Chapter 90: The Secret Investigation
Chapter 90: The Secret Investigation
(Amelia’s POV)
Claim
Amelia lay in the hospital bed, letting Seraphina tuck the blanket around her. Though most of her injuries were fake from the drug’s effects, seeing Seraphina’s red–rimmed eyes and careful movements made warmth surge through her heart.
She closed her eyes and pretended to rest, using her sharp werewolf hearing to catch sounds
from outside the room.
She heard Jaxon exit the neighboring room and speak quietly with Seraphina.
“Only Alpha King Gideon came to handle things from the Crimson family,” Jaxon whispered. “Theodore’s father Theron never showed up. That shows the family’s internal divisions.”
Seraphina’s voice was worried. “Adrian and Livia won’t let this go. Especially with Caleb’s life hanging in the balance.”
Then Amelia heard something that made her heart skip a beat.
“I suspect Amelia saw this crash coming,” Seraphina said carefully. “Maybe she even planned
it.”
Amelia’s breath caught.
“But if she did,” Seraphina continued firmly, “Caleb must have done something unforgivable first. I know our daughter. She wouldn’t hurt someone without reason.”
Jaxon’s voice was resolute. “As her father, I’ll shield her from every storm. No one will hurt her. Not on my watch.”
Amelia’s hand tightened under the blanket. These two people truly loved her. She would protect them no matter what.
“The investigation team should arrive soon,” Jaxon said. “We need to be prepared for whatever Adrian’s family throws at us.”
“What about Theodore?” Seraphina asked.
“Still unconscious. But Marcus said his vital signs are stable.”
Amelia fought back a smile. Theodore was probably awake by now, just maintaining their
act.

“Mom, Dad,” she called weakly, opening her eyes.
Seraphina rushed to her side. “How are you feeling, sweetheart?”
“My head hurts,” Amelia said, touching her bandaged forehead. “Is Theodore okay?”
Claim
“He’s resting next door,” Jaxon said gently. “Don’t worry about anything right now. Just focus on healing.”
Amelia nodded obediently, then closed her eyes again.
She heard Seraphina whisper to Jaxon, “Should we tell her about Caleb?”
“Not yet. Let her recover first.”
။
Their footsteps moved toward the door, and Amelia heard them step into the hallway.
“The Crimson family’s attitude is interesting,” Jaxon murmured. “Gideon came himself, but he’s not pressing for immediate answers. Almost like he’s waiting for something.”
“Or someone,” Seraphina replied.
Amelia’s lips curved slightly. The Alpha King was shrewd. He probably suspected this wasn’t a simple accident either.
(Celine’s POV)
The air outside the operating room was suffocating. After four grueling hours, the doctor finally emerged with news about Caleb.
“We saved his life,” the doctor said grimly. “But the brain damage is severe. His wolf shows no response. If his healing abilities don’t return, he may never wake up.”
Livia let out a piercing scream and collapsed into Ethan’s arms.
“My son!” she sobbed. “My poor boy!”
Celine watched Adrian’s agonized expression and Livia’s breakdown. Her mind raced, calculating the implications.
She quickly put on a remorseful face and burst into tears.
“This is all my fault!” she wailed, approaching Livia. “I’m so sorry, Mom!”
Livia looked up through her tears. “What do you mean?”

“I took the boys to meet that mysterious healer ‘Lily‘ about copyright deals,” Celine lied smoothly. “But it was a trap! Amelia set it all up to humiliate us!”
Claim
She sobbed harder. “Caleb felt so ashamed and angry on the drive back. That’s why he was driving so recklessly when the accident happened!”
Livia’s grief transformed into blazing hatred.
“That witch!” she snarled. “First she steals everything that belongs to you, now she wants to kill my son!”
“I should have protected him better,” Celine cried. “I should have seen through her scheme!”
Adrian’s face was ashen. “Are you certain Amelia planned this?”
“The meeting was suspicious from the start,” Celine said. “She knew exactly where to find us. How else could she have been on that same road at that exact time?”
Livia’s eyes burned with madness. “She’ll pay for this. I swear on the Moon Goddess, she’ll pay!”
Celine glanced at Ethan from the corner of her eye. Unlike their parents, he wasn’t losing control. He just stared coldly at the operating room doors, his expression unreadable.
That calculating look made Celine’s heart race with unease.
“We need proof,” Ethan said quietly. “Accusations won’t be enough against the Crimson family.”
“What proof do we need?” Livia shrieked. “My son is dying!”
“And if we move without evidence, we’ll lose everything,” Ethan replied calmly. “Including any chance of justice for Caleb.”
Adrian nodded slowly. “Ethan’s right. We have to be smart about this.”
Celine felt a chill. Ethan was thinking too clearly, too strategically. That was dangerous.
(Celine’s POV)
As the family clustered around Caleb’s unconscious form being wheeled out, Celine’s phone vibrated in her pocket.
She glanced at the caller ID and her heart skipped a beat.

She slipped away to a quiet corner of the hospital garden and answered.
“What is it?” she whispered urgently.
“We have a problem,” the voice on the other end said. “Someone’s been investigating the rogue attack on Amelia. The one you hired.”
Celine’s blood turned to ice. “Who?”
“We traced it back. It was Caleb.”
The phone nearly slipped from her trembling fingers.
“What?” she breathed.
“He’s been digging for weeks. Looking into your connections, your finances, everything.”
Claim
Celine’s mind reeled. Caleb, her loyal chess piece, had been investigating her behind her back.
“How much does he know?” she asked.
“Enough to destroy you if he talks.”
Terror crashed over her like a wave. If Caleb woke up and told their parents the truth about the rogue attack, her carefully crafted image would shatter completely.
She’d be expelled from the pack in disgrace.
“Are you sure it was him?” she demanded.
“Positive. He hired private investigators three weeks ago.‘
Celine hung up and stared back at the hospital building.
Her fear transformed into cold, vicious calculation.
She’d thought Caleb was her most devoted supporter. He always said she was his beloved little sister.
But he’d been planning to betray her all along.
“Well, dear brother,” she whispered to herself, “if you want to play games, let’s see who wins.”
She walked back toward the hospital, her steps light and purposeful.
When she reached the ICU, she found Livia still crying over Caleb’s motionless form.
“He looks so peaceful,” Celine said softly, placing a gentle hand on Livia’s shoulder.

“He has to wake up,” Livia sobbed. “He has to.”
Celine squeezed her shoulder sympathetically.
“Of course he will, Mom. Caleb’s strong.”
But in her heart, she was praying for the exact opposite.
Claim
She hoped Caleb would never open his eyes again. That he’d slip away quietly in his sleep, taking his dangerous secrets to the grave.
After all, he’d always claimed she was his most precious sister.
Time to prove just how much he loved her.
