I frowned as I approached the open door of Theodore’s suite. Something felt off. I was already two hours late, but I had my reasons. The pack had needed metheir acting Alpha- to handle an urgent matter.

Stepping inside, my eyes immediately fell on a crumpled figure by the liquor cabinet. Isla! She lay motionless, her knees a bloody mess, a pool of crimson spreading beneath her. Her eyes were closed, and she looked barely alive.

Isla!I cried out, rushing toward her.

Before I could reach her, something slammed into my back with tremendous force. I crashed facefirst onto the hardwood floor, the impact knocking the wind from my lungs. A heavy boot pressed down between my shoulder blades, pinning me in place.

Struggling to lift my head, I found myself staring directly into Theodore’s cold, emotionless eyes. My brother sat in his wheelchair, looking down at me with contempt.

Theodorewhat are you doing?I gasped. What happened to Isla? Did you do this to her?

I couldn’t believe it. My brotherthe one who had always protected us, who had taken a hundred silver blades to save Islahad done this?

Theodore wheeled closer, his voice like ice. I told you to come immediately to collect her. Instead, you arrived two hours late. His lips curved into a cruel smile. Did you think I wouldn’t actually harm Isla?

There was an emergency in the pack,” I explained frantically. I couldn’t leave-

Theodore’s laugh cut me off. Of course. How convenient.

He nodded slightly to whoever was standing on my back. Suddenly, the pressure lifted, only for a heavy boot to come crashing down on the side of my head. Again and again, the foot stomped, grinding my face against the floor.

Pain exploded through my skull. I could feel my skin splitting, blood pouring down my face. When the assault finally paused, I looked up through swollen eyes to see Marcus, Theodore’s Beta, standing over me with a blank expression.

I stared at Theodore in shock. This wasn’t the brother I knew. The brother who had taught me

to hunt, who had protected me from our father’s harsh training.

Surprised?Theodore asked, noticing my expression. You really don’t know why I’m punishing you like this?

1 racked my brain, trying to understand, Is itbecause I didn’t come to pick you up for the meeting this morning?

Theodore sighed, shaking his head, It seems I’ve been too gentle. He looked past me. Clearly, he needs more persuasion.

The door burst open, and two of my own wolf guardsmen I’d assigned to protect Isla- rushed in. Instead of helping me, they began raining blows down on my already battered body, Kicks to my ribs, punches to my kidneys, stomping on my limbs.

For ten excruciating minutes, they beat me while Theodore watched impassively. I finally broke, curling into a protective ball.

Please,I begged, Theodore, make them stop! I’ll do anything!

Theodore raised a hand, and the beating ceased. Have you realized your mistake?

I nodded frantically, blood dripping from my split lip. Yes! Next time, no matter what meeting I’m in, I’ll come pick you up immediately. I promise!

A soft chuckle escaped Theodore’s lips. You still don’t understand. He waved his hand.

Continue.

The guards resumed their assault with renewed vigor. My ribs cracked under their boots. My face became unrecognizable. Another ten minutes passed before Theodore called them off again.

He wheeled his chair until he was directly in front of me, looking down at my broken form.

Let me explain your error,he said quietly. After my legs were crippled, I temporarily entrusted you with managing the pack. But you’ve started acting as if you’re the Alpha. His eyes narrowed dangerously. Tell me, Ronan, what does it mean to come pick me up? Do I need an escort to enter my own territory? Who do you think you are?

I was just trying to help,” I wheezed through broken teeth. I wanted to make things easier for you. I never intended to take your place.

For your sake, I hope that’s true,” Theodore replied. Because brother or not, I won’t hesitate to destroy anyone who tries to take what’s mine.

He leaned forward in his wheelchair. Now, here are my orders. I’m returning to the pack

tomorrow. Before then, you will expel every new wolf you’ve accepted this past month. You’ll personally compensate themnot with pack resources, but from your own pocket.

My heart sank. That would cost me a fortune.

Additionally,Theodore continued, you will personally invite back every pack member who was forced to leave under your management. If even one refuses to return, you’ll face another punishment tomorrow.

I swallowed painfully. I understand.

Theodore nodded, then turned his wheelchair toward the sofa where I noticed Amelia Stone sitting, watching the entire scene with interest.

Quite the show, isn’t it?she remarked with a slight smile. Last night you watched me perform, and today I get to watch yours. How fitting.

Theodore’s expression softened immediately. I specifically invited you here to treat me so you could enjoy some entertainment after your hard work.

How thoughtful of you, Little Pup,she teased.

Anything for you, My Queen,he responded with genuine warmth.

I slumped against the liquor cabinet beside Isla’s unconscious form, clenching my fists until my knuckles turned white. Hatred burned through me like acid.

That bastard Theodore! He’d beaten Isla and me to a pulp, yet there he was, flirting with Amelia Stone as if nothing had happened!

This humiliation would not stand. Someday, I would make him pay a hundredfold for today’s cruelty.

My wolf, Leo, growled furiously in my mind: We won’t forget this day.

No,” I silently agreed. We will make him pay.
