Chapter 83: Amelia’s Hidden Talent
Chapter 83: Amelia’s Hidden Talent
(Celine’s POV)
In the luxurious living room of Stone Pack House, the crystal chandelier cast cold fragments of light. Mother Livia gripped my hand tightly. Her perfectly manicured nails almost dug into my flesh from the force. Her eyes burned with urgency, as if afraid I wouldn’t believe every word she said.
“Listen, Celine, my darling.” Livia’s voice trembled with an almost obsessive fervor. “That wild girl—I mean Amelia–I brought her back to the pack not because of any damn maternal love, and certainly not to make up for some family bond. All of this is for you, completely to protect you.”
My heart skipped a beat. Mother took a deep breath and continued. “That marriage contract… to marry our daughter off to that crippled Theodore in a wheelchair from Crimson Moon Pack, it’s like pushing someone into a fire pit! I will not allow my perfectly cultivated heir to suffer such torture. Your father Adrian and I have long known you’re not our biological child, but in our hearts, only you are our most beloved daughter. Bringing Amelia back is just to let her fill that hole for you, to complete that terrible marking ceremony.”
A trace of annoyance crossed Livia’s face, even with some disgust. “If I had known that wild girl was a thorny ‘time bomb, I should have broken the contract directly instead of letting her come back and waste the pack’s resources. I swear, she’ll never get a kind face from anyone in this pack.”
Hearing these words, the boulder pressing on my heart finally lifted. Tears instantly welled up in my eyes. I threw myself into Livia’s arms, my voice choking. “Mom… I thought you didn’t want me anymore… I never blamed you, I’m really grateful…”
We embraced and cried together, as if performing a deeply moving family drama. Caleb, sitting on the other side of the sofa, angrily chimed in. “Exactly, from now on we’ll treat Amelia like air. This family only needs to pamper Celine. That replacement doesn’t deserve any attention.”
“Enough, put away those tears.” Ethan, who had been standing by the floor–to–ceiling windows, turned around and coldly interrupted our emotional performance. His tone carried undeniable authority. “The urgent matter now is business. Starlight Media must secure the copyright for the final volume of ‘Lily’s‘ healing notes. Once we get this copyright, our achievements will overshadow the negative publicity Amelia has recently brought to the family.”

Livia immediately wiped away her tears and resumed her usual arrogance. “Ethan is right. Celine, go touch up your makeup. Don’t keep our friends waiting. This is our chance to turn things around.”
(Rhys’s POV)
I parked my black SUV in the shadows of the ornate gates of Stone Pack House. My fingers unconsciously tapped an irritated rhythm on the steering wheel. Outside the window, ivy swayed in the wind, just like those tangled family secrets.
My phone screen lit up with a call from my father Rowan. I originally thought he would command me in his usual unquestionable tone to give up writing and go back to inherit the vast Calder family business. But after I answered, his voice was low and serious, carrying an unprecedented oppressive force.
“Rhys, that girl… Amelia, she’s been brought back to Stone Pack.” Father said on the other end, his voice suppressing anger. “The only reason they brought her back is as a sacrifice, to fulfill that damn marriage contract. To replace that fake and marry Theodore.”
My fingers gripping the phone instantly tightened, knuckles turning white.
“Listen, son.” Rowan’s voice became unusually cold. “Amelia will be isolated and helpless in that pack. As the heir to the Calder–family, I demand you must protect her completely. If anyone in Stone pack dares to touch a hair on her head, you get it back for her. Even if it means being enemies with the entire Stone pack, the Calder family can afford it.”
After hanging up, the car fell into deathly silence. I closed my eyes, and the chaotic clues in my mind finally connected: Celine was the fake who stole the nest, while Amelia, whom I knew in that remote countryside of Meadow Brook Pack, wearing faded jeans, was the Alpha’s daughter who had been lost from Stone pack.
A strong sense of regret surged up. I had been too absorbed in plotting my new book to notice the dramatic changes happening around me. I swore silently that I would never let Amelia suffer again. Although Stone River Pack was quite strong in the Northern Territories, their arrogance meant nothing before the deep–rooted Calder family. If my father hadn’t chosen to live in seclusion, even the Alpha King family ruling Crimson Moon Pack would have to show us respect.
My thoughts drifted back to that grassland in Meadow Brook two years ago. That was the biggest shock of my life.
At that time, sixteen–year–old Amelia saw me writing online novels on my laptop and curiously tried writing too. I originally just wanted to encourage this country girl with some

superiority, but when I saw her first draft, I froze completely. This girl who had never received professional training had written such a grand, delicate, and profound opening, and the story inside was even more interesting.
I immediately helped her contact an editor for submission. Once that healing note was published, it dominated the top of all major charts at an amazing speed, achieving success that even I could only look up to.
What made me feel even more ashamed was that writing was just a hobby for Amelia to pass time. Her real talent lay in those hands that could bring the dead back to life–she was a natural healer who could cultivate rare moonlight herbs. Even my arrogant father Rowan had marveled that she was a rare genius Healer seen once in a century.
Over the
years, the four healing notes published under Amelia’s pen name “Lily” had already earned astronomical copyright fees. Now, she only had one final healing note whose copyright hadn’t been sold, which had become the coveted prize of major publishers.
Ironically, I originally didn’t want to use my private relationship with “Lily” to interfere in commercial affairs. But because I had feelings for Celine… or rather, for the Celine I thought was pure and kind, I reluctantly agreed to arrange a meeting between her older brother Ethan and “Lily’s” representative. Now thinking about it, this was a huge joke–they wanted to push Amelia into a fire pit while still hoping to use Amelia’s works to whitewash their reputation.
Just as I was lost in thought, a harsh engine roar interrupted my contemplation. A bright yellow Ferrari stopped arrogantly next to my car.
The window rolled down. Celine sat in the passenger seat, wearing a pure white haute couture dress with exquisite makeup, still looking like a pure and flawless angel. Caleb, who was driving, wore sunglasses and didn’t even bother to look at me properly. He just rolled down the window and said arrogantly, “Hey, Rhys, lead the way. Don’t dawdle.”
That look made it seem like I was their hired personal manservant.
the Calder family, but a valet they had hired.
I frowned and looked past Caleb directly at Celine. I expected her to say something, even just a gentle rebuke, or show me some protection.
However, she just gave me a standard, slightly apologetic smile and said softly, “Sorry Rhys, Caleb insisted on coming along. You don’t mind, do you?”
Watching her sit guiltlessly in that luxury sports car built with pack resources, enjoying everything that should have belonged to Amelia, the last bit of fondness in my heart instantly vanished, replaced by strong disappointment and coldness.

I began to wonder, if Celine really was like father said, letting Amelia come back as a scapegoat to escape marrying the disabled Alpha, then in her eyes, was I also just a tool to approach fame and fortune, someone who could be discarded at any time?
