Chapter 77: Counterattack
Chapter 77: Counterattack
(Third–person’s POV)
“Caleb deserved that slap!” Seraphina’s cold, resolute voice out through the tension
She strode forward, positioning herself protectively in front of Amelia. Her gjes met Panterch
Alaric’s without a hint of fear.
“The vile things that boy said warranted more than a slap, she declared firmly. “Even ifted been beaten to death, it would have been justified. His behavior weant human?
She turned her fierce gaze toward Adrian and Livia, her voice dripping with contempt
“It’s parents like you who raised a son like that. And now you come harassing Amelia while my husband and I are away? Your behavior is beneath contempt
Livia’s face contorted with rage. ‘How dare you, you barren she–wolf” she scat venomously
She whirled toward Patriarch Alaric, tears streaming down her face in a practiced display of
victimhood.
‘Father, look! Seraphina is willing to tear our family apart for Amelia’s sake!” She pointed an accusing finger. “Her words are just as offensive as mine. Does that mean she can hit pecole
too?”
Patriarch Alaric massaged his temples, his patience visibly wearing thin. “ENOUGH!” he thundered, silencing them all.
His sharp eyes assessed the situation. The root of this problem is clear. Adrian and Livia came seeking Amelia’s forgiveness. When denied, they lashed out in embarrassment.”
Livia attempted to interject. “But family should be harmonious-”
“We are not family, Amelia cut in, her voice like ice. ‘My only family are my adoptive parents and my grandfather.”
Her lips curved into a mocking smile. “Your intelligence must be truly lacking if you were so easily manipulated by Celine’s birth mother.”
Patriarch Alaric’s expression darkened further. He turned to his second son with undisguised disappointment.
“Adrian, you signed an agreement severing ties with Amelia. Why are you still pestering her?”

His eyes narrowed knowingly. “You only regret your actions now because you see how exceptional she is.”
He leaned forward, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. “If you continue this nonsense, I’ll transfer the pack’s inheritance rights to Amelia immediately. You won’t see a single penny.”
Livia’s mouth snapped shut, her face paling dramatically.
Patriarch Alaric sighed heavily. “Let’s consider this matter closed,” he suggested, fatigue evident in his voice.
Adrian nodded stiffly. “I agree.”
Seraphina turned to Amelia. “The decision is yours, dear.”
Livia scoffed. “What does she have to forgive? I’m the one who’s been wronged here.”
“You had your men attack Agnes,” Amelia stated flatly.
Livia laughed dismissively. “A mere caretaker? That’s nothing to make a fuss about.”
Amelia’s lips curled into a cold smile. “Even a caretaker knew to protect me, while you, my birth mother, did not. Why should I care if you’re hurt?”
Patriarch Alaric sighed deeply. “If you hadn’t made those mistakes back then, we wouldn’t be in this situation today.”
Adrian’s face hardened as he stared at Amelia. “What exactly do you want?” His tone carried a clear warning.
Amelia walked deliberately toward him, her movements calm and measured. “Out of respect for my grandfather, I’ll simply return what was given.”
Before anyone could react, her foot shot out, connecting solidly with Adrian’s abdomen. He had no time to defend himself.
Livia screamed in horror. When she recovered from her shock, she rounded on Amelia. “How dare you kick your own father over a mere caretaker?!”
Adrian struggled to his feet with the help of his bodyguards. The physical pain in his stomach was nothing compared to the humiliation burning through him–humiliation inflicted by his own daughter.
Patriarch Alaric frowned slightly. “Amelia, that was perhaps excessive. There are other ways to resolve this.”

“Only an eye for an eye is true revenge,” Amelia replied firmly. “Anything else is compromise.”
Patriarch Alaric hesitated, words dying on his lips. He wasn’t trying to reprimand his granddaughter–he merely worried her sharp edges might attract disaster.
Livia stared at Patriarch Alaric for a long time, waiting to see how he would respond to his son being kicked. When she realized the old man had offered only the mildest of reproaches -hardly even a criticism–rage flooded through her.
“Is that all you have to say?” she demanded, her voice rising hysterically. “Your son was just assaulted!”
Patriarch Alaric fixed her with a cold stare. “My son had his men attack an elderly Omega who has served this family loyally for decades. Perhaps you should consider that before demanding justice.”
Adrian’s face darkened with shame and anger. He grabbed Livia’s arm roughly. “We’re leaving.”
“But-” Livia protested.
“Now,” Adrian hissed through clenched teeth.
As they turned to go, Amelia’s voice stopped them. “If you ever touch someone under my protection again, a kick will be the least of your concerns.”
Adrian paused but didn’t turn around. His shoulders were rigid with tension.
“Consider this your only warning,” Amelia.continued, her voice eerily calm. “Next time, I won’t be so merciful.”
Without another word, Adrian pulled Livia away, their bodyguards following behind them. The warriors who had been incapacitated were beginning to recover, groaning as they staggered to their feet.
Seraphina knelt beside Agnes, helping the elderly woman to a more comfortable position. “Let’s get you inside,” she murmured gently.
Patriarch Alaric watched his son retreat, disappointment etched deeply in his weathered face. He turned to Amelia, studying her with a mixture of concern and pride.
“You have your grandmother’s spirit,” he said quietly. “She never backed down either.”
Amelia’s expression softened slightly. “I won’t apologize for defending those I care about.”
“I wouldn’t expect you to,” he replied. “Just remember that every action has consequences.”

Amelia nodded, her eyes drifting to where Adrian and Livia had disappeared. “So does abandoning your child.”
Livia glanced back one last time, her eyes burning with hatred as she watched Patriarch Alaric speaking gently with Amelia. The old man had barely reacted to his son being kicked, yet he stood there having a pleasant conversation with the perpetrator.
