(Amelia’s POV)
“Rhys, go ahead. What is it?” I asked, curious about his sudden call.

“I have a friend who runs an entertainment company,” Rhys explained, his cultured voice smooth as ever. “He’s interested in purchasing the rights to your therapy journal. Would you be willing to meet to discuss it further?”
I couldn’t help but tease him. “This ‘friend‘ of yours… are they someone special to you?”
There was a slight pause on the other end. “That’s… not relevant to our discussion,” he replied, sounding uncharacteristically flustered. “Can you confirm a time for the meeting?”
“Well, I’m no longer in the Meadow Brook territory,” I informed him. “I’m actually in Northgate City now.”
“You’re in Northgate?” His voice brightened considerably. “That’s perfect! I’m here as well.”
We quickly settled on meeting the next day at noon. After confirming the details, I ended the call.
Theodore was watching me with undisguised curiosity. “Business?”
“That was Rhys Calder, the son of my mentor Rowan,” I explained. “He wants to discuss selling the rights to one of my treatment diaries.”
Theodore’s golden eyes widened slightly. “You write treatment diaries that can be sold for profit?”
I nodded, enjoying his surprised expression. “It’s a side project. They’re quite popular among pack healers.”
“What name do you publish under?” he asked.
“Lily,” I replied simply.
Theodore’s eyebrows shot up. “The Shadow Healer? Even I’ve heard that name, and I don’t read many medical texts. Isla mentioned it once.”
His admiration was evident, and I couldn’t deny enjoying it. He reached for my hand, his touch warm and reassuring.

“I’d like to accompany you tomorrow,” he said.
I smiled, assuming he wanted to declare himself as my partner. “Want to mark your territory?”

Theodore shook his head. “As your mate, I should get to know your friends. I’ll need to invite them to our mating ceremony, after all.”
His reasoning was so practical and thoughtful that I couldn’t argue. “That makes sense. I’d like you to come.”
With our plans settled, I stifled a yawn. The events of the morning had left me drained.
“I should head back for an afternoon nap,” I said, stretching slightly. “What are your plans for the rest of the day?”
Theodore’s expression softened. “I’ll be personally overseeing the preparations for our mating ceremony.”
His dedication surprised me. “You don’t need to do that. Your grandfather said he’d handle it.” “He promised it would be grand,” Theodore acknowledged. “But this is our ceremony, Amelia. It’s significant to us both. I need to ensure every detail is perfect, to give you memories you’ll cherish forever.”
I was touched by his sincerity. “I can help-”
He shook his head firmly. “Just provide a guest list. I’ll handle the rest.”
His golden eyes held mine, his expression solemn. “I promise you, Amelia, you will be celebrated. Everyone will envy you, and no one–absolutely no one–will dare suggest that the true daughter of the Stone River Alpha is only fit to be mated to a cripple in Celine’s place.”
The fierce protectiveness in his voice warmed me more than I cared to admit.
At four o’clock, I returned to the Stone estate, heading straight for the Briarwood House. As I approached, the sound of raised voices caught my attention.
I rounded the corner to see Adrian and Livia, flanked by several pack warriors, arguing with my guards. They were clearly trying to force their way in.
Agnes, the elderly caregiver who had become one of my few allies in the household, spotted me first. Her face paled with alarm.
“Miss Amelia!” she called out, frantically gesturing for me to go inside. “Please, hide quickly! They’ve come with hostile intent!”

Too late. Adrian’s head snapped in my direction, his face flushing with rage the moment he
SAW me
“You truly are my wonderful daughter!” he spat, storming toward me. First, you cripple your brother, and now you dare to attack your own mother! What’s next? Are you going to come after me, your own father?”
I could see the veins bulging in his neck. He must have rushed here from his office after receiving a tearful, frantic call from Livia,
I met his gaze calmly. “I believe you need to correct your address, I said, my voice serious. 1 am not your daughter.”
Adrian’s expression darkened further. “It’s clear you have no intention of forgiving us, he said bitterly, “Your previous threat–to leave us with nothing–was sincere, wasn’t it?”
I couldn’t help but let out a short, amused laugh. The man truly had no self–awareness.
“So, Uncle Adrian, you came all this way just to confirm whether I meant what I said?
