Chapter 376: Am I Worthy of Her?
Chapter 376: Am I Worthy of Her?
(Amelia’s POV)
I leaned back in my chair, studying the man before me. Theodore’s expression was grave, his golden eyes burning with intensity.
A playful smile tugged at the corner of my lips.
“Do you really think so?” I asked, my voice light. “Do you believe a simple healer from the remote Meadow Brook Pack could be the leader of the Shadow Alliance? That organization terrifies the most powerful
factions in the world.”
Theodore didn’t blink. There was not a shred of doubt in his gaze.
“I believe it,” he said, his tone deadly serious. “Because you have the capability, Amelia.”
He paused, shifting slightly in his wheelchair. He began to list facts as if reciting a well–studied dossier.
“Four years ago, the Shadow Alliance rose from nowhere,” Theodore stated. “Its members were mostly gifted wolves from humble beginnings. Rejects and outcasts with extraordinary talent.”
He looked at me with respect.
“In just a few short years, it gained a global reputation. It controls the extraction of moonlight herbs. It
dominates cutting–edge defense technology and financial capital. It even built the most comprehensive
information network in werewolf society.”
Theodore shook his head in amazement.
“Rumors in the circle claimed the mastermind was the heir of a high Council member,” he continued.
“They thought only a powerful family background could support such rapid growth. Who could have
guessed the truth?”
He leaned forward, his voice dropping to a whisper.
“The Shadow King, the ruler of the world’s largest underground alliance, is a healer hiding in the
countryside.”
“The Alliance does more than make money,” Theodore added. His admiration was undisguised. “They
coordinate resources between Packs during famines. They handle Rogue crises that the Council ignores. They maintain order in the underground.”
I felt a warmth spread through my chest. It was the relief of finally being seen.
“You understand,” I said softly.
I looked down at my hands.

“I started it for wolves like me,” I explained. “I wanted to give gifted commoners a platform. I didn’t want
their talents buried because of their bloodline or where they were born.”
I looked back up at him.
“But simple commissions were a waste of their potential. So, we intervened in international affairs. We
built a reputation.”
My expression hardened.
“Many powerful Alphas tried to recruit us. They wanted to buy us or absorb us. I refused them all.”
“Why?” Theodore asked gently.
“I won’t let the Shadow Alliance be a puppet for any Pack or regime,” I declared. “We are the Sword of
Damocles hanging over the werewolf world. Where there is sin and injustice, our blade will fall.”
I smiled coldly.
“That is why I don’t fear the Drake family.”
Theodore nodded slowly. “I understand completely.”
He checked his watch.
“Since Adrian has been dealt with, I won’t return to the Stone River Pack House with you tonight. It would
draw unnecessary attention to your plans.”
(Author’s POV)
The black sedan glided through the city streets. Theodore sat in the back seat, staring out at the passing nightscape. His eyes were deep pools of thought.
Marcus gripped the steering wheel. He glanced at the rearview mirror, unable to contain his shock.
“I can’t believe it,” Marcus muttered. “The future Luna is the legendary Shadow King.”
He shook his head.
“No wonder I failed to recruit those top talents last year,” Marcus said. “They rejected my offers without hesitation. They had already sworn loyalty to Amelia.”
Theodore nodded slightly.
“Her vision is vast,” Theodore thought to himself. “She fights for the welfare of all wolves and social justice. My goal was merely to strengthen the Crimson Moon Pack. Her horizon is far broader than mine.”
Silence filled the car for a long moment.
“Marcus,” Theodore said suddenly. His voice was quiet.
“Alpha?”
“Do you think…” Theodore hesitated. “Am I still worthy of her as a mate?”

The car swerved slightly. Marcus quickly corrected the wheel, his heart pounding.
He looked at his Alpha in the mirror with wide eyes.
“Alpha, of course you are!” Marcus exclaimed urgently. “Luna Amelia isn’t shallow. She doesn’t care about
status or power. If she did, she wouldn’t have agreed to the engagement in the first place.”
Marcus took a breath.
“Besides, look at the entire Northern Territory. There is no male more excellent than you.”
Theodore looked down. His hand rested on his paralyzed legs. He couldn’t feel his touch through the
fabric.
“I am lucky,” he thought. “There is hope for a cure. If I were truly broken, knowing her identity might have
crushed me.”
Deep inside him, his wolf stirred.
*Then get stronger,* Logan growled. The great black wolf paced in his mind. *We must become the King
who rules everything. Only by standing at the peak of power can we have the strength to shield her from
the world.*
Theodore’s jaw set. A fire lit in his golden eyes.
He would secure the heirship to the Alpha King. He would become the wealthiest, most powerful ruler on
the continent. Only then would he be qualified to stand by her side for the rest of his life.
The next morning, the sky was a pale grey. It was six o’clock.
Amelia rose early to see Alaric off.
When she came downstairs, Jaxon and Seraphina were already waiting. The air was crisp and cold.
They walked toward the guest villa where Alaric was staying.
“Father is in pain,” Jaxon said quietly as they walked. “But Adrian brought this on himself. He betrayed the
pack and his own blood.”
Jaxon placed a hand on Amelia’s shoulder.
“Do not dwell on the past,” he advised sternly. “Do not feel guilty.”
Amelia smiled faintly.
“I won’t,” she promised. “I have to clean house. If I don’t, I can never truly control my own fate.”
Seraphina looked at the young woman. Her eyes shone with pride. Amelia was strong.
They arrived at Alaric’s room. The old Alpha looked terrible. He seemed to have aged ten years overnight.
His vitality was drained.
Footsteps clicked on the stairs. Lyra Drake descended, looking impeccable and confused.

“Father?” Lyra asked. “Where are you going so early?”
Alaric didn’t answer. He grabbed his cane and walked past her.
Outside the villa, a group of wolves from Meadow Brook were waiting. They were dressed in simple, rustic
clothes. Their bags were packed.
“Miss Amelia!” one of the elders called out cheerfully.
“We’ll be going now,” another said warmly. “We’ll be back for your Mating Ceremony! We have to celebrate
properly.”
Amelia hugged them. “Safe travels.”
Lyra stood in the doorway, her nose wrinkled in distaste.
“Why are you going with them?” Lyra scoffed. “Why go to the middle of nowhere?”
Alaric paused by the car door. He didn’t mention Adrian’s arrest. He didn’t want to explain the shame to his
daughter yet.
He looked at Lyra with cold, tired eyes.
“You’re on your own now,” Alaric said.
He got into the car. The convoy of simple vehicles drove away, leaving the opulent estate behind.
Jaxon and Seraphina said their goodbyes and returned to the East House.
Amelia remained standing in the driveway.
Lyra turned to her niece. Her face twisted into a fake, sugary smile.
“Amelia, dear,” Lyra asked, her voice dripping with false concern. “Why did your grandfather suddenly decide to go to that poor countryside to suffer?”
Amelia turned slowly. She looked Lyra straight in the eye.
A brilliant, sharp smile bloomed on Amelia’s face.
“Because,” Amelia said lightly. “Adrian is about to be sent to the Council’s maximum–security prison. Grandfather couldn’t handle the blow, so he’s seeking peace far away.”
