Chapter 87: Caleb’s Death Wish

Chapter 87: Caleb’s Death Wish

(Author’s POV)

Theodore turned his gaze to Amelia, a small smile playing on his lips.

You picked a good spot,” Theodore said, his voice calm and even. But it makes sense. Moonlight Haven is actually a property under the Calder Pack’s name.

Amelia raised an eyebrow, looking at him with genuine curiosity.

Claim

It used to be an obscure little restaurant,Theodore continued, tapping his finger lightly on the armrest. But in the last few years, it underwent a massive reform. Now, it is one of the most popular establishments in the Northern Territories. The revenue flow is significant.

Amelia shrugged, leaning back in her chair. You have a sharp eye, Theodore. I’ll give you

that.

She paused, tilting her head slightly. But I am surprised. You are the heir to the Alpha King. You have the entire Northern Territories to worry about. Massive political shifts, border disputes, military strategy. I wouldn’t think you’d have the time to memorize the ownership of every midsized restaurant in the city.

Theodore’s expression turned serious, though the warmth didn’t leave his eyes. That is exactly why I will sit on the throne, Amelia. To hold power, you cannot just look at the mountain. You have to know every stone at the base.

He leaned forward slightly. I need to know the distribution of every influential force. I need to know where the money flows and who controls the assets. Only by mastering all the

information can I stay one step ahead of my enemies.

Inside Amelia’s mind, her wolf, Ava, stretched out lazily. She let out a yawn that rippled through Amelia’s consciousness.

*This Alpha actually has a brain,* Ava commented, her tone approving. *He is not just muscle and teeth. He is worthy of standing beside us.*

Rhys sat quietly on the other side of the table, sipping his coffee. He didn’t speak, but his mind was racing.

He looked from Amelia to Theodore. The atmosphere between them was heavy, charged with a power that made the air feel thin.

On one side, there was Amelia. The lost daughter, the healer, the writer, and secretly the Shadow King who commanded the rogues. On the other side was Theodore Crimson. The crippled wolf who still radiated enough authority to make a grown Alpha kneel. The heir to the most powerful pack in the world.

Rhys felt a chill run down his spine. He felt like a mortal sitting between two ancient

monsters.

*If they truly join forces,* Rhys thought, taking another nervous sip of coffee, *they will be unstoppable.*

He thought about his own future. His father, Rowan, wanted him to return and inherit the Calder Pack eventually. The Calder family was wealthy and influential, but compared to the Crimson Moon Pack, they were small fish.

Rhys silently prayed. *If I do go back and take over the family business, I hope Theodore remembers I’m Amelia’s friend. For Amelia’s sake, please don’t let him swallow up the Calder Pack’s assets just because he wants to own everything on the board.*

Outside the private dining room, the hallway was quiet. The heavy door clicked shut behind the Stone siblings.

Celine stopped walking and turned to Ethan. Her eyes immediately filled with tears, her lower lip trembling.

Ethan, I’m so sorry, she said, her voice choking up. This is all my fault. I thoughtI really thought Rhys would help us. I didn’t know he was going to humiliate us like that.

Ethan sighed. He looked at Celine’s weeping face and felt a pang of sympathy. He reached out and patted her shoulder gently.

Don’t cry, Celine,” Ethan said, his voice softening. I don’t blame you. We all underestimated Amelia.

Ethan’s face darkened as he thought about his sister. That strayshe is more cunning than we thought. She must have known Rhys’s identity all along. She deliberately set this up to make fools of us.

Caleb stood next to them, his fists clenched at his sides. He scoffed loudly, the sound echoing in the corridor. The anger in his eyes was burning hot, almost uncontrollable.

Stop crying, Celine,” Caleb snapped, though his anger was directed at the closed door behind them. It’s not your fault. It’s that b***h Amelia. She planned this. She wanted to see us beg.

But what do we do now?Celine asked, wiping her eyes. The company needs that copyright.

If we don’t get it

Claim

We have no choice,Ethan said, running a hand through his hair. We have to wait until the end of the month. The official meeting is our only chance to see the real Lily. Amelia won’t

be able to block us then.

Caleb wasn’t listening. He turned around and stared at the sign for Moonlight Havenhanging on the wall. His green eyes narrowed into slits.

I’m not waiting,” Caleb growled. She thinks she can play games with us? She thinks she can sit in there and laugh at me?

Caleb, let it go for now,Ethan warned, frowning. Don’t cause a scene here. This is a highend place.

I don’t care,” Caleb spat. I’m going to teach her a lesson. A lesson she won’t forget.

He looked at Ethan and Celine. You two go. Take the car. I’ll find my own way back later.

Caleb, don’t do anything rash,Celine said. Her voice sounded worried, but inside, a dark joy was blooming in her chest.

*Go on, Caleb,* she thought, watching his furious face. *Destroy her. Make her disappear. I hope she dies today.*

Just go,Caleb waved them off dismissively. I’ll handle this. I won’t leave any evidence.

Ethan hesitated for a moment, then nodded. He took Celine’s arm and led her toward the exit, leaving Caleb standing alone in the hallway.

Caleb waited until Ethan’s car had pulled away from the curb outside. He didn’t call a taxi. Instead, he turned and headed straight for the elevators that led down to the underground parking garage.

The garage was dimly lit and quiet. Caleb walked through the rows of expensive vehicles, his eyes scanning for one specific car.

He found it quickly in the VIP section. A white Porsche Panamera.

Caleb let out a cold, sharp laugh. Unbelievable,he muttered to himself. A girl who grew up in the mud of the Meadow Brook Pack driving a car like this? Who did she sleep with to get

it?

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. Get down here. VIP section, B2. Bring the

tools.

Moments later, two burly men in dark clothes appeared from the shadows. They were his personal bodyguards, men he paid to do his dirty work.

Boss?one of them asked.

Caleb pointed at the white Porsche. His voice was ice cold.

Claim

First, cut the surveillance lines for this sector. I don’t want any cameras seeing us,Caleb ordered.

Done, the guard said, moving toward the wall panel.

Then,” Caleb continued, a cruel smirk twisting his lips, get under that car. I want the brake lines cut. Not all the wayjust enough so they fail when she hits high speed.

He tossed a small black device to the other guard. And stick this GPS tracker on the chassis. I want to know exactly where she is when she crashes.

Caleb stared at the shiny white paint of the car. He imagined Amelia’s face twisted in terror as the pedal went to the floor and the car refused to stop.

I want to watch her die,Caleb whispered to the empty air. I want to see her crawling out of the wreckage like a dying dog, begging for help that isn’t coming.

(Amelia’s POV)

An hour later, the lunch was over.

We stood at the entrance of the restaurant. The afternoon sun was bright, but the air was

crisp.

Thank you for today, Rhys,” I said, giving him a warm smile. I’m sorry my family made a mess of things.

Rhys waved his hand. Don’t apologize. It was entertaining, in a way. I’m just glad I could help.

He adjusted his jacket. Don’t forget, the engagement party is this Saturday night. You have

to be there.

I wouldn’t miss it,I promised. I need to see the look on their faces when I walk in.

I chuckled. Just make sure you don’t cry when I bully that sisterof yours.

Rhys laughed. I’ll try to be strong.

He got into his car and drove off. I turned to Theodore, gripping the handles of his wheelchair.

Ready to go?I asked.

Claim

Before Theodore could answer, the manager of Moonlight Haven appeared at my side. He looked nervous. He glanced around to make sure no one was listening, then leaned in close

to me.

Miss Stone,” he whispered urgently. We have a problem.”

I stopped. What is it?

Your brother, Caleb. He didn’t leave.

My eyes narrowed. Where is he?

He went to the garage, the manager said quietly. He had his men cut the surveillance feeds. Then they tampered with your vehicle. They compromised the brake lines and planted

a GPS tracker.

I felt a surge of cold anger, but I kept my face impassive.

However, the manager continued, a hint of pride in his voice, he didn’t know about our secondary system. The pinhole cameras concealed in the ventilation shafts were on a separate circuit. We have everything recorded in high definition. Every word, every action.

A dangerous smile curled the corners of my lips.

I hadn’t expected Caleb to be this stupid. Or this vicious. He didn’t just want to humiliate me; he wanted me dead. He was actively trying to kill his own sister.

In my mind, Ava let out a low, menacing growl. The sound vibrated through my bones.

*He wants death?* Ava snarled. *Then let’s give it to him. Let me out, Amelia. I will tear his throat out right here in the parking lot. I will show him what true fear looks like.*

*No,* I told her firmly. *Not like that. That’s too easy. We are going to do this my way.*

I calmed the raging wolf in my head and looked down at Theodore. He was watching me, his eyes sharp and observant. He had heard the manager’s report.

Theodore,” I said softly. Are you afraid of death?

Theodore raised an eyebrow. He didn’t look at the car; he looked only at me. His gaze was steady, filled with an unshakeable trust.

If I am with you,” he said simply, I am not afraid.

I laughed. It was a short, sharp sound. Good.

Then let’s raise the stakes,I said.

I pushed the wheelchair toward the car. I helped Theodore into the passenger seat of the white Porsche, the very car that was now a death trap.

I slid into the driver’s seat and slammed the door. I didn’t start the engine immediately. Instead, I pulled out my phone.

I tapped the screen, opening an encrypted channel. The Bluetooth system connected instantly.

Silas,I said, my voice hard as stone. Locate Caleb. I want his realtime position. Now.
