
“My future?” she choked out. “You tried to kill me for their future?”
Adrian sneered at her. There was no love in his eyes. Only contempt.
“You are a burden, Livia,” he said coldly. “Your family is useless to me now. You can’t help me.”
He laughed, a sound that bordered on madness.
“Since you can’t do anything, you should be useful one last time,” Adrian hissed. “You were the sacrificial
lamb.”
The room went silent.
“The plan was simple,” Adrian continued, his voice rising. “You die. We frame Amelia for matricide. She rots in prison forever.”
He looked at Ethan and Caleb with a sick desperation.
“Then you two return to the pack,” he said. “You take back the inheritance. It was a desperate gamble! It
was worth the cost!”

I felt Ava stir within me. The silver wolf paced aggressively.

*This male is a disgrace to the wolf race,* Ava growled in my mind. *To kill his mate for power… his soul is
already rotten.*
The absurdity of his words hung in the air. It was sickening.
Caleb looked like he was going to faint. The world seemed to spin around him.
Ethan stood in the shadows near the door. He was shaking violently. He couldn’t even look at his mother.
Livia stared at her mate. Her expression was one of total horror.
She stumbled forward. She gathered every ounce of strength she had left.
*Smack!*
The sound of the slap echoed through the silent room.
Livia had put all her hatred into that blow. It was the sound of a thirty–year bond shattering.
She let out a low, creepy laugh. Then she started to scream.
“I served this pack for thirty years!” she shrieked. “I bore your children! I gave you everything!”
She pointed a shaking hand at his face.
“And to you, I am just a tool?” she cried. “A disposable object?”
She was trembling with rage. Tears streamed down her face.
“You are a soulless demon, Adrian Stone!” she screamed. “I was blind! I wasted my life on a monster!”
I watched them coldly. The coldness in my heart deepened.
I could feel the energy in the room shifting. It wasn’t just heartbreak. It was the spiritual collapse of a
mating bond. The tearing sensation was palpable. It was suffocating to witness.
(Theodore’s POV)
“Enough!”
The voice was old but commanded instant obedience.
