Chapter 375: The Shadow King Revealed
Chapter 375: The Shadow King Revealed
(Author’s POV)
Alaric looked down at Adrian. The Alpha of the Stone River Pack was groveling on the floor. He looked like a beaten cur, begging for mercy to save his own skin.
Disgust filled Alaric’s eyes. The old Alpha pulled his leg back and delivered a vicious kick to Adrian’s chest.
*Thud.*
The impact of an Alpha’s strength sent Adrian rolling across the floor. He gasped, clutching his ribs.
“You fool!” Alaric roared. The sound vibrated through the large hall.
“Is that the point?” Alaric demanded, his voice shaking with rage. “The point is that you conspired with
Griffin Drake! You targeted your own mate!”
Alaric stepped forward, his cane tapping ominously on the tile.
“It doesn’t matter who hired the killer! What matters is your soul,” Alaric spat. “You are a disgrace to the
pack. You sacrificed your mate for power. You are an abomination!”
Inside Amelia’s mind, Ava let out a cold snort.
*This he–wolf is unworthy of the spirit,* Ava growled, her sapphire eyes filled with contempt. *He betrayed
the sacred Mate Bond for power. The Moon Goddess will spit on his rotten soul.*
Livia closed her eyes. Tears of absolute despair rolled down her cheeks. They splashed silently onto the
cold floor.
She finally saw the truth.
Adrian’s excuse of doing it “for the sons” was a lie. It was a pathetic shield for his own greed.
He only wanted to feed his insatiable hunger for authority. In his game of chess, she was just a pawn to be
discarded.
Livia felt her heart turn to ash.
*Snap.*
The bond between them shattered. It was a physical blow that left her gasping for air.
Amelia watched the scene with cold detachment. She turned to the Pack Enforcers waiting by the door.
“Take him,” Amelia ordered, her voice devoid of emotion. “Lock him in the dungeon. Maximum security.”
The Enforcers moved forward instantly. They grabbed Adrian by his arms.
“Hand him over to the human police and the Werewolf Council at dawn,” Amelia added.

Adrian screamed as he was dragged away.
“Father! Amelia! Have mercy!”
His pleas faded into the distance. The apartment fell into a deathly silence.
Alaric seemed to shrink. All vitality left his body in seconds.
He looked ten years older. His proud, straight back hunched over under the weight of his son’s sins.
He looked at Amelia with weary eyes.
“I am tired,” Alaric whispered. “My heart is worn out.”
He sighed, a sound of deep exhaustion.
“It is time for me to rest. Tomorrow, I will return to the Meadow Brook Pack territory with Jaxon and
Seraphina.”
The old man reached out. His wrinkled hand landed heavily on Amelia’s shoulder.
“The Stone River Pack is yours,” he said solemnly. “I formally hand over the Alpha Leadership to you.”
There was no sadness in his tone. Only the relief of laying down a heavy burden.
Alaric turned away. He leaned heavily on his ebony cane.
His figure looked lonely as he walked toward the door.
Seraphina sighed softly. She and Jaxon flanked the old Alpha, supporting him as they left.
The room was empty now, save for Livia’s suppressed sobs. Ethan and Caleb stood like statues, their souls lost in the wreckage of their family.
Amelia turned her back on her brothers. She walked toward the shadows in the corner.
The blonde mercenary was bound to a chair.
Amelia’s eyes were colder than the deepest winter frost.
“I know Griffin Drake sent you,” she said calmly.
The killer remained silent. A sneer played on his bruised lips.

“I need you to confess,” Amelia continued. “I want every dirty secret Griffin has. I want to bury the Drake
family.”
The killer laughed. It was a dry, rasping sound.
“You won’t get anything from me,” he croaked.
Amelia’s expression didn’t change.
“Glenda said the same thing,” she murmured.

She reached into her pocket. She pulled out a syringe filled with a dark, viscous liquid.
“This isn’t poison,” she said softly. “It’s much worse.”
With a swift motion, she grabbed his jaw.
*Crack.*
She dislocated it with a single hand. The killer’s eyes widened in terror.
Before he could react, she plunged the syringe into his mouth. She forced the liquid down his throat.
“Enjoy the sensation of drowning on dry land,” she whispered.
The killer began to convulse.
“Silas,” Amelia called out.
Silas stepped out from the darkness.
“Take him,” Amelia ordered. “Get the confession. Send him to the station tomorrow.”
Silas dragged the twitching killer out the back exit.
Theodore watched them go. He retracted his gaze and turned his wheelchair toward Amelia.
“You have interesting friends,” Theodore said suddenly.
Amelia raised an eyebrow. She wiped her hands on a handkerchief.
“Do I?” she asked.
“I think I’ve seen him before,” Theodore said. His voice was casual, but his eyes were sharp.
“Three years ago. Zurich,” he stated. “There was a top–tier private banquet by the lake.”
Amelia paused. Her hand stilled for a fraction of a second.
“Silas was there,” Theodore continued. “He attended as the representative of the Global Shadow Alliance.”
Amelia turned to face him fully. Surprise flickered in her sapphire eyes.
“That’s impossible,” she said. “The records of that night were wiped clean.”
Theodore shrugged slightly.
“I wasn’t there,” he admitted. “But a friend of mine was. He sits in a very high place. He sees everything.”
Amelia relaxed slightly. She walked over to the sofa and sat down.
“Your circle is wider than just the Pack lands,” she noted.
“It pays to have eyes everywhere,” Theodore replied.
The conversation shifted naturally. The tension of the family drama faded, replaced by business.
