Chapter 82: Seeing Through the Hypocrisy

Chapter 82: Seeing Through the Hypocrisy

(Amelia’s POV)

Claim

When Green came back to his senses, he found himself staring directly into the glowing eyes of the spider and scorpion. Startled, he immediately slithered away to hide.

I laughed and gently stroked the little snake. My phone buzzed with a new message from Theodore, and warmth flooded my chest as I read it.

**Theodore:** *I need to confess something. The first time I saw you in Meadow Brook Pack, I was attracted to you instantly. Even though Logan was dormant then, the human side of me fell for you at first sight. When I suggested the arranged marriage, I was actually hoping you’d marry me.*

My heart skipped a beat. So that powerful Alpha had fallen for me at first sight too.

**Amelia:** *That makes me feel secure. I hope you have sweet dreams about me tonight.*

I watched the message send successfully and couldn’t help smiling. Truth was, I’d already been having dreams about him dreams that left me breathless and blushing when I woke

  1. up.

(Amelia’s POV)

The next morning, Ethan appeared in the backyard with two gardeners. They started preparing a garden plot for my moonlight herbs.

After just over an hour of digging, Ethan’s injured leg began bothering him. His movements grew sluggish as his back ached. He stopped shoveling and looked at me.

Did you have to do all the physical labor yourself in that unknown little pack?

I looked up from my medical book, sarcasm flashing in my eyes. If you’re alone, how else would you survive without doing it yourself?

Ethan fell silent for a moment. Then he said, I didn’t believe these herbs had any value until I

heard Grandfather Alaric confirm it himself.

I watched him warily, suspecting he wanted to slack off.

I know you hate our parents for not bringing you back to the pack. You hate me and Caleb

for giving you trouble back then.

I let out a cold laugh and cut him off. If Caleb had disfigured an ordinary girl back then, her entire life would have been ruined. That’s not just troublethat’s destruction.

(Amelia’s POV)

Since my right leg is already ruined, I’ve gotten my comeuppance. We should be even now.Ethan insisted. Don’t trap yourself in hatred, Amelia. Mutual destruction benefits no one.

I closed my book and ruthlessly exposed his hypocrisy. You’ve never truly felt remorse. You’re just afraid now that you’ve failed.

I stared at him coldly. If your schemes had succeeded back then, would you have reflected on them? You’re only saying these nice words now because you’ve discovered I can fight back that I can leave you all with nothing.

Ethan was speechless under my rebuke.

I stood up. Ava growled with disgust in my mind: *Don’t listen to him, Amelia. He reeks of hypocrisy. He doesn’t deserve to be your brother.*

Since you chose cruelty back then, don’t pretend to be merciful in front of me now,I said coldly. I don’t need your cheap charity.

I turned and walked away.

(Author’s POV)

Ethan stared at her retreating figure, his expression gradually turning cold. Since she insisted on fighting, he wouldn’t show any family sentiment either.

Just then, Celine called to remind him it was time to go meet the mysterious author Lily’srepresentative.

I’ll be right back,Ethan replied.

At half past ten in the morning, Livia saw Ethan, Caleb, and Celine preparing to leave together.

Where are you three going?

To meet Shadow Healer Lily. Thanks to Celine’s connections,Ethan explained.

Livia immediately grabbed Celine’s hand. You’re the pride of our family! Such a thoughtful, considerate daughter.

Caleb chimed in smugly from the side. Celine is excellent, so naturally her friends are excellent too. Praising Celine is the same as praising me.

Then Caleb warned their parents. Don’t think about truly accepting Amelia back just because she has some talent. That would hurt Celine’s feelings.

Celine timely lowered her head with tears in her eyes, showing a look of grievance but willingness to endure for their sake.

Livia quickly comforted Celine. Wanting to bring Amelia back isn’t from the heart at all. It’s purely to prevent Uncle Jaxon’s family from using this as an excuse to gain inheritance rights to the pack. We can’t let Jaxon and Seraphina drain even a penny from the company.
