Chapter 85: Why is it Amelia?!

Chapter 85: Why is it Amelia?!

(Author’s POV)

Theodore sat in his wheelchair, his golden eyes flashing with a cold, predatory light. He looked up at Celine, whose elegant smile was beginning to c***k at the edges.

Well, Celine?Theodore asked, his voice smooth but edged with ice. You haven’t answered me. Are you happy to hear that my legs might actually heal?

Marcus stood behind the wheelchair, his face a mask of professional indifference. But inside, he felt a grim satisfaction. He knew exactly what his Alpha was doing. Theodore was deliberately twisting the knife. Everyone knew why Celine had broken their engagement years ago. She had looked at his crippled legs and decided he was a sinking ship. She wanted a King, not a burden.

Now, hearing that the man she discarded might reclaim his throne, panic flickered behind her blue eyes.

Celine’s smile stiffened. It looked painful, like a mask glued too tight to her skin. She forced the corners of her mouth upward.

Of course, Theodore,” she said, her voice pitching slightly higher than usual. I amoverjoyed. Truly. Nothing would make me happier than seeing you walk again.

Inside Theodore’s mind, his massive black wolf, Logan, let out a low, rumbling snarl. *Liar. She smells like rot and deceit.* Logan wanted to lunge, to drive this fake woman away, but

Theodore held him back.

I’m sure you are,” Theodore replied, his tone flat. He didn’t believe a word of it.

Just then, a sleek black sedan pulled up to the curb. Ethan Stone stepped out, adjusting his suit jacket. He walked toward the group with confident strides, but the moment he got close,

he faltered.

Theodore didn’t even look at him, yet the sheer pressure of his Alpha aura rolled off him in waves. It was suffocating. Ethan’s shoulders hunched instinctively, his confidence evaporating. He bowed his head slightly, a sign of submission he couldn’t control.

Alpha Theodore,Ethan said, his voice respectful and cautious.

Theodore gave a barely perceptible nod. His expression remained distant, as if Ethan were nothing more than a fly on the wall.

Rhys stepped forward, breaking the heavy tension. He checked his watch and looked at the Stone siblings.

The private dining room is ready,Rhys said coolly. We shouldn’t keep the guests waiting.

Celine looked at Theodore one last time, hoping for some warmth, but found only a wall of ice. She bit her lip, swallowed her frustration, and turned to leave.

We’ll go ahead then, she said softly, before walking away with her brothers.

(Author’s POV)

Rhys followed the Stone siblings toward the restaurant entrance, keeping a few paces behind. The air was thick with unspoken grievances.

Caleb walked with a heavy stomp, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. He glanced back over his shoulder, glaring at the spot where Theodore remained.

I don’t get it,Caleb grumbled loudly. He’s just a cripple. Why does he get to act like he owns the world? Did you see the way he looked at us?

Ethan stopped abruptly. He spun around, his face darkening with anger.

Shut your mouth, Caleb,Ethan hissed.

Caleb flinched but didn’t back down immediately. What? I’m just saying-

You are saying stupid things,” Ethan cut him off, his voice low and dangerous. You need to learn your place. If Theodore Crimson actually heals, do you understand what that means? He will be the Alpha King of the Northern Territories. He is the sole heir to the Crimson Moon Pack.

Ethan took a step closer to his younger brother, looming over him. The Stone family is nothing compared to them. If you offend him, you drag us all down. Do not let me hear you disrespect him again.

Caleb scowled, kicking at a pebble on the ground. He looked unconvinced. He’s been in that chair for years. People say he’s done. I doubt he can ever return to his peak.

It doesn’t matter what you doubt,” Ethan snapped. It matters what is possible.

Celine placed a hand on Caleb’s arm, her voice soothing but firm. Ethan is right, Caleb. Please, just for today, keep your temper in check. We are here to ask for a favor. We need to meet this healer.

Caleb rolled his eyes. Fine. But I still don’t believe that Amelia is the one fixing him. Since when does our useless sister know ancient medicine? It sounds like a joke.

Rhys, who had been listening silently, suddenly stopped walking. The temperature around him seemed to drop. He stared at Caleb, his silver eyes narrowing.

You really don’t know when to stop, do you?Rhys said, his voice dangerously calm. I suggest you watch your words very carefully, Caleb. Ignorance is not an excuse for stupidity

Caleb opened his mouth to retort, but something in Rhys’s gaze made him pause. There was a hardness there he hadn’t expected from a writer. Caleb swallowed his insult and looked away, muttering under his breath but staying silent.

(Author’s POV)

The group entered the luxurious private room. A large round table sat in the center, set with fine crystal and silver cutlery. They took their seats, the atmosphere tense.

As soon as they settled, Caleb turned his attention to Rhys. He drummed his fingers on the

table, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.

So, Rhys,Caleb started, his tone accusatory. How exactly do you know the Shadow Healer Lily? It seems pretty convenient.

Rhys leaned back in his chair, looking bored. That is none of your business.

Caleb scoffed. I think it is. You’re asking for a five hundred thousand dollar commission. How do we know you’re not just making this up? Maybe you don’t know her at all. Maybe you’re just trying to scam us out of the money.

Rhys’s expression didn’t change, but his jaw tightened.

Celine quickly interjected, putting on her best peacemaker act. She swatted Caleb’s arm lightly. Caleb, stop it! That’s rude. Rhys is my friend. He doesn’t look like someone who needs money that badly.

Caleb let out a short, awkward laugh, realizing he might have pushed too far. I’m just being cautious, Celine. You can’t trust everyone.

Ethan shot Caleb a withering glare that promised punishment later. He turned to Rhys, offering a polite nod. I apologize for my brother, Mr. Calder. He speaks without thinking. We appreciate you arranging this meeting.

Rhys didn’t respond, simply staring at the door.

Minutes ticked by. The clock on the wall moved past the agreed meeting time. The room grew quiet, the silence stretching thin.

Ethan checked his expensive wristwatch and frowned. It is past the scheduled time. Is she coming? Perhaps we should call to confirm?

Just as he suggested it, the heavy oak door handle turned.

Rhys’s lips curved into a small, amused smile. He looked toward the entrance.

No need,” Rhys said. She’s here.

(Amelia’s POV)

A few minutes earlier, I pulled Theodore’s car up to the front of the restaurant. The engine purred into silence.

Before I could even unbuckle, a valet in a crisp uniform was at my door. He opened it with a flourish and bowed deeply.

Welcome back, Miss Stone,he said, his voice filled with genuine respect.

I handed him the keys. He didn’t ask for a ticket. He didn’t ask for a name. He just took the keys and bowed again before rushing to open the trunk to retrieve Theodore’s wheelchair.

Theodore watched this exchange, his eyebrows raising slightly. As I helped him into his chair, he looked up at me with a curious glint in his golden eyes.

You didn’t show a reservation or a VIP card,” Theodore observed. Do you know the owner of this place?

I adjusted the blanket over his legs and winked at him. You could say that. I’m actually a silent partner here.

Theodore looked surprised. A partner?

Rhys’s father, Rowan Calder, is the owner,I whispered, leaning closer to his ear. He likes to keep a low profile, just like me. So, naturally, the staff treats me well.

Theodore chuckled, a low, rich sound that vibrated in his chest. He reached out and squeezed my hand. Amelia Stone, just how many secrets are you hiding from me?

Stick around,I teased, smiling down at him. You’ll find out slowly.

Inside my mind, Ava was practically vibrating with excitement. She paced back and forth, her

tail swishing through the air.

*I can’t wait,* Ava growled happily. *I want to see their stupid faces when we walk through that door. They think they are meeting a legend, and instead, they get the girl they threw in the

trash.*

*Patience, Ava,* I told her, though I felt the same thrill of anticipation.

I pushed Theodore through the restaurant. The staff nodded discreetly as we passed, guiding us toward the private VIP corridor. We reached the double doors at the end of the hall.

I stopped for a second, taking a deep breath to compose my features. I wanted to look calm. I wanted to look indifferent.

Ready?I asked Theodore softly.

Always,he replied.

I pushed the doors open with a firm shove.

The heavy doors swung inward, revealing the three people sitting around the table. Ethan, Celine, and Caleb all looked up simultaneously, their expressions expectant. They were ready to greet the mysterious, powerful Lily.

Instead, they saw me.

For a second, there was total silence. It was as if their brains couldn’t process the visual

information.

Then, Caleb’s chair scraped loudly against the floor as he shot to his feet. His eyes bugged out, and his face turned a mottled shade of red. He pointed a shaking finger at me, his voice cracking with disbelief and rage.

Amelia?!he shouted. What are you doing here?
