Chapter 96: The Identity of Author Lily
Chapter 96: The Identity of Author Lily
(Amelia’s POV)
Livia’s face turned bright red with rage. Her chest heaved violently as she pointed an accusing finger at me.
“Look what you’ve done! You’ve corrupted Seraphina!” she screamed. “She used to be so gentle and obedient. Now she’s turned into this vicious woman because of your influence!”
I leaned back against my pillows, meeting her furious gaze with cold indifference. “I can’t communicate with someone who refuses to listen to reason.”
My calm response only fueled Livia’s anger. She whirled around to face Seraphina, her voice dripping with venom.
“You think you’re so clever now, don’t you?” Livia spat. “All these years, you’ve been nothing but a barren she–wolf. No pups, no claim to the pack’s inheritance. You had no voice in this family!”
Seraphina’s face went pale, but her eyes blazed with fury.
Livia continued her vicious attack. “But now you finally have your chance, don’t you? With this so–called talented daughter, you think you can finally bare your fangs and fight for power!”
*My wolf Ava let out a disdainful snort deep in my consciousness: “This mad dog only knows how to bark. She has no idea what real threat looks like.“*
Seraphina stood up slowly, her voice steady despite the pain in her eyes. “Who was it that humiliated me in this very room? Who called me a worthless she–wolf who couldn’t bear pups?”
Her words cut through the air like a blade. “You stood right here, Livia, and told me I was nothing because I couldn’t give this family children.”
Livia’s mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. She hadn’t expected Seraphina to fight back so directly.
“You made sure everyone knew about my failures,” Seraphina continued. “You used my pain as a weapon against me for years.”
Adrian quickly stepped between them, his voice sharp with authority. “Enough! Both of you, stop this nonsense. The real issue here is Caleb’s injuries.”

Livia immediately switched tactics. Her face crumpled into a mask of maternal grief. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she wailed.
“My poor son is lying in the ICU fighting for his life!” she sobbed. “He might never wake up, and you’re all here arguing about old grudges!”
She turned her tear–stained face toward me, her voice becoming shrill with desperation. “Amelia, you must give us an explanation. If you don’t, I’ll make you pay with blood for blood!”
Jaxon’s voice cut through her theatrics like ice. “Caleb’s dress sabotage incident was already handed over to Adrian for punishment. Now we have a police report confirming deliberate brake tampering. This is attempted murder.”
I nodded thoughtfully, adding my own suggestion. “Perhaps we should send someone to investigate the scene for surveillance footage. We might find evidence of Caleb tampering with the brakes himself.”
Alaric struck his cane against the floor once. “Butler, go investigate immediately.”
I watched Adrian’s reaction carefully. He frowned but didn’t seem worried about what the investigation might reveal. His confidence in Caleb’s methods was apparent.
“Fine!” Livia shrieked. “But if this investigation doesn’t prove Caleb’s innocence, I’ll go to the police myself. I’ll expose every dirty secret this family has!”
Her threat hung in the air like a dark cloud. She grabbed Celine’s arm roughly.
“Come on, Celine. We’re leaving. These people have already made up their minds against us.”
Celine cast one last venomous look at me before following her adoptive mother out. Their footsteps echoed angrily down the hallway.
Ethan started to follow them, but Alaric’s voice stopped him cold.
“Ethan. Stay.”
My brother froze mid–step. His shoulders tensed as he slowly turned back to face our grandfather.
Adrian shifted uncomfortably. “Father, perhaps we should discuss this later-”
“You may go, Adrian,” Alaric said dismissively. “This doesn’t concern you.”
Adrian’s face darkened with humiliation, but he didn’t dare argue. He left the room with
obvious reluctance.
Seraphina looked nervously at Jaxon. He gently patted her hand, his touch reassuring and

steady.
“Everything will be fine,” he murmured. “I’m here.”

Now only Jaxon’s family and Alaric remained in the room. The atmosphere grew heavy with unspoken tension.
I settled back against my pillows, watching as my grandfather fixed his sharp gaze on Ethan. The old man’s eyes held the weight of authority and disappointment.
Alaric got straight to the point. “The ‘Lily‘ you met – that was Amelia, wasn’t it?”
Under my amused stare, Ethan’s face turned an ugly shade of gray. His voice came out dry
and cracked.
“Yes,” he admitted reluctantly. “It was her.”
“Explain,” Alaric commanded.
Ethan swallowed hard. “I went there for the copyright deal. I had no idea it would be… her. When I realized who Lily really was, I was shocked.”
He tried to justify his reaction. “Caleb thought it was too much of a coincidence. He believed Amelia had set up an elaborate trap to humiliate our family.”
Alaric’s expression grew thunderous. “So rather than acknowledge your sister’s talent, you chose to believe in conspiracies?”
Ethan’s mouth opened but no words came out.
“Let me understand this correctly,” Alaric continued, his voice rising. “Amelia grew up in a remote place like Meadow Brook, yet she possesses extraordinary literary talent. Instead of being proud of her achievements, you assume it’s all part of some elaborate scheme?”
The old man’s cane struck the floor again. “Her writing isn’t the only evidence of her abilities. Her medical skills saved Caleb’s life yesterday. These talents can’t be faked or
manufactured.”
I watched Ethan’s face cycle through shades of red and white. He looked both humiliated and defiant, unable to accept the truth staring him in the face.
“Amelia’s books have sold millions of copies,” Alaric pressed on. “Her stories touch readers‘ hearts across the country. This level of success requires genuine talent, not tricks.”
Ethan finally found his voice. “It’s just… the timing seemed suspicious. She returns to our family and suddenly all these revelations come out.”

“Suspicious?” Alaric’s voice dripped with contempt. “Or perhaps you’re threatened by her success?”
The accusation hit its mark. Ethan’s jaw clenched as he struggled to maintain his
composure.
“I run Starlight Entertainment,” he said defensively. “I know talent when I see it.”
Claim
“Do you?” Alaric challenged. “Because from where I sit, you’ve completely failed to recognize the extraordinary young woman sitting in this bed.”
I remained silent, letting my grandfather’s words sink in. Ethan’s discomfort was delicious to watch.
“She’s not just talented,” Alaric continued. “She’s brilliant. Her medical knowledge, her writing ability, her business acumen – these are gifts that would make any family proud.”
Ethan’s hands clenched into fists at his sides. “Grandfather, I never said she wasn’t talented-”
။
“You didn’t have to say it,” Alaric cut him off. “Your actions spoke louder than words. You trusted Celine’s lies over your own sister’s truth.”
The old man’s disappointment was palpable. “Celine, who has no blood relation to this family. Celine, who has proven herself to be manipulative and deceitful.”
Ethan’s face burned with shame, but his pride wouldn’t let him admit fault completely.
“Yet you show her unwavering loyalty,” Alaric pressed on. “While treating Amelia, your actual sister, with suspicion and hostility.”
“I was protecting our family’s interests,” Ethan mumbled weakly.
“By attacking the most valuable member of this family?” Alaric’s voice rose. “By supporting someone who isn’t even related to us?”
The silence that followed was deafening. Ethan stared at the floor, unable to meet anyone’s eyes.
“Your prejudice has blinded you,” Alaric said with finality. “You’ve chosen to believe in lies rather than acknowledge the truth about your own flesh and blood.”
